Managers Thoughts

Another very poor month. I am starting to get very worried about my future, I have heard fans wanting my head and I have seen 'Evans Out' signs cropping up during matches. Even though I believe we haven't been as bad as the score line say's I am still worried. I got the lads into a room in training last week and I told them all this is not acceptable, hopefully we can improve.

Managers Thoughts

The lads have got together and have ground out a really good month. I am pleased that they have finally found form and hopefully this can continue because in the last 3 games we have been playing some really good football. I have changed up the tactics after the Brentford game and they really have took to it. The Blackpool game was fantastic and we really deserved to beat Blackburn as we were the better team. The Fulham game was just amazing, we beat a team that were playing Premier League football last season and were predicted to finish top, just wow!
Nice start to your story, even nicer banner ;) xD

Chelsea announce link-up with Rotherham

Chelsea and Rotherham United are pleased to announce a new link-up between the two clubs. This is a deal that will let Chelsea send players on loan to Rotherham. During the loan spell all of the player's wages will be payed by Chelsea. Rotherham are under no obligation to play the player regularly, yet he may be recalled at any time by Chelsea. An annual will take place between the two clubs in which Rotherham will host and keep all the gate receipts, yet Chelsea are under no obligation to field a full strength side.

At the link-up announcement, manager Steve Evans said "Obviously I am very happy to have this connection to one of Englands biggest club. I hope to take advantage of the link-up to bring some very good players that would not be getting a sniff of first-team football at Chelsea to The New York Stadium" Jose Mourinho added "Rotherham are a good club and have good fans so I have no doubt this is a good decision. Steve is a good man and hopefully my players can learn from this very handsome man haha"

Managers Thoughts

December in the Championship is famous for being tough on players. There are a lot of games packed into this harsh month and to be quite honest we have done well to come out of it with 6 points. I think there was a chance we could of come out with more. Brighton out-classed us, however we didn't play well against Charlton and we got caught pushing to many players up-front against Cardiff to score an equaliser when it was 3-2. However, this month will be put down as average and we are getting into the season a lot more now.

Millers complete Hume loan deal

Rotherham have completed the loan deal of striker Iain Hume from Preston North End. The 30 year old is looking to play regular first team football under manager Steve Evans and help keep them in the Championship.

At the press-conference Hume spoke about the move. "I was disappointed to hear that the Preston manager wanted me out, but I am here now and I am ready to put my all out for Rotherham and hopefully I can show Preston that they should have kept me there this season."

Managers Thoughts

Great, great month, a lot of games as well. I knew one month we would click and this could be the month. 1 defeat is amazing and I can only pray we have more months like this! West Ham will be really difficult but with the form we have been showing this month I can see us causing a cup upset. Really good time to be connected to the club right now.

ROTHERHAM UNITED v WEST HAM UNITED

Matt Smith (MS): Welcome everybody to what promises to be a special occasion. Only in the cup will you see games like this. It's the underdogs Rotherham versus the favourites West Ham and joining me are Roy Keane and Gareth Southgate. Currently West Ham aren't having the best of times in the Premier League, they are currently 18th in the league and are in a real relegation battle. Rotherham, however, are in good form. They enjoyed a great January and are really pushing away from the drop zone in the Championship.

Gareth Southgate (GS): West Ham must be feeling the pressure today, if they don't win then I can see their team losing a lot of confidence.

MS: Can you look past a West Ham win?

GS: Well I look at the 2 teams and you have to say that West Ham are certainly heavy favourites for the game, I can see Rotherham putting up a spirited display but I think the Premier League side have a bit too much for Rotherham.

Roy Keane (RK): I disagree, I believe that Rotherham have a wonderful chance. West Ham are going through a horrid time right now and I think that Paulo Di Canio would rather focus on Premier League survival than a cup run.

MS: Don't you think that a cup run might aid Paulo and his team in there relegation battle? Surely a cup run would help morale at the club.

RK: It could help morale but the more likely result is putting 11 players out for 90 minutes for them to win, only to get knocked out in the next round by a big team. Even if they do try you can't discount Rotherham's spirit. Lately they have been playing wonderful stuff, their last defeat coming against a very strong Middlesbrough team who are flying, I'm going for a Rotherham win today.

GS: I certainly don't want to discount Rotherham I just think that West Ham will be too strong for them. However, I strongly believe that Rotherham will give it there all. I am going for a West Ham win.

Line Ups

The Game

3' Hasselbaink picks the ball up from a spence throw in, he finds Revell in the box but his shot is hit straight at the keeper.

4' GOAL!!! Rotherham 0 - 1 West Ham. The ball is hit out to the left where Stewart Downing hits in a cross to the backpost and Andy Carroll is there to head it past Nash to put the Hammers one up.

4' NO GOAL!!! Rotherham 0 - 0 West Ham. After talking with his assistant the referee has declared that Andy Carroll was offside and has took back the goal.

14' The ball is being passed very well between the Millers midfield and it falls to Pringle 35 yards out who hits a ferousious shot which rattles the crossbar. It flies off the crossbar straight to Alex Revell who has a shot aswell and Jaaskelainen has to tip it onto the crossbar.

42' GOAL!!! Rotherham 1 - 0 West Ham. Skarz picks up the ball in the full-back position and runs the whole of the pitch before laying the ball off the Alex Revell. Revell looks up and finds Hasselbaink lingering around the penalty spot with a pin-point accurate pass and Hasselbaink powers it beyond a bemused Jaaskelainen

45' Skarz gets the ball just inside the Hammers half and puts in a through ball to Revell which beats the entire defence, Revell hits a powerful shot from just outside the box wich beats Jaaskelainen but rattles the bar.

HT

48' Taylor wips a free-kick into the box which Morrison takes down and controls well but his shot is wonderfully saved by Nash.

60' The hour gone and nothing much is happening. Rotherham are keeping the ball at the back trying to consolidate their lead but West Ham are pushing more and more men up.

81' PENALTY!!! West Ham have been awarded a penalty. A free-kick was wipped in by Jarvis and a poor tackle Wright left Taylor on the floor in the box. Rotherham players are protesting heavily.

81' GOAL!!! Rotherham 1 - 1 West Ham. Taylor powers his penalty into the right corner past Nash who guessed the correct way.

FT

Analysis

MS: So once again the cup brings us drama, a late controversial decision brings West Ham back into the tie. Lads what did you make of the penalty decision?

GS: Sometimes they are given, sometimes they are not. I personally I think that they should be given, the lad went in full-blooded but missed the ball and unfortunately got the man behind it. The late goal would hurt Rotherham but it will hurt the keeper more as he was so close to saving it, you watch it back and you can see him almost get his finger tips onto it but the penalty was taken excellently and even if Carlo did get his finger tips on it I think it would of still went in to be fair. Rotherham gave it a good go and their goal was fantastic but they would be gutted that they aren't in the next round.

RK: To be honest I thought he got the ball at the time but looking back on it I can see that Taylor just knocked the ball out the way before Wright connected.
Nice result and write up, good luck in the replay.
Justice Oh hell no! *cancels link*
Hunter Ye the banner is awesome! Forgot who made it though :p

Managers Thoughts

Not the best of months but hopefully the Ipswich result can spur us on into March. The Watford result was tough to take but the players all seemed to have and off day that game. We came back and played well against Wolves, especially Nigel Hasselbaink who worked his socks off that game. We got a result we thoroughly deserved against Ipswich and Wigan played well against us and a draw is a good result in my opinion. It is sad to go out of the FA Cup but taking a Premier League side to a replay is fantastic. The players played admiringly and can hold their heads up high this year.

March was a very long month and so is April, we have done poorly. The players haven't played well at the start but have picked up near the end. Hopefully we can kick on and keep the relegation battle in our hands.

Managers Thoughts

So there we have it, we survived. I would be lying if I said that I always knew we were going to stay up, at some points in the season (especially the start) I actually thought we were quiet simply doomed to playing League 1 football. But the lads have pulled off something fantastic and our fans will be going into the summer jubilant that they will get to see Championship football again next season. I hope the players all go into the summer and have a well deserved break. However for me, I get no rest this summer. I have to look around for new stars to wear the red. New potential legends. Next season is just as big as this season was, next season we push on up the table and who knows what can happen? This is the Championship after all!
