Spurs Pre-Season Roundup

Tottenham Hotspur saw out their pre-season in style today, finishing unbeaten in 10 games, including a creditable draw against Spanish giants Barcelona

Roberto Soldado turned in some encouraging performances, scoring 10 goals in 5 pre-season starts, while Harry Kane netted 3 in 6, and notched up two assists. Erik Lamela also gave the fans something to shout about, netting 4 goals in 8 games, and making 3 assists also.

Englishman Andros Townsend was also in impeccable form, scoring 2 in 7, with 3 assists and an average rating of 7.74 ahead of the new season, where he will surely be in for some stiff competition for a place in the first team.

Very nice pre-season mate. Looking forward for your story :)

Griezmann Set For Spurs Switch

Real Sociedad today confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Spurs for the sale of left winger Antoine Griezmann, in a deal which sees Aaron Lennon move the other way.

Griezmann was reportedly a target for many of the Premier League's top clubs but Ardilles managed to convince him that Spurs was where he wanted to be

As reported in the Daily Mirror: "Antoine Griezmann is be the summer target for a cluster of Premier League clubs—with Manchester United, Liverpool and Everton joining Spurs in the race for the 23-year-old French winger."

"Yes, we followed him in great detail," said Ardilles. "He attracted other clubs as well. But we followed him, he is a known commodity."

Griezmann will provide a similar threat to Lamela, but on the left wing, as well as providing plenty of goals from a wide position.

Naturally left-footed and with great pace, he has scored several for Sociedad in La Liga last season, scoring 10 goals in 34 appearances.

He has yet to make an international appearrance, but has 2 goals in 6 u21 caps, and is sure to be pushing for inclusion at the world cup.

Top quality signing :)
The Grease Man ^_^ Good signing, hope his long shots don't ruin your style of play though :P
Kernel: Thanks buddy, just getting into the season proper now :)

Walter: Thanks! He's replacing Lennon as well, so hopefully his class shows through

Arvind: Here's hoping! but if it does i'll either get shot of them, or make them deadly :L
Griezmann is an excellent signing. I signed him for LFC back on FM13...his finishing was far from a strong point but his runs down the flanks did create a heap load of chances!

Spurs Kick off Season with a Win

The sun was beating down on White Hart Lane, as Tottenham opened their league campaign against Southampton on Saturday. Both teams featured some good talents, and it was a highly-anticipated season opener.

Tottenham XI

Lloris, Rose, Vertonghen, Dawson, Walker, Sandro, Paulinho, Griezmann, Lamela, Townsend, Soldado
Subs: Zieler, De Sciglio, Dembele, Adebayor, Kaboul, Eriksen, Kane

Southampton XI

Boruc, Shaw, Jose Fonte, Lovren, Chambers, Ward-Prowse, Wanyama, Gaston, Davis, do Prado, Lambert
Subs: Davis, Hooiveld, Yoshida, Reed, Forte, Debayo, Young

The game started slowly, both teams passing well and sounding each other out. Andros Townsend and Erik Lamela had a few half-chances for Tottenham, but they came to nothing.
The best chance of the half fell to Spurs right-back Kyle Walker, who latched onto a high ball into the box from Andros Townsend, but saw his shot blocked by the defender.

The second half was more lively; Tottenham carved the Southampton defence open multiple times, but Townsend and Lamela were wasteful in front of goal. Finally, Roberto Soldado latched onto a Kyle Walker cross to slam the ball into the roof of the net and hand Tottenham the lead and the victory.

Final Score: Tottenham 1-0 Southampton

Man of the Match: Kyle Walker

Looks like Loldado can score goals outside of penalties! B)
