Aarons And Vuckic Extend Loan Deals
Rolando Aarons and Haris Vuckic have agreed a one year extension to their loan. They joined Rangers last year and were important in leading Rangers to the Championship title. Rolando Aarons assisted sixteen and scored five while Vuckic returned an impressive tally of seventeen goals in eighteen games.
Aarons joined Newcastle United in 2012 after being released by his home town club Bristol City. He made his reserve team debut on 8 February 2013 against Stoke City and scored in his second reserve game against Crystal Palace 17 days later. On 1 April 2014, Aarons signed a professional contract with Newcastle United.
Aarons is eligible to represent either England or Jamaica at international level. In August 2014, he received his first call-up to the England U-20 team, marking his debut with the opening goal in a 6–0 friendly match win over Romania on 5 September. His club manager Alan Pardew confirmed that, despite interest from Jamaica, Aarons intended to pursue an international future within the England set-up.
Aarons said’ I am pleased to remain a Rangers player and I have already become a better player in my year that I have been here and I hope to be an even better player this year.’
Born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Vučkić played football at NK Domžale from Domžale, a small town in central Slovenia, during his youth. A few months short of his 16th birthday he made a debut for the club against NK Celje in a Slovenian PrvaLiga match on 24 May 2008 coming on as a late substitute. As he was too young according to Football Association of Slovenia rules, his club was fined. After turning 16 in August 2008 he was finally promoted to the club's first squad where he would go on to play another four league games, before signing for English Premier League club Newcastle United.
He impressed in the 2009 U-17 European championship qualifiers against Turkey, Russia and Malta, where he scored three goals in three games. Despite only being 16 years old, Vučkić played for Slovenia during the finals of the U19 European Championships, held in the Ukraine in July 2009.
Vuckic said ' Mark Warburton is a good manager who knows how to improve youngsters games and Iast year I improved a lot and this year I hope to improve more. For me it was the most important thing to play football, and to play in Rangers a massive club who are pushing to be in the Premier League.'
