Sporting Clube de Portugal

Effort, Dedication, Devotion and Glory - That's Sporting Clube de Portugal

Born in 1906, by the hand of José Alvalade, Sporting started it's path for Glory. José Alvalade was a simpatizer of a club from Lisbon before founding Sporting, but one day he said enough - he wouldn't take part on a club that was made to be the host of parties and dances of the city. He wanted to compete, he wanted to create a club wich it's goal would be to win and be the best. So he left.
José Alvalade went home and asked his grandfather, Visconde de Alvalade, to fund him to create his own club. He fulfilled his wishes, and upon the creation of Sporting Clube de Portugal he stated - "We want Sporting to be a great club, as greatest as the biggest of Europe".
The "Lions" have conquered throphies throughout all the 109 years that followed. In Sporting's museum - Museu Mundo Sporting - there's more than 5 thousand cups and thropies.
In football, Sporting have won, beetween others, 1 Cup of Winner's Cup, 18 Portuguese Leagues, 16 Portuguese Cups, 8 Portuguese Supercups, 4 Championships of Portugal and 19 Championships of Lisbon.
After 1982, Sporting have struggled to affirm as the greatest portuguese club. In that time Sporting have only won 2 times the portuguese greatest trophy - Portuguese League - in 2000 and 2002.
In 2013, the club reached a new low, finishing the league in 7th place - the worst in it's history. But even in the darkest of times, there's light. And in this same year a new face refreshed Sporting's hope. President Bruno de Carvalho had reached his dream job, and since then Sporting is breathing better, and getting healthier by the day. For the last 2 years, President Bruno de Carvalho have saved the club economicaly and still making remarkable improvements in it's competitive performance.
Portuguese football, is, always was, and probably always will be a jungle. Not a safe place to everyone. But sometimes, all you need to do is ... to be a Lion.
So, my friends, Welcome to the Jungle.

Good luck! :)
Sporting are doing very well under Jorge Jesus in my Portuguese LLM save - 2 titles in 3 seasons. Hopefully you can replicate that.
Good luck!
Walter: Thank you. Yes, that would be great, we really need to get the league title as fast as we can.

Verdinho: Thank you :)

Jorge Jesus arrives at Sporting

In 1755, an earthquake shook Lisbon. And it wasn't until 2015, 260 years later, that the city would experience similar shock.
After 6 years with the Eagles, Jorge Jesus finished his contract and got back to the home that saw his first steps - the eternal rivals, Sporting.
In the last 6 years Jesus have lead Benfica to great glory. During that time he won - 3 Primeira Liga (Portuguese League), 1 Taça de Portugal (Portuguese Cup), 2 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira (Portuguese Supercup) and 5 Taça da Liga (Portuguese League Cup). He also reached for 2 times the Champions League Quarter Finals, 2 Europa League finals and 1 Europa League Semi Final.
Jesus got Benfica back in the track of success, after 4 years without winning the League title. Prior to that, Jesus had only won 2 titles - Segunda Divisão B with Amora, and Intertoto Cup with Braga.
And then, just like that, Jesus crosses the road for the other side of the Circular to embrace a new and passionate project - to manage the club of his heart.
Jesus grown watching his father dressing green and white with the Lion on his chest. At the same time, his love for the game and for Sporting was growing inside him, and he reached his dream to become a Sporting player in the first team.
His love for Sporting was never questioned, but did someone believe that one day, the man who rescued Benfica, and put them in the top, could arrive at the rivals of Sporting?
The answer is yes. Jorge Jesus had, long time ago, promised to do that to one person - his father. The opportunity came when Sporting's President, Bruno de Carvalho, aproach him with the intention of bringing him home. The negotiations were quick - both men knew what they wanted.
And today, the doors of Estádio José Alvalade XXI opened to receive Jorge Jesus to his dearest home. In a emotional afternoon at Alvalade, Jesus saw thousands of fans to come see him for the first time as Sporting's football head. The club also prepared a video to Jorge Jesus who couldn't avoid a couple tears coming down his face. The new Sporting manager leaved the promess of "fighting for the title" - and to "awake the sleeping Lion".

Awesome money for Carrilo - 15m and he goes to a different league so he can't return to hurt you ;) Your squad looks great, a title challenge is definitely on the cards.
Walter: Carrillo wasn't as stupid as in real life and accepted to get sold. :D Very good to everybody, because if he didn't, he wouldn't play a single game.
