The Chance To Become World Beaters
Del Piero: Doumbia Nearly Became An Anderlecht Player

After Seydou Doumbia chose to join Red Bull Salzberg ahead of six clubs in Belgium including Anderlecht, Standard and Genk and also Aalesund, AIK and Brann from Scandinavia and FH and IFK, Anderlecht manager Allessandro Del Piero said that Doumbia was about five minutes away from being a Anderlecht player.
It was close, very, very close but in the end Seydou decided that accepting more money in Austria was the way to go so although we missed out on him, we know that we had one of the top offers. I think FH's offer in Iceland was huge too but he wanted the Salzberg experience also expect some more signings in the next five and a half hours.
Transfer Deadline Day

Lukaku Moves to Anderlecht
So after a frantic twenty-four hours Romelu Lukaku stole the headlines after Anderlecht waiting until 45 minutes before the deadline to confirm a £45,000,000 move to Belgium from Dutch side PSV. The striker, who played for Chelsea and Everton before moving to PSV after the collapse of the top seven nations now wants to concentrate on getting his spot in the Belgian National side back from Christian Benteke. Christian has got the spot that I want at the moment but I hope a move to a bigger league will now put me on a level playing field to the other Belgian players.
Joining Lukaku at Anderlecht is Richie De Laet, a £4,500,000 signing from Championship side Leicester and being Belgian and Home Grown he will no doubt get a chance at starting considering Davide Santon keeps getting injured but even Richie was surprised Anderlecht calling. I was astonished that they wanted me. But now I have got my move I need to capitalise on this and show them, when I get a chance what I can do.

Richie De Laet is a shock signing
Del Piero may well have missed out on a few players but he did, as promised sign Belgian players this window and that will no doubt please him.
