van Gaal increases interest in Di María

Di María pictured with former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson at last seasons Champions League final.

New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has increased his interest in signing Real Madrid star Ángel Di María and is willing to break the bank to secure the midfielder's services.

The Dutchman wants to add 'pace and power' in his midfield after evaluating Manchester United's midfield which was continuously criticised last season due to the lack of both goals and assists making for United's worst ever league finish in many years, causing former manager David Moyes to be sacked.

Di María is re-portably unsettled at Real Madrid after manager Carlo Ancelotti stated that Di María is not a guaranteed starter after the Spanish giants purchased Colombian World Cup star James Rodriguez from AS Monaco for a reported fee of €80 million, which made him the most expensive Colombian in World football ahead of Radamel Falcao, which left Di María questioning his playing time at Real Madrid.

French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also rumoured to be interested in acquiring Di María's services, with a 40 million euro offer ready to be made within the next few days, however we understand that van Gaal has made Di María his number one target and Manchester United are odds on favourites to sign the Argentine due to van Gaal's admiration for the attacking playmaker.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti however stated to all the clubs pursuing the midfielder that it will take 'a record breaking offer to gain the services of Di María as he is an exceptional player who deserves a big transfer offer as he is one of the best in his position'. Real will be looking to balance the books financially after forking out record breaking fees for both James Rodriguez this season and Gareth Bale last season.

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has also backed new manager Louis van Gaal to sign Di María after playing against him many times when he was at Athletic Bilbao, telling MUTV that Di María can 'really add to the squad as he has all the traits that make a World class player, he has pace, trickery and is determined to do well whenever he plays'.

We will keep you up to date on this transfer rumour as it is one of the biggest topics currently on social media, with both Manchester United, Real Madrid and Di María trending worldwide on Twitter since these rumours began, giving yet more hope to United fans that this transfer window will be more successful than last seasons.
Dí Maria could be the man to bring United back to glory!
Nice start mate, I'm sure I will enjoy it despite it being United!
@Justice: Let's hope he is!

@Joe: Haha thank you!
He will definitely be a class player for you!
Never saw it coming. Why would Madrid sell Di Maria? Ronaldo might sulk, starting rumours about his return to United. Let's hope it's true :D
@Tallery: Agreed! :-)

@Akash: Haha yeah ;)

BREAKING: Marcos Rojo completes Manchester United move

World Cup finalist Marcos Rojo has completed his move from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United for a fee believed to be around 16 million pounds.

The 24 year old finalised his move to the red side of Manchester this morning, posing with Manchester United merchandise as seen above after completing his medical and signing his contract. The Argentine was part of the deal which took Portuguese winger Luis Nani, back to his former club Sporting Lisbon on loan for a season.

Rojo is the second defender to join Manchester United this summer, with full-back Luke Shaw also agreeing a move to the former Premier League Champions who were so ineffective last season, finishing out of the European slots which ultimately cost David Moyes his job. Rojo is expected to be a replacement for Rio Ferdinand, who left the club after making 312 appearances in 12 years.

The Argentine had a tremendous World Cup, helping his national side make the finals only to be beaten in extra-time courtesy of Mario Gotze, who slotted the ball into the back of the net to clinch Germany their first World Cup in many years. Rojo also made it into the team of the tournament after a great display over the course of the competition playing as a full-back, but we understand that van Gaal plans to use the left-sided player as a centre-half.

Rojo scored his first international goal for Argentina in a 3-2 victory over Nigeria, clinching the winner to help Argentina progress in their World Cup campaign.

The signing of Rojo has lead to the departure of Luis Nani, who went the opposite way to Rojo as he headed back to his former club Sporting Lisbon on a season long loan. Nani has been out of favour at Manchester United, making only a handful of appearances last season after failing to recapture his form from a few seasons ago, when he was compared to Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rojo is Manchester United's third signing of the summer but the first made by van Gaal after Ed Woodward captured wonderkid Luke Shaw and flamboyant midfielder Ander Herrera whilst van Gaal was still with the Netherlands national team in Brazil. Rojo spoke to MUTV after signing his contract, saying the following;

"It is a dream come true to sign for a club like Manchester United. As a kid, you always thought of this moment, and luckily, this dream has become a reality for me. I am excited to play under the manager, but also with my new team-mates as they are exceptional players who are real assets to the team. I cannot wait to play at Old Trafford, as it is by far the best stadium in the World."

This signing takes Manchester United's summer spending up to 75 million pounds, and with a few more players expected to arrive at Old Trafford before the window closes, you can not expect the spending to end here. This is currently the busiest Summer the club has had in a few years and Manchester United fans are loving it already.
Crazy! What if he isn't allowed to play for a bit due to his work permit though :/
Big, big signing in Rojo! I may not be a Manchester United fan, but I do enjoy seeing talented players do well :P
Rojo is a class signing :P
DID NOT SEE IT COMING! :O
@Jack: I hope that's not the case!

@Justice: Haha! He's a cracking young lad ain't he?

@Joe: Agreed!

@Walt: bs.
Rojo, wonder if he would get a work permit or sure up United's defence? ;)
