Premier League Gameweek 1 Fixtures

Let me know if something is forgotten!

Faroe Premier League Gameweek 1

Amazing result for Lyon, 3-0 at Leverkusen. Morata announced himself with 2 goals, and there were also debut-goals for Babacar, Ocampos, Sissoko, Kane, Sisto and Berardi.

Well done to Berardi for a debut goal, unlucky on the result. Onwards and upwards now hopefully though.

Faroe Premier League Gameweek 2

Game of the Week:
Shakhtar - Leverkusen

After the kick-off, Shakhtar quickly took charge of the game. They played quick on the counter and controlled the 1st half. After 9 minutes, Zlatan fell over theatrically in the box, after a shove from Florenzi. Penalty to Shakhtar!

But Rulli saved the penalty! Shakhtar kept pushing on, and only 2 minutes later, they got their reward. A nice move ended with a pass from Zlatan, setting up Fred. His left-footed shot found the bottom corner, and 1-0 to the home side.

Shakhtar were dominant, and created several good chances, but Zlatan had not found his shooting boots, and blasted most of them wide. However, as the game pushed on, if Leverkusen were to get anything from the game, that would be a complete robbery. But then again, with their attacking players, anything can happen, and 15 minutes from time, it did. Jose Gaya came down the left, and played a perfect cross to Vela, who couldn't miss. 1-1

That was it, a 1-1 draw, and a good point for Leverkusen from a game that Shakhtar may have deserved to win.

Other Results

A fabulous hat-trick from Berardi gives Kyiv a win. Ajax grab a surprising 3 points away at Lyon, and the Morata-Kane partnership has really hit it off.

Faroe Premier League Gameweek 3

Shock at the San Siro, as Milan go down to hard-working Sporting. Berardi continues his amazing goalscoring form, putting away his 5th in 3 games. And Ajax keep impressing, taking another win, bringing them to the top of the table!

European Update

Champions League

Group A

Everton have gotten a very tough group, and looked on par to getting off to a good start, if it wasn't for a late Llorente goal stealing a point for Sevilla.

Group D

Zenit look to have gotten an easier group, and should compete with Barcelona for the #1 spot. A strong draw away at the Camp Nou gives them a good start to the group stage.

Group E

In another tough group, Milan get off to a dream start. Not only do they beat Napoli at home, but Atletico draw to Austria Wien, dropping 2 points.

Group F

In another tough group, Leverkusen also get off to a great start, courtesy of a late Bernardo Silva penalty.

Europa League

Group B

Group C

Group G

All Europa League teams seem to have gotten groups where qualification should be fairly straightforward.

Faroe Premier League Gameweek 4

Game of the Week: Dynamo Kyiv - Schalke 04

Two exciting lineups here. Strong keepers and strikers on both teams should give a good game.

Right from the start, Dynamo Kyiv took charge of the game. Lead by a rampant Bellerin down the right flank, they created several chances, however, they needed a hand, or should I say foot, in getting the opening goal. A low cross from Bellerin was put in the box, where a very clumsy Jonathan Tah put it into his own net. 1-0!

Bellerin was not done! Right before half time he rushed down the right, and was brought down by Tah, having a nightmare first half.

The league top goalscorer Berardi stepped up, but Trapp went the right way and made a fabulous save! Still 1-0

The game slowed down and not much happened. Dynamo Kyiv controlled the game, and late on, Suarez struck a free kick into the wall, picked up the rebound and somehow found the net from a very tight angle. Trapp did not cover himself in glory on this goal. 2-0

That was the end of the game. A very solid 2-0 win for Dynamo Kyiv, and another poor game from Schalke.

Other games

A strong win for Ajax away at Inter continue their fairytale start to the season. Milan also grab the win in a tight game vs Zenit. Leverkusen also strike back in an entertaining affair vs Corinthians.

Faroe Premier League Gameweek 5

Game of the Week: Shakhtar - Milan

Two very solid lineups backed by two great keepers. In the end, both keepers would play key parts in the final result.

Shakhtar took charge of the game early on, creating a few opportunities, but mainly shots from distance. Milan defended deep, and threw their bodies in the way of any shot that approached Courtois in the net.

Then, after 11 minutes, a freak incident kicked off the scoring. A deep cross from right back Mario Fernandes looked to be dropping harmlessly into the hands of Joe Hart.

But somehow, the England stopper decided to stand by to watch Dybala produce an impressive leap for a man of 177cm. Dybala rose and came close to slamming his head into the bar, as he headed home from a distance of about 23cm. 1-0 Milan

Shakhtar looked spurred on by this, and took charge of the game again. Milan seemed happy to let them keep the ball, but Shakhtar produced some very sleek passing moves to carve their way through, only to be stopped by Courtois, or a last ditch block, every time.

Milan did look dangerous on the counter, however, and Dybala hit the post with a fierce shot after 35 minutes.
In 1st half stoppage time, we had a huge moment of controversy. Dybala and Alli jumped for the ball in the centre circle, and as Dybala won the header, Alli fell over injured after the challenge. Milan played on and got the ball forward to Harry Kane, who fell over theatrically in a duel with Rakitskiy. The ref pointed to the spot.

After 2 missed penalties in the last 2 Games of the Week. Xabi Alonso decided that the 3rd time was the charm. He hammered the penalty into the top corner, leaving Hart with no chance, despite going the right way. 2-0 Milan.

After half-time, Milan kept defending well, blocking every shot, and even creating a few chances. Especially Harry Kane, who hit the bar with a thundering header, looked dangerous. Shakhtar, on the other hand, were frustrated by their many missed shots, and kept firing into blocking defenders time and time again. Yarmolenko and Taison were at fault for squandering several opportunities, as Courtois wasn't tested too many times.
In the end, Milan win after a very Leicester-esque performance, where they gave the ball away and waited for counter attacks.

Dynamo Kyiev beat Leverkusen in a tight battle, and climb into 3rd place. Ajax suffer a surprising defeat at the hands of Schalke and Corinthians climb away from the bottom spot after a home win over Porto

European Update

Champions League

Milan and Zenit take big steps towards qualification while Leverkusen and Everton suffer tough defeats.

Europa League

Big wins for Inter and Lyon as Shakhtar continue their poor form, suffering a shock defeat at the hands of Hannover. Also fun to see West Brom in Europe! Wondermaker Tony Pulis doing well!

Faroe Premier League Gameweek 6

Game of the Week: Ajax - Corinthians

Two creative sides that look to be better in attack than defence. Perez and Higuain should provide the goals for their respective teams.

The game kicked off with the home side controlling proceedings. Ajax focused on utilizing the flanks, and it was through a deep cross from right back Luiz Antonio that they made their breakthrough. A good finish from a tight angle by Carillo gave Ajax a 1-0 lead.

After this, Corinthians started to fight their way back into the game, and right before half time, they got their reward. A nice through pass found Perez all alone, and he slotted the ball past Cech to make it 1-1.

After half-time, the home side were back in control. Lead by a couple of very tricky wingers, they carved the Brazilian side open time and time again. And after one of those moves, Higuain was left completely alone in the box. The Argentine took his chance brilliantly, and brought the Dutch back in front.

Only 4 minutes later, he was at it again. After a nice passing move, Higuain squeezed a shot in at the near post. Not too impressive goalkeeping this time, but 3-1 to Ajax nonetheless.

And that's how it ended. Another excellent win for Ajax, who continue their very impressive start to the season.

Other Results

Bad week for the Milan-clubs as they both suffer 0-2 defeats. Ajax take back top spot in a very even league.

Faroe Premier League Gameweek 7

Game of the Week: Milan - Inter

The Madonnina Derby is this weeks game in focus. Two teams with technical strikers and wingers full of flair. It should be a lively affair!

After a rather dull start, without big chances, it took 25 minutes before we saw the first chance. A through pass from Verratti found Kane on the flank. He hammered a cross onto the head of Paulo Dybala, who headed home from 3 yards. 1-0 Milan. However, this was not without controversy, as the Inter players gathered around the assistant referee, complaining that Kane had been offside. But the flag was down, and Milan opened the scoring.

Boosted by their goal, Milan went back on the attack. Cavaleiro got the ball on the left flank. He looked up and tried to cross for Kane. However, the cross was completely overhit...

Somehow the ball sailed past Rico in the Inter net and into the top corner. A complete freak goal and 2-0!

The game slowed down after this. Inter kept the ball, and Milan created the chances on the counter.
Milan looked in control until 15 minutes from time, when a set piece paid off for Inter. A free kick rebounded off 4 players, and dropped to Jovetic. He hammered a shot into the bottom corner with his left foot. 2-1!

You would have thought Inter would throw everything forward, but not much happened after this. And Milan could grab all the 3 points from the derby!

What an amazing week for Faroe Teams. 7 teams, 7 wins!

Faroe Premier League Gameweek 8

Game of the Week: Lyon - Zenit

Two teams with very exciting foward-players and two brilliant young keepers. In addition, the central midfield of Lyon looks very strong with two young playmakers.

The game started off as a tough battle. Both wingers of Lyon picked up knocks in the first 10 minutes, as they had to endure tough treatment from the Zenit defence. Lyon had most of the possession, and created a few half chances. However, right before half time, captain fantastic decided to make a difference. Lacazette picked up a brilliant through pass from Bentaleb, held off the defence, and finished with the outside of his boot into the bottom corner. 1-0 Lyon!

Lyon took their lead into the break, and came out of the break still in control of the game. But, not much happened. There weren't too many big chances, and none of the teams played well. However, after a late moment of brilliance from Grenier, Fekir was played clean through. He went round the keeper and you'd bet your house on him to score.

But somehow, Oblak saved it!

That was the end of the chances, as the game ended 1-0. Zenit had a horrible game, not creating a single proper chance, while the central midfield of Lyon were dominant the whole game through.

Other Results

Milan draw for the first time this season, while Shakhtar continue their surge in form under Klinsmann. Ajax continue to impress, and take back 1st spot as Leverkusen also continue their improved form.

Faroe Premier League Gameweek 9

Game of the Week: Leverkusen - Milan

A full strength Leverkusen side take on a weakened Milan side. Some of the top performers in the league are on show in what should be an exciting match.

Leverkusen took charge of the game early on, controlling possession and creating chances. Milan looked second best at everything. It only took 15 minutes for the deadlock to be broken. A set piece was cleared out to Florenzi, who brought the ball across the box. He then fired a hopeful shot that took a big deflection to land in the bottom corner. 1-0 to the home side.

Leverkusen seemed to want it more than the Italians, and they kept pushing on. But Florenzi decided he hadn't gotten enough attention with his goal. He launched an insane lunge on Antonelli and got a deserved sending off.

This gave Milan a way back in the match, but chances were few and far between as the teams heded into the break.
At half time Milan took Zapata off, bringing on Abate, and having to use a fullback as centreback. However, Abate would make a difference as Milan made a corner count. It was floated to the far post, where Harry Kane headed it down. Rulli was on a walkabout, and Abate had an easy job hammering it into the empty net. 1-1

You would have thought that this would encourage Milan to pus for the win, but it was Leverkusen that wanted to play football. After another set piece, Gaitan recieved the ball on the left, and put a pinpoint cross on the head of Paco Alcacer. The Spaniard made no mistake in restoring the lead for the Germans. 2-1!

Milan tried a late surge, and got a late chance through Kane. But Rulli produced an amazing save to deny the Englishman and secure the points for the home side. A well deserved win, as MIlan never looked up to par.

Other Results

The perfect results to make the league even closer! Dynamo Kyiv, Leverkusen and Lyon close in as Ajax suffer a shock defeat at home to Everton. Shakhtar have climbed out of the relegation zone as Zenit have suffered from their poor run of form.
