A Month in Review: April 2015
The first month of the 2015 Spring Season was an exciting one for the club as the Era of Korrigan got underway.
Despite being tied with FC Edmonton for first place it was a struggle as the club won only two out of the four matches in April. The other two matches resulted in a draw and a loss.
"You can't win them all but this team played hard during the two non wins," said Mike Korrigan during his monthly radio show.
The month started off as the team traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to face their old rival the Strikers. In a match that always grabs everyone's attention the Cosmos ended up on top winning 1-0 in Korrigan's first road win. Brian Span provided the Cosmos with the only goal in the 66th minute.
After their trip to Florida was a success the two matches at the return home would prove to be bumpy. The match against Minnesota resulted in a scoreless draw as both sides lacked any motivation to score. The Cosmos had several chances but failed to convert. After the draw Atlanta would beat us by a score of 1-0. This was the first loss during the season.
"Well the past two results were extremely disappointing especially at home. On behalf of me and the team I want to apologize to our supporters for such a poor last two matches. We need to regroup and see what went wrong as you only get two chances all year to make the Soccer Bowl and we need to return to it."- Gary Monk, Captain
Finally the club would rebound on the road against the RailHawks. Brian Span was the key player of the match as he scored the only two goal. To finish the month New York win 2-0. With that the Cosmos have accumulated 10 points in 5 matches so far.
May starts off as the Cosmos travel to Tampa Bay on the second and the first home match of the month will take place on the ninth against Edmonton.
