David De Gea signs new four year deal

David De Gea committed his future to Manchester United as he signed a new four deal at the club, keeping him until 2018.

The Spanish shot-stopper has been in fine form for United so far this season, and with interest gathering from PSG and Real Madrid, United wanted to tied De Gea down to a new contract as soon as possible to try and warn those clubs off the 24 year old. De Gea was very happy in signing the new deal, posting on his official twitter page that he was delighted to be staying at the club for 'another four years'.

de Gea joined Manchester United in 2011 from Atletico Madrid for an estimated fee of 17.8 million pounds. The young keeper was tasked to fill the boots of retired goalkeeper Edwin van der Saar and in his first season in the red of Manchester, he was hit with a lot of abuse by both rival fans and Manchester United fans alike for some mistakes he had made due to his young age. However, de Gea started to improve, putting in a memorable display in United's 8-2 victory against Arsenal, saving a van Persie penalty and denying the Dutch forward another couple of goals which gave his side the determination to push on and run out winners. He ended his first season well, getting another 8 clean sheets to make for a decent first season in the Barclays Premier League.

In his next season, de Gea began to flourish making some tremendous saves early on in the season, including a inspiration display against rivals Manchester City, keeping out many shots from both Carlos Tevez and David Silva. His best display at Manchester United was in the UEFA Champions League game against Real Madrid where he made a world class save with his foot to help his side achieve a 1-1 draw against the Spanish giants.

Louis van Gaal also expressed his delight in De Gea's decision to sign a new deal, speaking in his most recent press conference how happy he is that the Spaniard wants to stay at the club for the foreseeable future despite interest gathering from some of Europe's top clubs, saying the following;

"David is a quality goalkeeper, as seen not just in this season, but the previous seasons. He has improved a lot since he joined the club and this new contract shows not only our intent to keep him here for many years, but his intent to stay with us and help us achieve success in these upcoming years. He fully deserves his international call-ups as he is a magnificent goalkeeper. He keeps improving everyday and is always determined to succeed, which shows how serious he is about his career. We are delighted that he wants to stay and hopefully we can keep him here for the rest of his career".

With de Gea's new contract, back-up goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard looks set to move away from the club to seek first team football as van Gaal shows no intent to play the Dane as he has called up Sam Johnstone to the first team as van Gaal looks to the future, as he revealed that he prefers to work with younger players to help them grow and for-fill their potential. Johnstone had a great season on loan at Doncaster and could become the clubs cup goalkeeper very soon.
Nice update Joshwa
His real life of performances of late show he has really matured into a deserving #1 keeper at United, good you've kept him on board!

Lovely update, nice to see De Gea stay at the club.
De Gea is quality. Cant think of many young goalkeepers as good as him other that Courtious
De Gea has improved a lot in recent times, so that's a great bit of business there. Hopefully he continues to flourish and goes onto become one of the world's best goalkeepers. Great update as always Josh!

David de Gea is certainly showing the potential that Sir Alex obviously saw in him in the real world. It will be great to have him tied down to a new contract! Keep up the great story.
David De Gea has shown in recent seasons that he has what it takes to be the best keeper in the Premier League, and one of the best in the world. Nurture him well and you have yourself a make-shift brick wall in goals! :P
@James: Yeah, his transfer has really paid off. Thanks man!

@Justice: Haha yep! ;) Thanks Justice!

Luke Shaw picks up hamstring injury

Manchester United left back Luke Shaw has picked up a hamstring injury which will see him sidelined for up to a month.

The defender recently joined Manchester United from Southampton pulled up in his most recent game against Stoke and was taken off as a precaution. Later examinations showed that the England defender had torn his hamstring and as expected to be sidelined for up to a month, meaning that he will miss games against Hull, Leicester, Crystal Palace and QPR whilst he recovers, leaving the left full-back position vacant to other members of the squad.

Shaw has already made an impact for Manchester United, putting in a string of strong and consistent performances making him one of the first names on the team-sheet, however as he will be out for a month's worth of games, Louis van Gaal will have to look at his other players capable of playing in Shaw's position and decide who will play there whilst the defender recovers from his injury, with Alex Sandro expected to be the man named to fill in for Shaw.

Another alternative would be the versatile Dutchman Daley Blind, who played as van Gaal's left wing back for the majority of the World Cup. Blind was solid throughout the tournament and van Gaal may bring him into the team as he can trust the Dutch international to play well there after a successful World Cup with Blind playing as the left sided wing back. Marcos Rojo is another player who could also fill in the gap as he played as a left full back for Argentina.

Shaw limped off in United's most recent game against Stoke and looks to be out for around one month.

United had a solid September, gaining a one hundred percent winning record in games against two of the top teams, that being Arsenal and Tottenham. Shaw will be a big miss for The Red Devil's but van Gaal remains confident that his team can continue their good form into the next few months when he was questioned in his most recent press conference;

"Shaw's injury is very unfortunate as he is a good player and has started well in his career here so far. Although he is an important player, we are a very strong team and I believe we can continue our good form and rally around the injury to Shaw. We have many players who are capable of covering his position and I remain confident that we can keep on gaining points, even without our attacking threat down the left."

United play Hull next and as Alex Sandro was sent off against Stoke, Daley Blind looks to be starting instead, making his first appearance as a left-back this season. United still remain a very strong team even without Shaw and you would fully expect that they will be able to gain the maximum amount of points on offer when they begin October against Hull at The KC Stadium, followed by a visit to Selhurst park to play Crystal Palace, and home games against Leicester and QPR.
I have read every of this story and i do not comment enough! This update is awesome and he will deffo be missed i hope you can still get the results
