DEADLINE DAY: THOMAS INCE SIGNED AFTER IMPRESSING FATHER, PAUL

A good relationship between a father and a son is always healthy. But it seems that Paul and Thomas Ince cannot get away from each other. Ince Sr first teamed up with his son at Sky Bet League One side Notts County, and more recently Sky Bet Championship outfit Blackpool, but the two were separated when Paul was sacked by the board. Former Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis decided to bring the youngster in on loan to Selhurst Park, before being fired by Steve Parish. That's when the two were able to partner up again. The picture above sees young Thomas in action against Fulham, a game played earlier this month. He clearly has done enough to win round his father, after he completed a permanent transfer to the club in the past hour. He had only been at the club on loan for two months, but he must've performed to a good standard for Paul to buy him.

He is a highly rated talent, and has been courted by the likes of AS Monaco, Tottenham Hotspur, and his former club Liverpool, whom he and his father both had a spell with, Paul having the more memorable stay at Anfield. Ince has cost his new club £2.2 million - a so-called bargain by many fans of The Eagles. Ince had entered the final year of his contract at Bloomfield Road, allowing clubs to buy him at a reduced price.

In other news from Selhurst Park, Steve Bruce, the Hull City manager, seemed willing to let his son, Alex Bruce, move on from the club, in an exchange for Palace's Owen Garvan. However, Bruce, 30, was told by Paul Ince that his wage demands were too high, and the deal was called off.
Great signing! But was there any doubt that he would sign his own son?:P

August 2013

After a decent pre-season, Crystal Palace got their competitive campaign up and running this month, with the side playing their first meaningful fixtures under new boss Paul Ince. His new signings, including his son Thomas, also got the chance to show off their skills to The Eagles fans, with the team playing three games in the Barclays Premier League, and a tie against Sky Bet League 2 side in the Capital One Cup. As chief editor of the official club website, it is my job to present to you the results, statistics and general feelings on the games.

It was a shame that we couldn't get our league campaign off to a good start, but this game was always going to be tough. A home match against Liverpool for a newly promoted side is daunting, and from the general opinions gathered from the fans, they are pleased that we did not slip further behind, and feel that we gave a very respectable performance. You voted new signing Răzvan Raț as the Crystal Palace Player of the Match.

The first point of the season came in a game in which we were generally very poor. After Darren Bent opened the scoring for Fulham, we then threw all of our attention to attacking and it worked. Marouane Chamakh equalized just before half time, and then all eyes turned to Itumeleng Khune. The South African produced a dazzling second half display to ensure that we got the point we needed to get our season up and running and the goalkeeper was chosen as the official Man of the Match.

After picking up our first point away to Fulham in the previous game, we faced another tricky game. Having already faced Liverpool so far this month, we now had to host fellow London side Arsenal. We gave a good fight and fired some shots in at goal, but in the end it was just not enough to stop the fantastic Arsenal attacks. A late Thomas Ince goal pushed Paul Ince to signing his son on transfer deadline day, the Palace manager revealed to us. Ince was also voted by you as the Crystal Palace Player of the Match against Arsenal.

Having been drawn against Wycombe Wanderers in the Capital One Cup 2nd Round, many of our fans expected an easy tie. But the underdogs put up a brilliant fight, and everyone associated with their club should be proud. It isn't easy to come to a Premier League clubs' ground, but they seemed to have no fears, so fair play to them. But credit to our boys as well. Barry Bannan gave a terrific performance to win us the match and win himself the official Man of the Match award. We have been drawn away to Southampton in the next round, so buy your tickets now!
Nice graph' ! And good match !
Good luck man !
Poor results but they were tough teams, nice results in the cup as well.
I don't know why I'm following this since it's the dirty palace but I will anyway.
good luck :)
Great update mate :)
Not the best of results but you had some tough fixtures.
Hopefully next month you can get a few wins!

September 2013

Picking up a point from your first three games may not sound all too good. But for our newly promoted side Crystal Palace, it is a start, and with tough games in the first month against Liverpool and Arsenal, they were sure to drop points. Four games were played in total this month by The Eagles, including a tough away trip to Manchester City, and also faced their Capital One Cup 3rd Round tie against Southampton.

We really upset the odds here when we travelled to the Etihad after the international break was over. A 2-2 draw was an absolutely fantastic result, considering nearly everyone had written us off prior to the game. We took the lead just before half time through Thomas Ince, who is cropping up with goals recently, but Negredo pegged us back just two minutes later. The Spaniard put City in front, but a late goal from Dwight Gayle - his first for the club - bagged us a crucial draw. Ince was voted by you as the Crystal Palace Player of the Match.

An absolutely devastating result. We were very poor, which allowed us to be completely outplayed by a dominant Southampton. After the great result in the previous game, I had really expected us to kick on with another point at least here. Disappointing. Mile Jedinak kept the team together in the first half, which is why you voted him as Crystal Palace Player of the Match.

I was really surprised at the final score of this game, given that we were again outplayed, but we managed to get back on track with a 0-1 win, following our demolishing at home to Southampton the game before. Jason Puncheon scored the only goal of the game, and delivered a fantastic performance as we sealed out the game. Things could have turned bad for us had Stoke's strikers been on a high, but they weren't and it is another crucial win for our team.

Maybe disappointing to drop out of the competition, but it does allow us to focus on our league performance. We gave a very good performance and took The Saints to penalties, but it wasn't to be. Many of the fans I spoke to said that they had been impressed by how we improved the 0-4 thrashing we suffered to them earlier in the month. Marouane Chamakh was voted by the fans as Crystal Palace Player of the Match. Keep voting!
Really quality graphics man!! That Man City result was nice.
Wow, I absolutely love your graphics. The colors are very nice on the eye, too. Some good results there, especially against Manchester City! Perhaps a league table would be nice though? :P

Keep it up, this story looks awesome! :D

October 2013

We have been steadily improving over the past two months, and Paul Ince has started his career at Selhurst Park quietly. Just three games were played this month, all in the Premier League. We had the chance to really push forward here, with a few "easier" games than what we had been up against so far.

We really should have won this game against a Norwich side who sat above us. But we failed to get a single shot on target, and we were lucky that The Canaries didn't capitalize on this. A decent point to boost our tally, but really, we should have had all three. Joel Ward won the official Man of the Match award, after he turned in a really impressive defensive display.

This looked like it was going to be another very disappointing draw, having created multiple chances, but again with no end product, although the finishing was slightly better than the previous match. It went right to the wire before Thomas Ince, the son of the Crystal Palace manager, netted the winning goal. It was a vital goal, but Ince was not chosen as Man of the Match. Instead, the official award went to Romania captain Răzvan Raț, who covered a lot of ground to get forward and join the attack, as well as tracking back to keep the Sunderland threat out.

This game against Aston Villa was one of the most even we had played so far this season, and I am delighted to say that we won the game, played in The Midlands. No goals in the first half, but straight after the break, Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh netted the winning goal. For the second match running, Răzvan Raț picked up the Man of the Match award, after another fantastic display.
Some great wins there, Joel Ward was a great player for me in fm 13 !! good luck

Crystal Palace: Khune Out For Two Months

Crystal Palace will be without shotstopper Itumeleng Khune for the next two months, after he picked up an injury in a match against Everton. The South Africa captain has been in fantastic form since arriving at Selhurst Park for a fee of £450,000 in the summer. He has been a key reason for his teams 'success' so far this season, and the 26-year-old will surely be a huge loss to the Palace faithful and the team.

Khune has made 60 appearances for his national side, and is widely considered as one of the country's best players. He made his name for himself with South African side Kaiser Chiefs, and his reputation has grown since taking the step up to the Barclays Premier League. Khune has broken his collarbone, a devastating blow for both him and his side.

Obviously, this injury to Itumeleng is a huge blow for us, and also for him, as he has been a rock for us so far this season, and deserves to feature in our bigger games against the bigger teams, but he will now be forced to miss our games against Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur, and that's a shame. However, we must move forward from this. I cannot say for sure who will cover for him, but following his recent return to fitness, Wayne Hennessey would seem the most suitable option."

- Crystal Palace manager Paul Ince on the cruel injury blow to Khune.
