October Results 2013

After a terrible September, The Seagulls restored more stability than we'd seen last month. Despite this, the team still lost two games. But it would seem that we are back to our scoring, and winning ways. We managed to pick up six points from a possible twelve in the league, but we really should have got a better result in the away game against Yeovil Town, who at the time of the fixture, were rock bottom of the table. If we're going to be challenging for promotion this season, we need to eradicate losses like these from our game. However, beating Watford was a good accomplishment, and to end the month on a high could prove vital heading into November. Stefan Strandberg has been excellent in a blue shirt so far this season, and managed to score his first goal for Brighton against Yeovil. For me, the Player of the Month was Tomasz Kuszczak. Other than Stefan, the centre backs were poor, and lacked the ability to stop the attacks in the games that we lost. This is something that is unacceptable, especially since one of those defenders was our captain, Gordon Greer. I think that we showed our class at certain points this month, but the recurring problem seems to be consistency. Now, some fans were calling for Donald Vaughan's head this month, which I think is disgraceful. This is his first job in management, and he has got us in the top seven so far. It's been good to see Steve Gritt, a former player here, questioning the fans that are complaining, and questioning their faith in the club. The strikers seem to be back in action, although, having defended Tom Pope last month, I fear that my faith in him is wearing off. I still believe in his ability, and after he returns to fitness, I'm hoping to see a major improvement from him. Come on you Seagulls!

Brighton Capture Two Unnamed Players

Sky Bet Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion have made two new additions to their squad, according to Director of Football David Burke. It is believed that Brighton were in the market for a striker, following the criticism of current club strikers Tom Pope and Lenoardo Ulloa, who haven't been able to find their scoring boots so far this season on more than one occasion. However, Burke and the rest of the backroom staff at Brighton have been told by manager Donald Vaughan to keep tight-lipped on the subject. All that Burke would tell us is that two deals had been completed by the side, adding that Vaughan isn't allowing them to discuss with journalists who the two players are, because he does not want them to feel pressurized from before they even join the club.

"I will say that we've managed to complete deals for two players, and it is official. They will be joining in the January window, but Donald has told us, the staff at The Amex, to remain quiet, and not speculate who the players are. Both of the players have had experience in the English leagues, but the fans will have to keep on guessing, I'm afraid."

November Results 2013

After a much improved October, The Seagulls had one of their most consistent months of the season so far in November. We won two games out of four in the league, but we were up against some good teams, and our two wins were away from home. We perhaps should be beating Blackburn at The Amex, but they are in the top three in the league standings, so a lot of fans, myself included, are happy with that result. It was good to see Tom Pope get back into his scoring ways following the poor run of form he had before picking up his injury, and once again, it was a huge goal, as he came off of the bench at half time to score a last minute winner against Doncaster. We were very unlucky against Wigan, but following that game, it was clear that Vaughan had changed up the shape of the team, and it clearly worked in the next game. The team are now playing with five at the back. To me, this shows that Vaughan has noticed where we've been poorest, and reinforced that position with an extra man. We played fantastically against Bournemouth, and if not for a penalty decision from referee Geoff Eltringham, which on another day may not have been given, the scoreline would have looked more convincing.

Good to see you in the play-off spots, keep battling! :D

December Results 2013

With it widely reported that time was running out for Donald Vaughan, and with some tabloids even suggesting that the 27-year-old had been given an ultimatum by the Brighton board, the Arsenal supporter knew that he had to step it up this month. And what an odd month it was for The Seagulls. One week we were losing at home to Huddersfield, and the next week we'd beaten Blackpool away from home by a massive 0-6 scoreline. With reports that Vaughan had to salvage nine points from five games, starting from the Middlesborough game, things now look like they are going to work out for Brighton's unknown manager. Without a doubt, the player of the month in a Brighton shirt had to be Kazenga LuaLua, for his performance against Blackpool. He bagged the match ball, and threatened the whole game long. The fans are really anxious now to see who those mystery players that Vaughan has signed are, and we believe that we can still make the Playoffs. I have total faith in the boys, and it won't be much longer before we find out who these two players are.

EXCLUSIVE: Simon Ireland Sacked From Brighton

Brighton and Hove Albion U21's manager, Simon Ireland, has had his contract at The Amex terminated by Donald Vaughan.

Last week, Vaughan's position as manager was under threat, and Ireland publicly declared an interest in the post, should Vaughan be fired from the club. But now, following a recent turnaround in results, including a 0-6 win at Bloomfield Road against Blackpool F.C., he has secured his job status.

Of course, the atmosphere between Ireland and Vaughan would now have been very awkward, and the board gave Vaughan permission to sack the 42-year-old, who arrived at The Amex just this year.

Vaughan has given an exclusive interview with The Sun following the situation. Read the full interview below.

"Simon had been supportive of me before this incident, but I was shellshocked when I heard that he'd declared interest in the job. He didn't even seek out my approval before doing so, so I had to hear it through the media. If he'd have waited to see whether I lost my job or not before jumping into the decision, he'd definitely still be here. There may be a place for him here in the future, but right now we'll be looking at other options. As of today, the post of Under 21's manager at the club is now available."

SPFL Pair Sign For Brighton

Donald Vaughan has confirmed the arrival of two players at The Amex this afternoon, having previously managed to keep the names of the players under wrap until the opening of the January transfer window today. Having strongly hinted that a striker was the intended target for the winter window, Celtic forward Anthony Stokes is the first of the two players to sign for the club. The Irishman, 25, signs from Scottish champions Celtic for a fee of £110,000. Stokes has previously had spells in England with Sunderland, Arsenal and Crystal Palace. He had played sixteen times for Celtic so far this season before moving to Brighton, scoring on four occasions for the league leaders.

The second player to join the promotion hunting club is Scottish midfielder James McFadden. The 30-year-old is thought to have been bought to add depth to the squad, and he also brings experience to Vaughan's side. Much like Stokes, McFadden has had experience playing in England, with previous spells at Birmingham and Everton. The Scotsman, capped 48 times by his country, had also played 16 times for his side, Motherwell, before joining up with Brighton. He scored on two occasions, before being sold to the Sky Bet Championship club for a fee of £500,000.
Keep it up mate, awesome work :) Hopefully Ireland doesn't become unemployed then really chase your job haha :D
