ENGLAND

As you’ve probably seen already, I am taking a break from my Diego Maradona story but I will return to it at some point.

In the meantime, I’ve been playing a bit of international football on FM recently and quite like the concept of it (Being a World Cup year and all).

Therefore, during my break, I’d like to begin an international story, a story type I feel we don’t see too many of here in the forums.

The reason I chose England is simply because it’s a nation I’m obviously very passionate about (as an Englishman). However, I’m sure I share the same views as many in the England right now when I state that International breaks for the English is the worst thing in football, simply because we play banal and boring football.

Many are worried we’ll get embarrassed in Brazil, our youth is poor in comparison to the top nations and so forth. The list of problems with the England national team is frightening, and one that is being cooked by the media’s hyperbole ahead of Brazil.

There’s a good chance our players will misbehave, we’ll under perform once again, Wayne Rooney will have another on camera brain fart and Roy Hodgson will lose his job upon his return to British shores, only for us to go loony over the FA’s next appointment and the England rollercoaster will begin again.

Well, I’m here to change that. I want to take England to that next level. No more dodgy call-ups, drunken nights in South Africa and long ball tactics to Andy Carroll that belong in the Stone Age. From now on, the nation that invented football will begin to play it as it should be.

ROY STEPS DOWN

The English Football Association (FA) has confirmed that Roy Hodgson has stepped down from his post as England manager.

Suggestions are that Hodgson was uncomfortable with the direction his national team was heading with the 2014 FIFA World Cup arising, therefore deciding that he no longer is the man for England.

With Hodgson yet to comment publicly, the FA released the following statement upon the 65-year-old’s resignation.

“It’s with deep sadness that we announce the departure of Roy Hodgson as England manager, a choice he himself imposed.

“We completely comprehend the reasoning behind Hodgson’s decision and accept it as a valid motive for both parties to disband.

“Our task will now be to appoint a new manager ready to take England as a nation forward and we will aim to do so as soon as possible.

“We would like to thank Roy Hodgson on behalf of the nation for his services in the UEFA Euro 2012 in Poland & Ukraine as well as his guidance in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. We wish him all the best for the future.”

It is being widely reported that Hodgson was uncomfortable with the mediated pressure throughout his squad selections, with the former England man unable to call upon players suited to his tactics without the discrepancy of his backroom staff and the media.

The current England staff, which includes the likes of Ray Clemence and Gary Neville, are expected to remain with ‘The Three Lions’ upon the arrival of a new manager.

Leading the race to be appointed England manager is Harry Redknapp once again after missing out on the job to Hodgson in 2012.

England’s Under 21’s manager Gareth Southgate is also in the running for the job, as is ex-Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup and Marcelo Bielsa.

ENGLAND’S SHOCK APPOINT

The English Football Association has made the shock appoint of Paddy as the new manager of the England national team.

The FA has turned to the unknown 25-year-old unexpectedly, in a time where Harry Redknapp looked to be the unanimous choice once more.

Paddy has signed a 1-year-deal with England on £32,000 a week and his future as boss depends heavily on performances in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Entering his first venture into management, new boss Paddy has declared this moment as a dream come true and is confident he can deliver a positive future for English football.

”This an incredible, or shall I say unimaginable moment for me. Managing is something I’ve dedicated my life too and I’m ready to show the world I’m worth my salt.

“It’s a massive leap into the deep end from my part. England is a dream job for me and I would like to thank Greg Dyke and the rest of the FA Committee for believing in my capabilities.

“The hard work starts here. I’m very confident in my ability to drive this nation forward and I look forward to challenge ahead of me.”

The general consensus over Paddy’s appointment is that it has been a bad move by the FA, with Gareth Southgate and Redknapp ranking among the English public’s favourites.

Paddy’s first game as England manager comes against the 2014 World Cup hosts Brazil at Wembley on the 14th August 2013, with the friendly coming just three days before the start of the Barclays Premier League season.
