7 Points and Cup Progression In February
Serie A
Inter suffered a shock defeat at the beginning of February to mid table side Cagliari. The home side couldn't cope with the blistering pace of opposition forward, Victor Ibarbo, and on 48 minutes the striker got his reward with a cool finish to put his side one up. Out of form striker Pablo Osvaldo had the chance to even the score with 7 minutes remaining from the penalty spot, but his shot was hit wide, with Ronaldo looking on in frustration. Andrea Cossu punished Inter after 93 minutes as the home side overloaded their attack to push for an equaliser. The result finished 2-0 to Cagliari, and has left Inter once again outside the top 3.
The travelling Inter fans saw a vast improvement from the shocking display at the Giuseppe Meazza last weekend. An early own goal by Chievo's Per Egil Flo gave Inter an early lead is the match. It only took 14 minutes for Mauro Icardi to add a second for his team, after lobbing the keeper from the edge of the box, and a 22nd minute penalty from the striker gave him a second and Inter a 3-0 lead early on. The first half rout was complete on 41 minutes when Dutchman Memphis Depay cut inside a curled a wonderful shot into the top corner. Flo's misery continued on 83 minutes as the Chievo player was sent off, they did manage a small consolation on 86 mins through Sergio Pellissier - but the 4-1 win will be enough to please the Nerazzurri as their push for the top 3 continues.
Internazionale took another 3 points at home on the third Serie A match day of the month, with a comfortable 2-0 win at home to Genoa. The goals came from Mauro Icardi (31) and defender Andrea Ranocchia (43) to ensure all the points would stay with Ronalo's men. The final game of the month saw Inter take on Lazio away, the hard fought game ended as a stalemate with both sides creating enough chances to win the game. A late red card for Gino Peruzzi tainted what was otherwise a professional defensive display from the visitors. The 0-0 scoreline has meant Inter have finished the month in 3rd, closing the gap on 2nd place Roma to 2 points, and 5 behind top of the table Juventus.

Coppa Italia (1/4 Final)
This closely contested cup match was made easier for home side Inter after Jasmin Kurtic was sent off for a terrible challenge on Chilean Gary Medel on the edge of the box after 50 minutes. Inter took advantage of the extra man, and on 63 minutes it was (of course) Mauro Icardi that opened Inter's account for the night. It took 3 more minutes for the side to double their lead as Frenchman, Yann M'Vila, tapped one home from 3 yards out. The 2-0 win means Inter face Napoli in the semi-finals, with AC Milan or A.S. Roma awaiting the winner in the final.
Europa League, 1st Knockout Round
Inter fans saw their team play out a fantastic night in Europe's second biggest tournament as they took a massive step towards the last 16. In front of a packed White Hart Lane, Fredy Guarin gave the away side the lead after 23 mins from a free kick 20 yards out. Inter's lead was doubled after 66 minutes as the inform defensive midfielder Yann M'Vila finessed his shot into the bottom corner. Andros Townsend got one back fro Spurs with 15 minutes to spare, but it's Inter who take the lead back to Italy, with a well earned 2-1 victory over a strong Spurs team.
The second leg was decided by a solo effort from new signing Richairo Zivkovic. The youngster from Holland ran from inside his own half to score a fantastic goal on 21 minutes to put his side ahead. The game ended 1-0, despite Spurs' relentless attacking towards the end. The result means Inter progress, facing more English opposition in Hull City in the next round.
