Manager's review
Andrew Booy rested a few players for this game in Germany as City had already guaranteed progress to the next round. Gerry Taylor, Jonathan Tah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Giuliano and Marko Blazic came in for Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Martin Kaspar, Eder Alvarez Balanta, Alex Sandro and Esteban Gabriel Jesus Bogado. Bayern Munich had only Thiago and Holger Badstuber out with long-term injuries.

The two teams lined up as follows:

The result meant Bristol City finished TOP of their Champions League Group and will hopefully avoid a tougher 1st Knockout round opponent.

Manager's review
Andrew Booy named the same exact side that destroyed Hull last time out but only managed to draw......and it was one worse this time out!!! Liverpool had Jose Enrique out injured and former City defenders Chris Smalling and Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik were at the heart of Liverpool's defence.

Meet the squad!

9: Mario Buitrago

Buitrago is currently the best Bristol City player in the squad. He is 22 years old and already playing at his full potential. He is the Bristol City Captain and has played 168 games for the club scoring an impressive 101 goals. He also has 20 caps for Colombia with 7 international goals. In his 1st season at Ashton Gate he captained City to promotion to the Premier League and won the Sky Bet Championship Young Player of the Year and 2014/15 Bristol City Supporters Player of the year awards. He was then voted the European Golden Boy in 2016. Last season, on the way to lifting the FA Cup for Bristol City he broke the record for goals scored for Bristol City in a single season with 37 goals and won the European Golden Shoe and the Bristol City Supporters player of the Year for the 2nd time. Probably considered 2th best Player in the World behind Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

Bristol City spend BIG!!!!

The January 2018 transfer window has only just opened and Andrew Booy has splashed the cash with the 66 million pound signing of striker Timo Werner from Premier League rivals Arsenal. The 21 year old is the 7th German to join City's 1st team squad and will play up front as an advanced forward with Mario Buitrago. He joined Arsenal for 20 million pounds in 2014 from Stuttgart and has played 127 league games for the Gunners scoring 58 goals. Won the Premier League and FA Cup in his time in London, can he spearhead Andrew Booy's side to similar success? Has signed a contract worth 57,000 pounds per week until 2022 at Ashton Gate.

Bristol City also add players to their U21 development squad

Andrew Booy also added four players to his U21 squad at the start of this transfer window.

Tom Challinor 3.2K from Sydney Olympic FC

Fernandes Free from Cruzeiro

Jese leaves Ashton Gate

Bristol City striker Jese has joined his old club Real Madrid for a fee of 39 million pounds. The 24 year old striker has moved back to Spain after Andrew Booy signed Timo Werner from Arsenal and he was seen as surplus to requirements in Bristol. The Spaniard made 63 appearances for City in one and a half seasons at the club scoring 26 goals and getting 20 assists. He had potential but did not grow enough in his time at the club.
