Preseason News and Notes

Preseason went really well for the club. In the seven matches played I feel the guys really worked hard especially with how difficult the schedule was. The big highlight was the 1-1 draw against DC United. I could not believe we almost beat them. Also the match against Chicago Fire was massive as well. We lost by a goal but the bigger club seemed pleased as we were no pushovers.

The best part was we made tons of money especially with two sellout matches. During our meeting to review the preseason I was told we made $32,132 in ticket sales. I can't believe that as what I was told is that they only made $40,394 for the total of last year. If you are interested here is the breakdown of finances. July Financial Data for Chicago Magic. My god that is insane we made so much. I guess that is the advantage of facing pro teams at home.

Next month will be our first month here in the National League East. We start off against the Pawtucket Rangers at home. They seem like a really good club as they have been playing since 1900. They are known as the Cocks lol. Other than that match we get to travel to Puerto Rico to face the Islanders. That should be interesting going to Puerto Rico to play. Also we face a few clubs who I have had experience with in transfers. The biggest is Northern Virginia Royals. As you recall they offered me the head coaching job back in December.

Well that should wrap up the preseason.
Really nice graphic there, good luck ahead of the season. :)

Chicago Magic get first victory under Arnold and other club news and notes.

Glen Ellyn- Last night was a big night for newly promoted Chicago Magic as they faced their first opponent in the 2016/17 the Pawtucket Rangers. It was also big for Head Coach Kevin Arnold as he hot his first win with the Blue and Red. 98 supporters came out to the West Chicago Village to see what the new manager had in store.

Early on the Magic seemed to be the one in control thanks in part of their 4-2-4 formation that gave the visitors a heck of a time defending. Chicago would start off he match from a beautiful goal by striker Danny Bishop. The 22 year old was able to score off of a header that could not be stopped by the Pawtucket goalkeeper.

Three minutes later Pawtucket's Maurizio Ballarini would trip one of the Magic players inside the box giving the home side a chance to convert a penalty. After playing a quick game of rock, paper, scissors Bishop would step up to try his luck. Referee Juan Guzman blew the whistle to let Bishop know he could go. Bishop would step up and convert the penalty.

Chicago would lead 2-0 and stay that way the rest of the game. For Kevin Arnold his breakout performer of the match was Phillip Foose. The reason is Foose is only 15 years old and joined the club back in June during the youth intake day. If he keeps up the good work like in this match he could become a club legend.

"This was an amazing match to coach and I saw so much that made me happy. This is only the beginning and we can go up from there. After such a hard preseason I feel the club was ready to play their best ." Kevin Arnold addressing the media during his post match press conference.

Match Overview

Other Club Notes:

In transfer news the Magic are all done a month early with their additions of the squad but that does not mean they are really done. After the match Arnold had let everyone know that they have signed 21 year old french striker Hervin Ongenda on loan from partner club Paris Saint-Germain. Ongena will be meeting the club at their next match in San Juan, Puerto Rico when they face the Islanders on the 10th. He is not expected to start but will most likely be on the bench. The club is also looking at adding another player from PSG on loan. It is most likely going to be a defender or midfielder.

On the injury front there is only one injury to report. 17 year old defender Patryk Leach is still out due to a Damaged Achilles Tendon suffered during training camp. He should be back in about 2-3 months.

Finally the club will return to the College of DuPage on the 20th as they face the Northern Virginia Royals.
some incredible graphics here mate, really enjoying this!

You will see with the next update sometime tomorrow (Saturday) lol. The big issue is all three guys get called for international duty lol
Some brilliant players coming in, if you could bring in more players which are around the same type of level then wow.

August News and Notes

So this will be sort of a long month in review because there is so much to cover. This might have been my busiest month since starting my coaching career. Pretty much we had six matches, a busy final month of the transfer window and just other crazy things going on.

So my first month in charge of league matches was very interesting. First we start the year off with a great win but then it got bad real fast. After match day two I had honestly though the end was closer than expected. In the first match against Puerto Rico I knew we would have trouble due to the long trip but didn't think it would be as bad it was. Match day three was the worst game I have ever managed honestly. Facing the Baltimore Comets we played like absolute garbage with letting six goals go through and both goalkeeping and defense was a disaster. The next match just made me sick, we faced the NoVA Royals a team that wanted me so badly and it was a scoreless draw. That might have taken me over the edge. Luckily for us some help came from PSG and the rest of the month was better.

So I had decided On the start of the month we were done with transfers. Boy was that stupid of me!!! During the three match crap streak I was ready to find more talent. As much as i have been Anti PSG I really needed them. So one day I decide to call them up for some loans Thankfully they were cool and sent me three great guys.

With that I had felt really bad for Mitch (Hidebrandt). He was one of my first signings and I felt he was the goalkeeper that we needed. I knew him during my trial in Minnesota and he was super cool with signing with the team. Sadly he just wasn't playing well and needed some help. We ended up getting Alphonse Areola on loan. Telling Mitch that was hard but he wasn't upset or anything.

With the three PSG guys and some extra training things improved. We would win the final two matches of the month. The final match against Reading was unreal. We would score 7 goals and just embarrass them. Hopefully we continue this form.

Finally before I start talking September lets talk about a guy named Danny Bishop. Seriously no offense to him but if you looked at his ratings that the USSF and FIFA come out with he is really crappy. Only rated 1 star the kid is proving everyone wrong. In the month he score eleven goals yes I said that right ELEVEN GOALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It must be the tactics because last year i had a guy rated just as bad score like crazy. My only issue is that Danny has a man bun (look at the picture of him above). If I could I would fine him for having one. I told him he needs to get rid of it haha.

September will be pretty busy as well. We have six matches plus the USOC on the 24th. Currently it is not known who we will be playing but I am ready. We have some interesting clubs this month, the most notable is Green Bay Athletic Club aka the Green Bay Packers. Yes this is ran by the same group that runs the NFL Team. That match might get rescheduled due to the cup though.

So that is all I have to say about August.
That Baltimore result :O
Bishop doing good things for you, I always like an underdog :)
5-6... wow crazy game!
