Adebayor Retires from International Football

http://static9.bornrichimages.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/eman1.jpg

Tottenham Striker Emmanuel Adebayor has today announced his retirement from International Football, stating a hope that he could prolong his club career by doing so.

The Togo star, who scored 31 goals in 62 appearances for his country, is said to have taken a long time to come to his decision, but he felt it was the right thing to do for his career in the long-term. The 29 year old is young for an international retiree, but has found himself battling for his place at Spurs, and is on the transfer-list. Speaking to BBC News, Emannuel had this to say:

http://www.independent.co.uk/migration_catalog/article6253555.ece/alternates/w620/12-Adebayor.jpeg

"Obviously retirement is a decision which I thought about for a long time...My country is very close to my heart, and I would have loved to have continued to play for them, but I had to put my club career first; At Spurs, I am not the first-choice, or even second-choice striker that I would like to be, and I must push towards that goal. I know that I have the skill to break back into the squad, and help this side win trophies.
I thought he had already retired, but he is a legend either way

Sandro: World Cup is My Goal

Having recovered from damaged cruciate ligaments which kept him out for 7 months, Tottenham midfielder Sandro has set his sights on the World Cup in his homeland of Brazil as his chance to showcase his talents. Sandro has played in 13 of Spurs' 14 league games this term, but has yet to score a goal or provide an assist from his regular defensive midfield position. His performances though are consistent, and he is providing a rock for the new Tottenham formation to build upon.

Speaking to a brazillian football website, Sandro stated emphatically that "This year has got to be the year I make my mark; the World Cup is coming to my home, and I'm determined to be there to lift it for my nation.

Of course, Sandro faces stiff competition for his spot on the pitch, with Brazil well stocked in the centre of the park; Lucas, Ramires, Luis Gustavo, Fernando, and Paulinho all play in the centre of the pitch, and Sandro must know that his next 4-5 months must be the best football he has ever played.
