Newcastle announce Jansen signing as window opens

Newcastle United have announced the signing of German fullback Marcell Jansen on a four year deal from Hamburger SV.

The 28-year-old has amassed 45 caps for the new world champions, and was a key feature in Hamburger's side, but a release clause in his contract meant that that they had to accept a bid of £4.2 million from Newcastle.

Jansen previously played for Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach, but has told nufc.co.uk that he was holding out for a move abroad before the end of his career.

"It has always been a big ambition of mine to play in a second major European league, and now I've been offered the chance to do so. I'm happy to battle it out with Davide Santon for a place in the first team squad, as he is already an established member of the first team squad, and it might take a while for me to get myself a regular spot. But I'm happy to wait."

Jansen had made 13 appearances in the Bundesliga for Hamburger this season, but it is not clear who Mirko Slomka will bring in to replace the left back, who had been with the club since 2008.
Nice signing, hopefully he does well for you laddie
Good signing for you mate!

'Unsettled' Tiote joins Txuriurdin from Newcastle

Newcastle United's want-away midfielder has finally got his move away from St James' Park, after agreeing personal terms with Liga BBVA side Real Sociedad on a four year deal.

Tiote had been out of Newcastle's starting eleven for some time now, with the arrivals of Morgan Schneiderlin and Esteban Cambiasso in the summer.

Manager Alan Pardew had previously placed the Ivorian on the transfer list, but rejected bids from Valencia and Atletico Madrid.

The 27-year-old was unhappy with his manager for refusing to let him discuss terms with the two clubs, and became dissatisfied with life in Tyneside.

As the winter transfer window opened, Pardew once again offered the former FC Twente midfielder to a range of clubs, with Real Sociedad making a £7 million bid for him.

Tiote, who had played just four times for The Magpies this season, said that he was delighted to have secured a move away, but that he thoroughly enjoyed his time in Newcastle, adding that it was a shame he had to leave the way he did.

"Sitting on the bench isn't the best feeling in the world, so yes, I'm happy to leave England to start this new chapter of my career in Spain. But being at Newcastle and playing regularly like I had been for the past few seasons really benefited me as a player, and as a person, and it's sad that I've left in the way I did. The fans have been great to me, and if I had been getting playing time, I'd have jumped at the chance to stay at this wonderful club."

Ghanaian youngster joins as Steven Taylor leaves Newcastle

Newcastle United have announced the departure of long serving centre back Steven Taylor, who has left to sign for relegation threatened Leicester City.

Taylor had been with Newcastle since the age of nine, making a total of 197 league appearances for the club. A former England U-21 international, Taylor never managed to break through into the senior set-up.

The 28-year-old captained Newcastle on several occasions, but found himself frozen out of the team this season with the arrival of Ron Vlaar, who formed a strong partnership with official club captain Fabricio Coloccini.

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson parted with £2.3 million to sign the strong centre back, who has had experience in the second tier of English football with Newcastle, which could prove useful should The Foxes get relegated from the Barclays Premier League this season.

Meanwhile, Alan Pardew has announced a new signing - Ghana U20 international Kevin Tano has signed for the club from Belgian side Royal Antwerp, who have links with Manchester United.

Tano plays as a winger and has previously played for Dutch Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag. The youngster was in the last year of his contract with Antwerp, and Newcastle have signed him for a small fee of £43,500.

It is thought that the 18-year-old will go back out on loan to an English side, where it is hoped that his skills develop.

DEADLINE DAY: Newcastle United loan star re-signs for the club as QPR near relegation

Queens Park Rangers striker Loïc Rémy has signed a contract with Newcastle United, with whom he spent last season on loan.

After a successful spell on loan with Newcastle last season, manager Alan Pardew had tried to bring Rémy back to the club in the summer, but could not agree a fee with R's manager Harry Redknapp, who wanted to keep his star striker as they began their fight to stay in the Barclays Premier League.

But after a disappointing first half of the season, the London-based club sit rock bottom of the table with just two wins from twenty-three games.

Rémy, who previously played for Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille, was loaned to Newcastle last season, and hit fourteen goals for the Tyneside club in 26 games, with injury thwarting the pacey striker's chances of extending his tally.

A relegation release clause of £8 million in his Queens Park Rangers looked like it could have been activated, but Remy was desperate to leave the club before they went down, and forced through a £5.5 million move.

QPR had previously accepted a £3 million bid, with Newcastle striker Papiss Cissé set to head the other way. The Senegalese forward claimed that QPR were unable to meet his wage demands, and the deal collapsed.
Super signing!
Great signing! Remy was probably Newcastle's best player last season!
Long way from top 7 but hopefully you can catch up on those European places! :)
Looking like a solid finish to the season, you had a tough month!
