Swindon Complete January Signings

Swindon Town have completed the signings of 6 players in January to beef up their squad for the rest of the season. Yado Mambo, 22, had agreed a deal to sign on a free transfer for the Sky Bet League 1 side from Skrill South side Ebbsfleet not long after Costa took over at the helm at Swindon. Mambo, who plays as a Central Defender, has signed a deal until the end of the season worth around £875 per week and will have to work hard to impress in a league three divisions higher than his former club, but his experience from the football league from last seasons should help him succeed. Ryan Fraser, 20, joined on a 3 month loan from Bournemouth, and made 2 appearances grabbing an assist, but had his loan terminated on the 25th of January, 18 days after arriving at the club. Dominic Ball, 18, joined us on a 3 month loan from Tottenham as we needed more strength in the Central Defence department after the the departure of Ward. He can play at Centre Back or at Right Back, which will help with the depth of other positions. Yoann Folly, 28, has joined us until 2015 on a contract worth around £1,800 per week. He can play at Centre Midfield and could really help us in the middle of the park as in my opinion, that's the strongest area of the pitch. Aaron Mokoena, 33, has signed a deal until 2015 and will be earning £3,000 per week. The South Africa international, who is a Centre Back, can be a key player at the heart of defence for us if he is able to find his top form in the league. The last of our January signings is Gary Glen, 23, a Scottish striker who has joined us on a free transfer from Ross County on a deal until 2015 worth around £2,200 per week and could be a key player in our bid to push further up the table, and hopefully will hit the goal trail as soon as possible.

Swindon Town have also released a list of players who have been released, below, so fans can know who has left the club this month.

February Results

Swindon's Player Of The Month: Nathan Thompson - The young right back has really impressed me this month. His defending is amazing and i believe he could be playing in the championship right now instead of League 1. He's not exactly a defender who goes forward to score goals or create them, but he is an amazing player. If we can keep him in the summer then next season could be an exciting one.

League 1 Manager Of The Month: Darren Ferguson - Peterborough United

League 1 Player Of The Month: Jabo Ibehre - Colchester United

League 1 Young Player Of The Month: Alex Henshall - Oldham Athletic

Costa's View: The start to the month was disastrous with the 4-0 defeat to Oldham. The rest of the games were not bad, except we could have beat Leyton Orient. We managed to get two wins, and the board have been praising me for the exciting football that has been on display and i'm really pleased with it. If we can keep playing attacking football and keeping possession then we can make a lot of progress. I think next season can be really good if we keep performing the way we do, that's if we are able to carry on our performances next season. But other than the 4-0 defeat, i am really proud of the effort the players put in this month so hopefully a mid-table finish is going to happen.
Nice update :) loving the story still, keep it up! One question, can we screenshot of the league have a screenshot of the league table please! :)

thanks! And yeah will put it in the march update, always one month ahead but just screenshotted it before moving on to April. Got another couple of updates planned which should be good for the story!
Good, cheers mate, cant wait to see it!

Swindon Bring In More Players

Swindon Town have further increased the numbers of their squad by making a couple of extra signings in February and March as they aim to improve their form in the league and also to help the team rotate their players and secure a mid-table finish. In a shock turn of events, former captain Darren Ward has returned to the club on a deal until the end of next season. The 35 year old centre back will be earning around £2,500 per week, half of the wage he was earning before his departure and has apparently sorted out his differences with manager Rui Costa and has said he is delighted to be back playing for Swindon again. Craig Gordon has signed a deal until 2015 worth around £2,100 per week has expressed his delight at getting back into football and admits he will try his hardest to dislodge Wes Foderingham from the number one spot. The 31 year old goalkeeper has earned 40 caps for Scotland and his experience should really help us out. 19 year old winger Ruben Lameiras on a 3 month loan from Spurs to help out with the depth in the AML position after the departure of Kenneth McEvoy, who returned to Spurs after his loan spell with us. Mark Gower has also joined us but was released on the same day after he punched captain Alex Pritchard. Gower had got annoyed that Pritchard was hogging all the limelight and then lashed out at him, which led to Costa ripping up his contract right in front of him on the spot. Yoann Folly, Aaron Oakley, Jack Bartham, Joao Teixeira, Anjur Osmanovic and Matty Jones have all been released to free up wages, so Costa can now focus on the reminder of the season.

March Results

Swindon

Swindon's Player Of The Month: Alex Prtichard - 5 goals in 7 games, he is unstoppable on his day, and he is a vital player to the team. He can be instrumental for our push for a play-off spot, that's if i decide to go above my mid-table target and coming 2nd in young player of the month proves his performances are amazing.

League 1 Manager Of The Month: Sean O'Driscoll - Wolves

League 1 Player Of The Month: Callum McGregor - Notts County

League 1 Young Player Of The Month: Connor McAleny - Leyton Orient

Costa's View: This month was really good in my opinion. Coming from behind twice to win 4-2 against Crewe was a good result and then the only game we lost was against Wolves was impressive, as we lost once in seven games. Hopefully we can push up the table still, but my main focus is to keep the players performing well and keep getting the results. With Pritchard coming 2nd in young player of the month, his performances are still as good as ever.

Gibraltar

Costa's View: Only one game this month, and may not have anymore until the European Championship Qualifiers. Let my assistant manager take charge for the game as i feel i should focus on Swindon more a while. More possession but at the end of the day, possession means nothing if you are unable to score goals. Hopefully when we get to the qualifiers we will be more prepared, but for now its all about looking for new players to improve the squad, that's if there is any regens in the Gibraltar league that are good enough.

April Results

Swindon's Player Of The Month: Alex Pritchard – For the second month running I am giving Pritchard the player of the month award. He has been instrumental in our rise up the table and his form over the season has been tremendous. I would love to sign him on a permanent deal but I know that will probably not be possible, but fingers crossed.

League 1 Manager Of The Month: Sean O’Driscoll - Wolves

League 1 Player Of The Month: John Fleck – Coventry City

League 1 Young Player Of The Month: Dylan McGeouch – Coventry City

Costa's View: An amazing month, which has seen us climb to just one point behind the play-off positions, and one defeat which was to Coventry who have been in top form all season. Coming second in manager of the month must also mean I did well, so now I will focus on getting in the play-offs. We need to win our last game and hope results elsewhere go our way, but we can do this! Our quality of football has given us these wins so why not the play-offs!

May Results

Swindon's Player Of The Season: Alex Pritchard - He won the League 1 player of the season, and his form all year has been outstanding under my guidance. I wish him luck for the future as he has been outstanding for us this year and I firmly believe he could stake a claim for a first team place at Tottenham. Being our captain for most of the season and he has carried the team along, I am delighted with his progress he has made, and i wish him luck for the future.

League 1 Manager Of Season: Rui Costa – Swindon Town

League 1 Player Of The Season: Alex Pritchard – Swindon Town

Costa's View: This has been a great season! When I took over at the club, they sat in 21st place with 12 points from 15 games, so to get promoted is a huge achievement. I would love to keep Pritchard after his form last season, but I doubt I can. The whole team put a lot of effort into this and there will be a lot of changes next season, so it will be a shame to break up the squad but I will need to bring in higher standard players who can play well in the Championship. Getting promoted was a real shock, but it will be ever so hard to keep us in the league next season as the Championship is a harder league and it is going to be more of a struggle to win points. With the players we have along with new additions to the squad it should not be hard, but I am really looking forward to next season.
Wooo! He's done it! From zero to hero...Good luck in the Championship!
