I don't blame you for breaking out the vodka! ;) I know just looking at the results make you think it is going to be a long season, but you did play the top teams in the division already, some points can be picked up elsewhere :)

Brutal start... hopefully you can pick up some points realllly soon!

That's a cruel start mate, hoping you can pick up some wins and get back on track :(

Not the best of starts to the season but you've proved yourself a more than capable manager and you can turn the morale issue around!

Match of the Month

I chose this match, the last of the month, not because it was a great result or because we were blown off the park but because it featured our first ever Premier Division goals, which should tell you how the rest of the month went.

We opened the scoring through Serder Serderov in the 26th minute before conceding 2 of the softest, down right stupidest goals you will ever see to send us to the break 2-1 down.

Firstly we allowed the Ufa left back, a guy by the name of Tishkin, to casually stroll into our penalty area & bury a shot in the far corner while our defenders merely looked on & watched, before an absolute brain fart from Vitaliy Ryabushko allowed Rylov to score unopposed.

To our credit we fought back in the second half & managed to snatch a point, but on this performance, we wouldn't expect to get too many more.

August Results

So, in all, we started the campaign by going a club record 6 matches without scoring. Thankfully, the one area of our game that did manage to hold up was our defence, which allowed us to pick up a few points.

Unfortunately, when we did finally trouble the scorers, our defence went missing, making taking any kind of positives out of the month extremely difficult.

Table

The one positive we can definitely take is that, despite still looking for our first win, we're out of the auto drop spots. Apparently there are 2 teams that suck worse then us! I pity their managers!

September Preview

September shapes as a real chance to pick up our first win with my eyes firmly set on our match with Rostov, one of the few teams doing worse then ourselves.

A home match up with Tom is also a winnable game, while our Cup tie against Fakel could have been much worse. In all, I'd like to progress in the cup & pick up our first win in the league, entirely reasonable requests I believe!

Some points will certainly make you feel a bit better but a win would be very relieving at this stage!

Finally a couple of goals. And only two days of travelling to get to the game, practically a derby
Some invaluable points, for certain.... Hopefully there will be more points to come in the next month!
The lack of goals rather than the points would be my main concern at the minute mate! At least once the goals start flowing the results should hopefully come with them!

Match of the Month

This is the match I thought was a good shout to deliver us our first win. Rostov were below us on the table, had scored fewer goals & conceded more. To my mind, this was an extremely winnable game. Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell Rostov!

After a reasonably even first half an hour, Rostov sprung to life, taking the lead in the 38th minute through Nikita Birmistrov & adding a second, just 6 minutes later, when Christian Naboa played a sneaky back heel through our defence for the on rushing, Nika Kacharava, to tap in. 2-0 at the break.

I encouraged the guys to fight their way back into it following the break but, although we enjoyed plenty of possession, chances were hard to come by.

With 20 minutes remaining, striker Nikita Birmistrov ended our resistance, easily skipping past Mathias Bossaerts before slotting the ball into the far corner to put the game beyond doubt. A disappointing 3-0 defeat in a game in which we should definitely be doing better.

Note - Apologies for the highlights package, something has gone wrong when uploading. I will attempt to fix it the next time I get some spare time.

September Results

So, despite a disappointing defeat at the hands of Rostov, we did go on the record our first wins of the year, following an extremely fortunate result in the Cup against First Division side Fakel.

We took the lead early in that match but were thoroughly outplayed for the remainder, somehow hanging on for the win, thanks more to Fakels ineptitude than anything we could muster.

The result gave us some confidence though & we returned to League competition with back to back wins over Terek & Volgar to end our winless run & restore some pride.

Table

Up to 11th as we take 7 points from a possible 12, amazingly we sit just 1 point behind last years champions, Rubin. Our for & against still leaves a lot to be desired however & goals are still proving hard to come by. We'll take confidence from the month though & I'm hopeful that'll all change in the near future.

Stats

Awards

Vitaliy Ryabushko becomes the first ever Baikal player to be mentioned in the Premier Division's monthly awards, voted 3rd place in the player of the month. A fantastic effort from the Ukrainian.

Unfortunately, a decent player by the name of Hulk keeps him out of the team of the month.

October Preview

So, we'll take plenty of confidence from September & boy are we going to need it!

Matches against Krasnodar & the mighty Zenit to start before facing the Champions in the cup & finishing with what may be our only hope for points this month, a home match against Ural.

Obviously I don't hold out a lot of hope when it comes to our first 2 matches, just not being embarrassed would do me fine but that home game against Ural is definitely one I want to win, so 3 points from October will do nicely.

Make sure you don't get altitude sickness that high up the table. :P

Good wins just have to get a couple wars

Match of the Month

I think the screenie above just about sums this match up. When you're 3 goals down after 12 minutes, you know something's gone terribly wrong!

I all, we conceded 4 goals in the first half, all from set pieces, & improved only marginally in the second, shipping "just" 2. Our 2 shots on goal both come after Zenit netted their 6th goal, so its fair to say at that stage they felt quite comfortable. A devastating result!

October Results

Disappointment most definitely the theme for the month as once again we lose every match & fail to score in doing so. We were vastly outplayed by Krasnodar but were looking good to hold on for a point until the 88th minute, unpleasant as that was, I couldn't complain.

Zenit destroyed us, we crashed out of the cup with barely a whimper & were soundly beaten again in the one match I thought we were actually a chance. Just horrible. I'e been in bad patches before, but nothing like this! Things are looking very grim indeed.

Table

So, its straight back to the drop zone as our revival proved to be sensationally brief. Too many more months like October & we'll be back in the First Division before you can say Alan Dzagoev! Just look at that goal difference! Horrendous!

Stats

The B. Berisha that currently sits 3rd on the assists charts is Bernard Berisha, not former A-League goal sneak Besart. I checked. Disappointing really :P

Awards

A Zenit player has taken home every player of the month award this year! Not suggesting anything untoward is happening, just saying.

November Preview

That's not the schedule you want to see on the back of a 4 game losing streak in which you've failed to score a single goal!

Current champions Rubin, Spartak & CSKA followed by Kuban..... In current form, if we don't go into the winter break on the back of a 8 game losing streak, I'll be very surprised. :(

Still plenty to play for, the season is far from over!

I love seeing how far you have to travel, do you actually know how they get to each game... surely private planes in Russia are a common thing?
You're still capable of staying up mate, it just might be a very tight finish but you've proved yourself capable of doing what needs to be done!
