INJURIES

Michael Mancienne. The defender bruised his thigh during pre-season and will miss the first week of the season, ruling him out of the first game of the season against Brighton.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Eric Lichaj

The full back has had an exceptional first pre-season under the stewardship of Nigel Clough, achieving a 7.62 rating over the course of the club’s pre-season friendlies. Was outstanding against the likes of West Ham and will most likely have earnt his place in the Starting XI that Clough will choose when the Championship starts against Brighton in a few days time.

SCHEDULE

A tricky start to the season for new Manager Nigel Clough as he takes his Nottingham Forest south to meet Brighton & Hove Albion who look a dangerous side under manager Chris Hughton. A Capitol One Cup fixture against Colchester United is next for Forest before two successive home games against sides being tipped to be battling relegation this season as Rotherham United and Charlton Athletic visit the City Ground. Next Forest will visit the Macron Stadium to meet Bolton Wanderers, before playing Cardiff City, hoping to return to the Premier League, at the City Ground, either side of a potential Capitol One Cup Second Round tie.

MANAGER’S THOUGHTS

A mixed pre-season for us. The games we lost against Barnsley and Doncaster, our performance was poor and we didn’t deserve to win which was frustrating. We changed the tactic against West Ham and it came up trumps and we managed to pick up successive victories meaning we head into the start of the season on a high of winning several games on the trot. Obviously no new transfers because of our transfer embargo which is frustrating but fortunately we’ve had no new injuries to add to the long term injuries to players we already have.

Bright is a tough first fixture, but hopefully you can take a high number of points from the opening month!
Decent pre-season, hopefully you can get off to a flyer at the start of the season!

Yeah it won't be easy but hopefully we can get something from it! Some tough fixtures but we've got a good squad to get something from them!

SKY BET CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW: BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION VS. NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Date: 07 August 2015
Kick Off: 19:45 GMT

Brighton & Hove Albion
Manager: Chris Hughton
Captain: Gordon Greer
Key Players: David Stockdale, Gordon Greer, Beram Kayal, Solly March, Bobby Zamora
Last Match: 3-1 Vs. Crawley Town
Form:

Fans Prediction: ”We’re a very good side but last year we perhaps weren’t at the races for a long time. However Chris Hughton has come in and he has a very good record of taking teams up into the top flight and hopefully he can have a great season in his first season in charge. We’ve got some really good players in this squad but it seems like we’re abandoning the passing, possession kind of play that Gus Poyet built at this club. However if Hughton can take us up or even into the play offs or even the top half then we will be really happy.” Predicted Finish: 1-0 Brighton Win

Nottingham Forest
Manager: Nigel Clough
Captain: Chris Cohen
Key Players: Dorus de Vries, Michael Mancienne, Henri Lansbury, Jamie Ward, Nelson Oliveira
Last Match: 2-0 Vs. Ilkeston
Form:

Fans Prediction: ”We’ve had a good pre-season and a new manager that all the fans are getting behind. Hopefully under Nigel Clough we can start to really rebuild this club and it can start to move towards the level we all want and feel it deserves to be at. Starting against Brighton it’s the start of a new era and hopefully we can go down south put in a good performance and come back with the three points. If we do then Clough’s time at the club is off to the right start and we can start to look forward to the rest of the season.” Predicted Result: 2-1 Nottingham Forest Win

Nice preview there. I bet you win big
It will be a tough game, hopefully you can come out on top!
Great update. Brighton are a difficult team to play but I think you can beat them.
Brighton are a tough outfit to break down but Forest have a very good strike force, certainly good enough to defeat a team like Brighton :)
One game at a time, its going to be a lonngggg story haha!

2016-04-10 14:43#229129 ScottT : Great update. Brighton are a difficult team to play but I think you can beat them.

Yeah they're not the easiest team to beat!
2016-04-10 17:55#229168 Jack : Brighton are a tough outfit to break down but Forest have a very good strike force, certainly good enough to defeat a team like Brighton :)

Chris Hughton's got them very well organised but you're right we so have an abundance of forwards and some good attacking midfielders so we can do enough to beat them!

2016-04-11 11:49#229222 Griffo : One game at a time, its going to be a lonngggg story haha!

Haha it would be but you know that's not my style man ;)

CAPITOL ONE CUP FIRST ROUND UPDATE

12 August 2015
http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af298/Mg1001/Nottingham%20Forest%20Story/2015-2016%20Season/First%20Round%20Result.png

Nottingham Forest eased into the Second Round of the Capitol One Cup with a comfortable 4-0 victory over League One side Colchester United at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. Nigel Clough’s side had the opportunity to be 1-0 up after only 3 minutes when Jamie Ward was brought down when charging into the penalty area, earning Forest a penalty. However the victim of Richard Brindley’s poor challenge missed the resulting spot kick.

Forest finally had their lead after only 32 minutes though as Ben Osborn found Danny Fox out on the left wing before the Scottish full back crossed into the back post to find Oliver Burke who was on hand to slot home to make it 1-0. Forest went forward in search of more goals but were always denied and at half time the score remained the same at 1-0 to the Reds.

However in the second half, they came out a different side as Ben Osborn switched the play to the right wing with Oliver Burke, who in turn found Eric Lichaj, before the American crossed deep to find Nelson Oliveira at the back post who made it 2-0. A third followed in the 69th minute as Burke and Lichaj combined again, this time to find Jamie Ward on the penalty spot who took the ball down and placed it into the back of the net to make it 3-0. The misery was further compiled by Forest who in the 89th minute saw Eric Lichaj’s cross punched by goalkeeper Walker only as far as Burke who slipped it to his right to find Nelson Oliveira who tapped home to make it 4-0 and seal Forest’s place in the Second Round of the cup.

CAPITOL ONE CUP SECOND ROUND DRAW

http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af298/Mg1001/Nottingham%20Forest%20Story/2015-2016%20Season/Second%20Round%20Fixture.png

The draw for the Second Round of the Capitol One Cup sees the Premier League sides who are not competing in UEFA competition enter the tournament. For Nottingham Forest though, Nigel Clough has been handed a tough tie at the City Ground against his former side, Sheffield United, a side he led to the Semi Finals of the competition last season.

Good Result mate! Keep it up!
