Cosmos Report for August 2015

HEMPSTEAD,NY-Since the collapse of the end of the Spring Season head coach Mike Korrigan has been under a lot of pressure to succeed. During the month off there was talk of letting him go and a new person would be in charge. Well somehow he survived and has managed to keep the job for now.

Like after every crisis change is needed. Well the Cosmos managed to bring aboard a new striker. Yes you might think defense is the problem but it is truly the offense. While doing some reading one of the Cosmos scouts noticed that a kid was released by FC Barcelona and they jumped on it. Well in his first month Sebastian Martinez has scored five goals.

Well August did not start off the way the Cosmos wanted by drawing San Antonio by a score of 1-1.The most notable aspect to this victory was that Martinez scored his first goal. "I am very happy I scored." said the 18 year old. Sadly a few minutes later San Antonio's Tomasz Zahorski spoiled the fun and equalized.

The night match was the most talked about match for the Cosmos so far this season. Well more like what happened after the fact. After a two goal collapse to the Strikers the Cosmos would lose 2-1. Elliot Hackett scored on his return match after missing the past few months to injury. Like I said it was crazy after the fact. The Cosmos sent more like leaked out information about a meeting with Korrigan getting on the verge of being fired and his defense about keeping his job. Well it sounded like he was ready to leave the club.

Something must have woke him and the team up. For the next three matches the team went on a three game winning streak before the month ended. It was quite a turnaround from what was seen during the last few months. They looked as if they were back to form from the start of the season. Out of these three the best performance came against Tampa in a 4-1 victory at home.

Now the question is will Korrigan and his team continue the momentum into September and win that Fall Season title? The month will feature a trip to Edmonton to face against the team that ruined their chance to a Spring Season title a few months back. If the Cosmos struggle expect to see some wild headlines as the drama between Korrigan and the board continues.

Keep up that form and your job is safe ;)
I completely echo what Louis said keep up the form and ou will keep your job.
Louis It is looking good right now
Jason So far its better

Cosmos Report for September 2015

HEMPSTEAD,NY- Do you remember where you were back in September? Well other than me ripping of a Earth. Wind and Fire classic I really mean it!! September 2015 might be the best season ever for the Cosmos since the reboot a few years back. At the end of August the club won three straight matches and I asked you all in a poll if the streak would continue. Well it did they have won all four matches this month.

The month started out with a bang against Atlanta. Even though they cut it close towards the end the Cosmos still won. Thanks to Sebastian Martinez and his first ever hatrick. "Sebastian's performance was a joy to watch, this kid has a lot of talent and will become one of the best someday," said Pele who has been keeping a close eye on the head coach.

Edmonton was up next in what was one of two major matches of the month. If the Cosmos lost this match it could have been the end to the season. Luckily enough that was not the case as they kept the streak alive with five matches without a loss. The goal scorers were Brian Span (2), Diego Faria and Sebastian Martinez.

After Edmonton the team continued their three game road trip, this time to Fort Lauderdale. Last month when these two faced each other the Cosmos collapsed and lost. After the match was the well publicized confrontation between management and the head coach. Well this time New York came on top 2-0 thanks to goals from Brian Span and Diego Faria.

Finally New York and San Antonio would meet up in the biggest match of the season. With both teams tied for first this would be the match to determine who has the upper hand going into October. Us "experts" thought this would be very close or a draw. Well the Cosmos came out on fire and gave the Scorpions a little lesson in soccernomics. New York won 4-1 thanks to goals from Hackett, Perea, Capuano and Leferve.

So now the Cosmos are in front by three points and are looking to close out the Fall Season by winning the last five matches. "This is going to be a very intense month for us as well as the other clubs in the league, nobody wants to lose during this month, especially us after that debacle in June," said Korrigan. October 3rd will be the first match of the month against Minnesota.

great results mate! Keep it up!

Cosmos win Fall Season
New York Cosmos 2-2 FC Edmonton

HEMPSTEAD,NY- A few months ago FC Edmonton and New York would meet on the second to last match of the Spring to see who was champions. As we all know Edmonton won. Now it was the same situation but this time the Cosmos were on a hot streak. Despite a draw New York have won the 2015 Fall Season Championship.

Defensive midfielder Wandrille Lefevre suffered embarrassment during the opening minute of the match as he scored an own goal. Winger Brian Span then equalized for New York eight minutes later, with a well placed shot. A few minutes later Span's name would be announced once more. He scored his second goal of the match from 14 yards out in the 14th minute. Edmonton would answer back late in the match as Tyler Rosenlund scored the equalizer.

With that the Cosmos will return to the Soccer Bowl for the second time since joining the league in 2013. During that final they lost to Tampa Bay. Sunday November 7th will be the date of the final in Edmonton, Alberta.
Well done on getting revenge :P

Cosmos Report for October 2015

By GRAHAM RUTHVENMARCH November 1, 2015

October is over on a high note as the Cosmos are the 2015 Fall Season champions. It was a great season for the club as they now advance to the Soccer Bowl. October was a great month as the club as they kept the streak alive. Despite the draw against Edmonton they still have not lost since August 8th.

To start the month off Minnesota United came to town and lost 2-0. A week later the scoreline would be the same as we traveled to face the RailHawks. Next Elliot Hackett lead the charge in a 4-2 victory over Atlanta. In this match he scored two goals. As we all know during the 2-22 draw against Edmonton we were crowned champions after. In the final match of the Fall Season at Tampa Bay the club won 2-1.

In other news head coach Mike Korrigan just signed a 2 year contract extension that will run until the end of December 2017. "It feels good to have the board and I on the same page, things got rough in the spring but we were able to pick this up." For Korrigan it will be great since he has had a year now and is more set in his and the boards ways. I don't know about you but I am excited to see what he does in the next few years.

Finally the Cosmos will be returning to the Soccer Bowl for the first time since 2013. They will be facing Edmonton who in this season have given the club a hard time. This will be an exciting matchup and this should be close. I predict that it will go to penalties since the teams are way too even. The match is set for Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 8:00pm EST.

New York Cosmos win Soccer Bowl

HEMPSTEAD,NY-It was an exciting evening in the New York City area as the 2015 NASL Soccer Bowl was played under the lights. The two clubs FC Edmonton and New York were ready for kickoff. Many believed this would be a close match and it was. New York won by a close score of 2-1.

Scoring started as Luis Gil of Edmonton caused an error that lead to a Cosmos goal. Popular striker Sebastian Martinez scored the first goal of the 2015 Soccer Bowl in the 30th minute from 15 yards out. As soon as he scored he ran over to the Cosmos Supporters and jumped into the crowd. At the half it was New York 1 Edmonton 0.

After a halftime performance from KISS the game was back underway. Four minutes later New York's captain Gary Monk doubled the lead with a well timed finish in the 49th minute. New York is up 2-0 at this point. FC Edmonton would lead a small comeback as captain Rob Friend scored their only goal in the 74th minute.

As the clock hit 90 it was over as the New York Cosmos have won the 2015 Soccer Bowl!! This is their first Soccer Bowl title since their relaunch in 2013. In total this is their 6th since the Soccer Bowl was a part of the original NASL from 1968-1985.

With this the curtain is closed on the 2015 NASL season. In the next few months rosters and coaching will change in preparation for the 2016 season. During 2015 a total of 33,154 fans attended matches and that is a record for the modern day NASL. This season also marked the first time since the Spring/Fall format was introduced that the Tampa Bay Rowdies were not involved in the Soccer Bowl.

Damn what a season. It started really bad but we started to improve. I still can't believe we won the Soccer Bowl. Edmonton is a really good club and I give Colin all the credit in the world. It seems like our two clubs will become rivals since this season all three titles were between the two of us. Next year is going to be even better.

Right before I left for break to head back to Virginia I was told by the board that at the end of next season we are getting a new stadium so I should look forward to that. Right now the name is the O'Brien Arena. Wtf kind of name is that honestly. It will be changed by next year hopefully...but I doubt it since the owners are self righteous pricks. Yes I said that and if they see this someday I will be happy.

One thing I absolutely loathe about the Cosmos is the fact we can't play in the Open Cup due to "tradition". Seriously what tradition other than the name we are not the same Cosmos of back in the day. It's all just a marketing ploy. Right now with MLS ending I am keeping a close eye to see what jobs open. I feel I am ready for MLS but you never know.

So that is about it.

PERSONAL LOG NUMBER 8
December 10,2015:

A few days ago I got a call from Montreal, Canada. I had no clue who would want me from there? Well it was MLS Club Montreal Impact or as they say Impact de Montreal. A few weeks ago their manager Jose Manuel de la Torre was sacked and they are looking for someone new. I said that I would love to interview. A few days later I flew out to Montreal for the interview.

The interview went well and they asked a ton of questions. The biggest one is why do you want Montreal. I basically told them about my personal goal to get a job in MLS and how I love the way the team is ran. The cool part is that other than a Canadian Championship in 2015 and a few championships in the second division days this club has no history during the MLS era. I want to change that and show that Canadian Clubs are good too.

The majority of the interview was in French, well more like the dialect that they speak in Quebec. This was pretty easy for me to understand since I can speak French pretty easily. With that now it is time for the waiting game. Joey Saputo the owner informed me that I will know by the end of December. Boy I hope I get this job. Please don't judge me for jumping jobs. I only want to coach in MLS so if I make it to MLS then I will be happy.
