DANNY FOX LEAVES FOREST FOR ELLAND ROAD

21 August 2015

_______________________________________________
- Defender signs for Leeds on 3 year deal for a fee of £33.5K
- Full back stayed at the City Ground for just under a year and a half
- Made one appearance for Nigel Clough’s side this season in the 4-0 win over Colchester

Danny Fox has today completed his transfer to Elland Road to join Leeds United in a deal worth £33.5K to Nottingham Forest. The defender, who made one appearance for Nigel Clough’s Forest side before completing the deal joins a Leeds side looking to end their stay in the second tier of English football and return to the big time, much like Fox’s former side in Nottingham Forest. With 4 caps under his belt, Fox is keen to get more first team football under his belt at Elland Road and fight his way into the Scotland team for any possible involvement at EURO 2016.

Upon his arrival at Elland Road, Fox stated ”I am delighted to have completed my transfer here. It is a fantastic club with a massive amount of history and it is going to be an honour to pull on the shirt of this magnificent club. Hopefully we can go on to have a very good season and reap the rewards.”

Despite being under a transfer embargo for the rest of the season, Nottingham Forest manager Nigel Clough is believed to be happy about the sale of Danny Fox, as it frees up funds in Forest’s wage budget to bring in a new player. Without the ability to bring in players for a fee, Clough is believed to be looking to sign a replacement on a free, with former Swansea City full back Dwight Tiendalli being targeted by the former Burton, Derby & Sheffield United manager, as cover for stand in captain Eric Lichaj.

- Nottingham Forest confirm the signing of Dutch full back on free transfer
- Made 27 appearances for Swansea in Barclays Premier League after spell at FC Twente
- Has signed a three year deal at the City Ground

Nottingham Forest have today confirmed the signing of former Swansea City and FC Twente full back Dwight Tiendalli. The Dutchman who can play in either full back role, but is more comfortable on the right flank has said he is delighted to join such a prestigious club, claiming he is confident that Forest can progress well under new manager Nigel Clough. By signing a three year deal at the Liberty Stadium, Tiendalli is confident that by the time that contract expires the club will have made massive progress.

In his initial interview with the club’s official website, Tiendalli stated ”I am delighted to officially be a Nottingham Forest player. I’ve known about their interest for a while and to have it finally completed is fantastic. It is a magnificent club and I can’t wait to get started when the games start coming thick and fast. We have a great squad of players here with a brilliant manager and it’s a privilege to work under them. Hopefully by the time this initial contract comes to an end we’ll be at a whole new level and be in a much better situation.”

After securing the first signing of his managerial reign, Nigel Clough declared his delight upon the completion of the deal. ”We have secured the signing of a fantastic player. His versatility is magnificent and the fact that he has Premier League experience is a brilliant extra bonus. Hopefully he’ll play a lot of football for us at a high level and help us move to the level that we are all striving to achieve.”

Two very interesting developments, hoping there's a few more to come!

Isnt going to be easy mate! So little options available in the free transfer market, just going to have to put up with the squad we've got i think!

I hate these restrictions haha, it's been a pain in the arse, just hope the players we've still got available to us dont get injured!

CAPITOL ONE CUP SECOND ROUND UPDATE

26 August 2015
http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af298/Mg1001/Nottingham%20Forest%20Story/2015-2016%20Season/Second%20Round%20Result.png

Sheffield United got one over their former manager Nigel Clough as they eliminated his Nottingham Forest side out of the Capitol One Cup in the Second Round. The blades were off to a flying start in the 6th minute as Woolford played a searching ball into the penalty area to find Chris Basham who took a touch before firing a powerful effort towards goal. The effort was saved by Dorus de Vries who could only parry the ball into his own goal to give Sheffield United the lead.

However Forest were aggressive and ruthless with their attacking play and they found their equaliser in the 10th minute as Jay McEveley headed the ball clear, but only as far as Jamie Ward. The former Derby midfielder took the ball down before running into the area before he unleashed a curled effort into the far top corner to level the scores at 1-1. However despite dominating, Forest were unable to take the lead and in the 43rd minute they were punished as Woolford ran through the Forest defence before squaring to Billy Sharp who placed the ball into an empty goal to make it 2-1 Sheffield United.

In the second half, Forest seemed to change tactic and Clough’s tactical tweak appeared to work as the Reds took the upper hand again and persisted on taking shot after shot with Nelson Oliveira having a powerful effort tipped against the post by the Sheffield United keeper. Despite pressing for the equaliser Forest were pegged back again though in the 68th minute as debutant Dwight Tiendalli was sent off for two yellow cards meaning Forest were down to ten men. Then in the 77th minute, United were 3-1 in front as Che Adams found himself free at the back post and able to get on the end of Woolford’s cross into the penalty area. The Reds were able to pull one back in the 79th minute as Nelson Oliveira connected with Dani Pinillos’ cross. However despite looking for an equaliser again, Forest were unable to find a third goal as they were eliminated from the Capitol One Cup by a side a division below them.

INJURIES

Michael Mancienne. The defender is suffering from a twisted ankle meaning he will miss the next three weeks of action.
Matt Mills. One of Dougie Freedman’s last signings as manager has yet to make an appearance for Nigel Clough’s side having strained his knee ligaments and missing the next 5 weeks as he continues his return to full fitness.
Ben Osborn. The youngster who made a fantastic start to the season is out of action with a groin strain but should be ready for action come the return of domestic football after the international break.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

JAMIE WARD
http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af298/Mg1001/Nottingham%20Forest%20Story/2015-2016%20Season/Jamie%20Ward.jpg

After a thrilling start to life at the City Ground, the former Derby midfielder has scored 4 goals in 6 games in all competitions. Unfortunately his goals in the games against Cardiff and Sheffield United weren’t enough to save the club from defeat but his performances in the rest of the month have been top drawer and the Forest fans will be hoping that his form can continue into September and beyond.

SCHEDULE

http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af298/Mg1001/Nottingham%20Forest%20Story/2015-2016%20Season/September%20Fixtures.jpg

A slightly less hectic September for Nottingham Forest as they return to action with only 4 games. Their first game after the international break sees Forest visit Loftus Road to take on relegated Queens Park Rangers, before continuing their trips on the road against Birmingham City at Saint Andrews. The Reds will play their only home game of the month against promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough in a tie that could well be very entertaining before seeing out the month away at Huddersfield Town.

Manager of the Month: Steve Bruce, Hull City
Player of the Month: Ben Reeves, Milton Keynes Dons
Young Player of the Month: Lewis Cook, Leeds United

MANAGER’S THOUGHTS

Well, what an entertaining and interesting start to life at the City Ground. Two wins, two draws and a defeat form the first five games of the season is a good set of results and I am very happy with how it’s gone. We’re still doing a lot of learning in training and hopefully next month the performance levels will be up another level. We’re a good team and I am very happy with who we have at this club and hopefully next month and beyond, we can start pushing for more wins. To have dropped out of the top six with the defeat against Cardiff was disappointing but it happens, especially this early in the season but hopefully if we can keep picking up the wins we’ll soon be challenging for the top six again.

Solid enough start, need to get on a good run though to work your way up!
Some unlucky results in there, dropping points to Rotherham of all teams must have been disappointing :P
Pretty good start to the season, but next month will be a true test with the likes of QPR and Middlesbrough to be faced!
