Exciting news as Newcastle announce link in the US

Newcastle Chairman Mike Ashley has announced the exciting news that the club have teamed up with Major League Soccer side New England Revolution.

"It's a great opportunity for the team to make ourselves known in a different continent. I hope, that as the seasons go on, more and more countries will be willing to link up with us, and we can make ourselves more well known around the globe. But for now, this development is very promising. There will be huge financial benefits for both sides as a result of this partnership - we are going to be paying New England an annual fee which will keep them happy, while the presence of our club in the US will hopefully benefit merchandising sales, like the sales of shirts."

As well as the financial benefits that the partnership offers, Alan Pardew will have the first option to buy any New England Revolution players. This means that when another team makes an offer for a player, then a bid of the same value must be accepted from Newcastle. This could be a good way to bring some younger players into the club for a fairly low price, as the facilities that New England possess are fantastic.

Finally, the two clubs will hold an annual friendly at Gillette Stadium. New England will keep all of the money made from ticket sales, but Newcastle will not be forced into playing a full strength side.

Zamora to train with Newcastle following QPR release

The agent of 32-year-old striker Bobby Zamora has confirmed his clients' release from Queens Park Rangers.

Agent Colin Parkes told Sky Sports that the Englishman, who became the hero for QPR in their Sky Bet Championship Playoff Final against Derby County by scoring a late winner to seal promotion for The R's, had been released by manager Harry Redknapp.

Parkes added that talks between Redknapp, Zamora and himself had been very civil, and that Zamora, capped twice by England, agreed to leave the club with a good heart. Zamora has previously played for Fulham, West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton and Bristol Rovers, but it remains to be seen whether or not the experienced striker will end his career following his release on deadline day.

But Zamora has been offered the chance to train with Newcastle United until he makes a decision about his future. The striker, who has cost a total of over £10 million to clubs during his career, previously worked with Newcastle manager Alan Pardew at West Ham United, and welcomed the chance to reunite with the 53-year-old.

"I was a little gutted to be released from QPR, but I can understand why they would want to get rid of me with the quality of strikers at the club, like Remy. I had a great time during my stay at Loftus Road, and I'm happy that I was able to get the goal that got them promoted. It's true that I've accepted Alan Pardew's offer to train with Newcastle United for the time being. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with some fantastic coaches and players, at least until I reach a conclusion about my future."

Zamora will be unable to play in any competitive first team matches during this period.

Strong start to Premier League season but Alan Shearer unconvinced

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has told Sky Sports that he is impressed with his former teams' start to the season, but has doubts over whether or not The Magpies will be able to continue their fine form throughout the season.

Shearer, now 43 years old, had a ten year spell with his hometown club between 1996 and 2006, and went on to have an unsuccessful stint in charge of the club.

Newcastle have started the 2014/2015 season strongly, but Shearer, who won 63 caps for England and is the Premier League's record goalscorer with 260 goals, says his former team may not have the mentality to keep their spot at the top of the league table.

With just six games gone, Alan Pardew's side sit in first place, one point ahead of reigning champions Manchester City, and have just beat Manuel Pellegrini's men 2-1.

Shearer was spotted in the crowd for the big game at St James' Park, and looked delighted when the final whistle blew, but he had some rather interesting thoughts after the game.

"It was a great win for the team. Vincent [Kompany] didn't have the best of games, and pretty much handed us the game with his unfortunate mistakes. The boys did play very well, but we can't be relying on mistakes in the future. They've showed glimpses of slipping up already so far against Crystal Palace, and, although we did come back to win the game 2-3, I don't know if we'd be able to do the same again. I'd love to be proven wrong, and I wish Alan and the team the very best."
