Sneijder: "I want to join Manchester United".
Dutch international and now free agent Wesley Sneijder has told the press that he wants to join Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.
The 30 year old has recently torn up his contract at Turkish club Galatasaray and is now looking at potential clubs to further his career at, however it seems that he has already decided on his destination as in a recent interview, the attacking midfielder has stated that he wants to join Louis van Gaal at Manchester United after the Dutch national team endured a successful World Cup under the guidance of the new Manchester United manager.
Sneijder is not getting any younger but by all means he could still add something to the Manchester based club after having a wonderful career playing for clubs such as Real Madrid and Inter Milan, however there has been no comment from either van Gaal himself or the club itself. Sneijder may well want to join United, but there may not be enough interest to force himself a move to the red side of Manchester.
Sneijder has collected a total of 310 career appearances, playing for Ajax, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Galatasary, scoring 85 goals in total. He is a well established international footballer, making over 100 appearances for his country and scoring 28 goals for them. He tends to play in an attacking midfielder position, mainly behind the striker to try and provide the assists for the front man, but also he tries to get into positions which he can score from.
Sneijder was an important player for van Gaal in this year's World Cup, which is another reason Sneijder wants to join United.
Sneijder released this information in a recent interview after he tore up his contract with Galatasary due to a row with the manager and the chairman about his contract, which in conclusion, made Sneijder leave the club for good without trying to reason with the board, making him a free agent with a whole host of clubs looking at securing the signature of the 30 year old. Sneijder said this in his interview;
"There has been a lot of interest in my services from a whole range of clubs around the World. They may be interested, but I am not, as I want to join Manchester United to play under Louis van Gaal as he is a magnificent manager. Can this move happen? I hope so, but that is up to Manchester United, however if they do come calling, I will most certainly join them as they are the best club in the World, and it is a dream to play for them".
Manchster United have really picked up their form and now sit second in the league table with 13 points. If they want to pick up Sneijder, they will have to wait until the January transfer window, but with players such as Rooney, Mata and Di Maria playing in similar positions to Sneijder, the question is, do Manchester United really need to sign Wesley Sneijder?
