Managing the Cosmos now? They're not the exact same club, but they're very steeped in history and one of the big names in US soccer. Those uniforms are nice, too, love the green.

Managers Log NUMBER 4
March 8,2015:

My god I am so glad preseason is over. It was a struggle and we underperformed and it was bad. Right now I am having a hard time trying to write something because I am so frustrated. Playing 8 friendlies was a bad idea..... The record was 3-2-3. A few of the losses were straight out pathetic. Losing to two PDL clubs is extremely uncalled for. Especially your former team. Their 5 fans that showed up saw them beat us.

The problem is the tactic. This is the same I had at NOVA FC but I feel these guys are idiots well except for my former players. They are the only ones that GET IT. I really do not get how it is so hard, It's a dumb down version of what Barca did a few years back. Being a manager does suck at times.

Now we have a few weeks before the first match against San Antonio. I feel we will be ready for that match. Just need to work on a little conditioning and teamwork. It took awhile but I have finally decided who my Captain and Vice Captain are. Gary Monk will be the Captain and Elliot Hackett is the Vice.

HEMPSTEAD,NY- The New York Cosmos have won their first match in the Mike Korrigan era by beating the visiting San Antonio Scorpions by a score of 2-1. It was a packed house as the Cosmos got the 2015 Spring Season underway.

An error from San Antonio's Luka Vucko allowed striker Luis Perea to score a deftly executed finish. He would add his second goal of the match with a close range header in the 61st minute. It was not over as San Antonio kept the match close when Brandon Tyler scored in the 86th minute.

"It feels good to have the first win out of the way. After preseason ended I was worried but the team looks great right now," said Mike Korrigan.

This was a match were many of the new Cosmos got a chance to play including vice captain. Elliot Hackett."It felt good to play today, being a Cosmo is a special thing," said Hackett. Elsewhere five others made their debuts including goalkeeper Daniel Clausson.

The Cosmos will now travel to Lockhart Stadium to face the Strikers on April 4th. After that they return home for two home matches in a row against Minnesota and Atlanta.

A Month in Review: April 2015

The first month of the 2015 Spring Season was an exciting one for the club as the Era of Korrigan got underway.

Despite being tied with FC Edmonton for first place it was a struggle as the club won only two out of the four matches in April. The other two matches resulted in a draw and a loss."You can't win them all but this team played hard during the two non wins," said Mike Korrigan during his monthly radio show.

The month started off as the team traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to face their old rival the Strikers. In a match that always grabs everyone's attention the Cosmos ended up on top winning 1-0 in Korrigan's first road win. Brian Span provided the Cosmos with the only goal in the 66th minute.

After their trip to Florida was a success the two matches at the return home would prove to be bumpy. The match against Minnesota resulted in a scoreless draw as both sides lacked any motivation to score. The Cosmos had several chances but failed to convert. After the draw Atlanta would beat us by a score of 1-0. This was the first loss during the season.

"Well the past two results were extremely disappointing especially at home. On behalf of me and the team I want to apologize to our supporters for such a poor last two matches. We need to regroup and see what went wrong as you only get two chances all year to make the Soccer Bowl and we need to return to it."- Gary Monk, Captain

Finally the club would rebound on the road against the RailHawks. Brian Span was the key player of the match as he scored the only two goal. To finish the month New York win 2-0. With that the Cosmos have accumulated 10 points in 5 matches so far.

May starts off as the Cosmos travel to Tampa Bay on the second and the first home match of the month will take place on the ninth against Edmonton.
nice update... Already the match vs Edmonton looks vital!

Hackett is cream of the crop for the Cosmos

New York Cosmos Vice Captain Elliot Hackett has had the game of his career so far with the Cosmos since joining back in December. He has also won the NASL Player of the Week Award for week 6. His three goals gave the Cosmos the boost to first place.

The 23 year old put in a superb performance for his squad and completed his first ever hatrick. Hackett got the Cosmos off to a flyer by scoring a well timed effort on 8 minutes. This was his first goal as a Cosmo. He would score his final two goals during the 90th and 95th minutes.

Tampa Bay on the other hand struggled all game long and could not stop the Cosmos massive attack. They collapsed big time during extratime as Hackett caught them off guard both times and just looked like they did not belong.

The next time these two will faceoff will be on the final day of the Spring Season on June 27th. The game will be played at James M. Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, NY.

A Month in Review: May 2015

May was one of the most successful months for the club since joining the NASL back in the fall of 2013. During the run of five games the Cosmos went on a nice four game winning streak. This lead the club to a nice first place lead at the end of the month. Right now we are three points in first with a month to go in the Spring Season. It was not all good though. On the last match of May the Minnesota United shocked the club by winning 1-0. This was the end to a nice little run.

On positive was the addition of Omar Salgado. He joined the club on May 23rd just in time for the Minnesota match. Thanks to a free transfer he was available to help an understaffed attack as vice captain Elliot Hackett has been out with an injury for a few weeks now. "I am pleased to have joined New York and will help them win this season," said Salgado right before the match against Minnesota.

The upcoming month of June is the last month of the Spring Season before going on a month break. With four matches Mike Korrigan and his and of Cosmos are looking to keep first place and lock in the Spring Title and an invitation to the 2015 Soccer Bowl. The month starts off with a home match against the Carolina RailHawks and the Spring Season ends at home against Tampa Bay.

EDMONTON,AB- With one match remaining after this match both Edmonton and New York were looking for a victory to claim the 2015 NASL Spring Season Championship. As it stood before the match a Cosmos victory would get them back in first with that one match remaining.

Fullback Hunter Freeman got New York off to a flying start by scoring a free kick from 27 yards in the 10th minute. FC Edmonton's equalizer would come from Canadian International Rob Friend as he seized on Wanderille Leferve's mistake to score a penalty. Friend would later score his second of the match. It would get even worse for New York as Adrian Ruelas scored a freak goal thanks to an error from Freeman.

With that for the first time since the spring/fall format has been introduced FC Edmonton have won a title. This gives them a chance to host the 2015 Soccer Bowl. During this time Rob Friend has scored a league leading 12 goals. On the other hand the Cosmos have suffered their third loss in four matches and will be looking for a better ending of the Spring Season and a better Fall Campaign.

A Month in Review: June 2015

The month of June was a struggle for the Cosmos. During the four matches the club went 0-1-3 and seeing a sad collapse for the team. Sadly with this horrible month the team came in second in the Spring Season.

"We just have to blame ourselves for this collapse it was all my fault. I honestly don't know what happened though, it was just bad. Hopefully the Fall Season will be much better and we win," said Mike Korrigan during his monthly radio show.

In the transfer department we have two players joining us during the break. First is midfielder Sebastian Lletget. The American played with Korrigan last season at Northern Virginia. He was just recently released by West Ham and is glad to join his old coach again. The other transfer is 17 year old Sebastian Martinez who joins us from FC Barcelona. He was released by Barcelona and is looking forward to playing for us.

Next we have came to an agreement with Argentine club Estudiantes who will be coming to James M. Shuart Stadium. The friendly is set for a 7;30 kickoff on July 17th. The fall Seasoon will get underway on August 1 when the team travels to San Antonio and the first home match will be on the 8th against the Strikers.

PERSONAL LOG NUMBER 6
July 16,2015:

It has been a while since I wrote in my personal log. This job is very time consuming and demanding so there is little to no time for personal things. My girlfriend is a bit concerned that this job has taken a lot out of me especially in the last month. I am happy she is looking out for me but that is the thing about coaching soccer. It is an up and down job and you have to deal with the pros and cons.

Well after that big fat failure at the end of the Spring Season I was called into the board room for a "talk". It was not good at all since they were fuming and whatnot. It even had the great one, Pele. He was not pleased with how the team collapsed. I had to defend myself like crazy and told them everything I could. At the end Seamus O'Brien told me that I have one more chance to keep my job. If I don't win the fall they will fire me. I was so pissed off when he said that. I know this team is the cosmos but they need to realize this is not the old Cosmos of the past.

I was asked by my friend if I regret taking this job and leaving NOVA. I said yes!! I will be honest here, moving from the Royals was such a bad choice since I am not ready or mature enough to coach in a higher level. I have unfinished business with them. I only took this job due to the name and money.... Lucky for me the NOVA Chairman still likes me and said if there is an opening I can always comeback.

Finally I am glad we have a month off and I get to reset myself. I hope the fall gets better and we win. I want revenge on Edmonton.
Wow, now Pele needs you to win! Quite a bit different :P
