Great update, and I do believe that players tend to believe that game-time should be handed to them, but I think it has to be earned!

Totally agree Pauker! Some of the players aren't proving themselves when given the chance so I am left with no choice but to drop them for the next game and bring in the regular starters.
I hate players that think they have a god given right to have game time, your updates are great as usual keep them up :)

Thanks very much. It is nice to know I have the backing of follow managers! :)

August: Inconsistent beginnings...

To put it simply, the expectations of us this season is to put up a fight against the inevitable, which will be relegation. If someone had offered by 11th place after the first six games, I would have snapped your hand off. It already shows that we have something to contribute to this league and that we won’t be easily pushed aside, even against the teams that are tipped to be promoted, like Wrexham and Bristol Rovers.

The reason couldn’t have got off to a better start with a commanding performance against Macclesfield. We had a similar number of shots on goal but the difference was that our finishing was much better. You couldn’t blame me for thinking that the rest of the month would go along similar lines. Unfortunately Bristol Rovers got one over on us and brought us back down to Earth with one big thump. Our brilliant left midfielder Caine Winfarrah got injured part way through the game which restricted our play on the flanks. I personally think Winfarrah could have another great season if he avoids injuries and keeps providing the assists that he did last season.

The word inconsistent sums up our month with us not being able to get any positive streak going before being reminded that we are in for a very tough month. The biggest disappointment has to be the lack of contribution from Marc Newsham to the point where he had to be dropped for the game against Kidderminster. Unfortunately this may have turned out to be a big mistake as we had nothing up front to convert the chances that we created. Dayle Southwell tried his best but I don’t think we are going to quite have the quality needed in the attacking part of our game. The club is lacking funds big time, which restricts any movement in the transfer window; the fact that the transfer window is now closed could also be an issue. It is going to be an even bigger issue with us having to face league title favourites Halifax and other contenders Eastleigh in our next two games. I think that depending on how we perform in those next two games will define how our season is going to pan out.

Player of the Month – Kaine Felix

all in all it was a good month and fantastic 5-0 win :)
In my experience i would say that is an excellent start to the season. Mid-table is a great place to be for your first season in a new league. Plenty of wriggle room either way and if you maintain form (however inconsistent) over the full season at least you are guaranteed survival :)

The five nil was a great way to start the month but I do think it gave me false hope with all the other games that month.

It is "good" in my opinion but could have been slightly better. Maybe my expectations are too high? I hope to stay far away from the relegation zone and confident of doing so, if things go our way in terms of injuries and not conceding stupid goals like we did last season.

September: Cheating life...

Now I am going to come out and admit it. I feel that I have cheated a tad on this save due to not fault of my own apart from having a computer which seems incapable of handling the new 3D match engine without having a hissy fit and crashing my game. I have played this month now a total of four times as every time I got to the Lincoln game, the game decided to produce a runtime error, resulting in the game crashing and all progress being lost. This has meant that the month has gone many different ways until we have ended up with this final set of results, which is by far the most positive of all the results I earned.

The match against FC Halifax stands out with the Yorkshire club being tipped to gain promotion, it was a very good result for us to The Shay and come away with a point that we fully deserved. The game against Eastleigh went as expected and so did the game against Dover. Dover are languishing near the bottom of the league we were fully expected to hammer them despite having only just joined the division. Lewis Chambers showed that he deserves to get a look in the team as he repaid my faith in giving him a starting place by scoring a brace. Surprsingly for this season, Marc Newsham managed to get on the score sheet albeit from the penalty spot. He has been a huge disappointment for me this season and maybe I put him on too high a pedestal last season which he is slowly falling from.

What I have noticed with the team is that they are slowly becoming fatigued which means they aren’t playing to the standard that I know they are capable of. This does however mean that some players are getting a look in as they are being used as part of a rotation system. Players such as JJ Wilson (on loan from Colchester United), Lee Hendrie (former Aston Villa player) and Zak Mills are getting some game time here and there. There have been some rumblings from some players about lack of game time. Unfortunately, former player of the month Stefan Gallinski has decided he wants to find first team football elsewhere. This is quite frustrating as he was quite a good backup player and was used as a player who was brought in to help us see out wins. I have managed to secure £12.5k for him which is profit as he didn’t cost us a thing from Derby before I joined Boston United. Other players such as Kaine Felix and Kegan Everington (signed on a free transfer from Lincoln) are fighting for a place which means one of them has to sit out. At the minute it is Everington that is missing out, which is annoying him to the max. He is desperate for game time and will really have to make the most of the chances he is given if he is going to get the impressive Felix out of the squad.

Player of the Month – Dayle Southwell

I don't think it's cheating at all, it's just computer issues. I think everyone has been there. A fantastic start to life in the Vanarama Conference! Hopefully you can keep surging on from here.

It was so so frustrating. Turns out my pc can't handle streaming while playing...quite annoyed about that as I wanted to give streaming a real good go!
I feel your pain mate, i've had weeks of great results go down the pan only to be replaced with tripe! See this less as cheating than the baby jesus making sure you got the results you deserved ;)

Haha! I think some of the performances could have been better and would have been nice to pick up a few more points but nevermind. Onto the next month!
An inconsistent yet promising start to the campaign. Hopefully you can build on these early results and go onto have a great season!
Truthfully, a fantastic start to the season! :D
