Newly appointed Anderlecht manager Enzo Scifo has held talks with journalists from around the country today, saying that the youth set up at the club will be crucial in the seasons ahead. The Anderlecht squad currently contains some of the most promising players in the country, including Aleksandar Mitrovic, Youri Tielemans and Dennis Praet, whilst some famous players from the academy include Premier League trio Romelu Lukaku, Vincent Kompany and Adnan Januzaj.
"Youth is going to be a huge focus for the club, and myself, as we push forward to becoming a competitive club in Europe. Players like Youri and Dennis are not only the backbone of the future Anderlecht, but have a role to play today. I plan on playing these youngsters throughout the season and moulding them into world beaters."
Youri Tielemans is considered to be the biggest talent in Belgium at present
It is no secret that Anderlecht's youngsters are highly sought after in world football, with Jurgen Klopp revealing that he has plans for signing Tielemans in the near future. Meanwhile, Aleksandar Mitrovic is not expected to be in Anderlecht colours much longer with interest from clubs such as AS Monaco and Napoli.
With a squad of almost half under-21 players, Scifo in reality has no choice but to play his youngsters. However, this youth approach should benefit the club in the long term and maybe one day, RSC Anderlecht can once more produce a world class player like Enzo Scifo.
