Sitting pretty up top, finish it off MG!
2016-08-21 22:45#236537 Jack : Superb season mate, you've really got the momentum back in the hearts of the Parma players and fans. I'm not sure how the Italian system works if you get promoted from this division, but I'm sure you'll tear it to shreds once again :D

Yeah, couldn't have asked for much better to be honest, but don't think next season will be as straight forward! We're promoted but go up against the other sides that won their divisions to be crowned Champions, which is coming round about now :P

Consider it done mate ;)

Manager’s Thoughts

We are delighted to have secured the title, it means we are officially the best team in the Lega Pro after being the best team in Serie D last year. It shows the remarkable progress of this team and it means we can go into this summer’s break off the back of more success and we can be extremely happy. We’re now going to go on a long break that will hopefully see us come back refreshed and ready to hit the ground running in Serie B next year and hopefully with a few new faces around the club.

ALESSANDRO LUCARELLI ANNOUNCES DECISION TO RETIRE

02 June 2017

Iconic club captain Alessandro Lucarelli waves goodbye to his fans after playing in his last game against Messina in the Coppa Italia Lega Pro Final.
________________________________________
- Club captain announces decision to retire after making 274 appearances in the league
- Only made 15 appearances this season for Parma
- Is widely expected to become Parma’s new assistant manager at the end of the season

Iconic club captain Alessandro Lucarelli today confirmed that he would retire from football at the end of June after realising that his future lied in a role off the pitch. Lucarelli only made 15 appearances for Parma this season after it is believed he fell out of favour with Vanoli because of his lack of pace and inability to keep up with the pace of the league Parma were playing in. His error in the second leg of the Coppa Italia Lega Pro final helped Messina go and score their equaliser on the night and this will remain his last contribution to Parma on the pitch.

Lucarelli spent longer at Parma than any other club during his career after appearing for teams such as Piacenza, Fiorentina and Genoa over the course of his long career, but it is Parma that the defender speaks most fondly of. ”I achieved so much at Parma and some of it such as the last two years will live with me for the rest of my life. I love this club and that is why I stayed after we were demoted but now it is time for me to take a step back from playing and allow my place in the squad to be taken by someone younger. My hunger for the game has not diminished but I know myself that my role and number of appearances will only decrease now that we’ve gone up another level so from now on it is down to the younger players to give their all for the club.”

Manager Paolo Vanoli saluted the defender and the contribution he made during Vanoli’s ongoing Parma career. ”He is such a big figure at this club and the respect that the other lads had for him, even those that have come in as signings that I have made, was fantastic. He has put in so much for this club and he is more than deserving of the respect and tributes he is getting from people associated with the game. I wish him all the best for the future and I hope that part of that future is here with us at Parma.”

It is expected and being widely reported in local media sources that Lucarelli will fill the assistant manager position at the club that will become vacant at the end of June as Bruno Redolfi’s contract is expiring at the Ennio Tardini.

2016/2017 SEASON REVIEW

17 June 2017

SERIE A TIM

In Serie A this year it was once again Juventus’s year as they finished three points clear of Roma, who led the table for most of the season. It was Roma and Napoli who took the final two Champions League spots whilst Lazio, Internazionale and AC Milan took the three UEFA Europa League spots.

Meanwhile at the bottom of the top flight, it was heart break for Hellas Verona, Empoli and Ascoli who were relegated to Serie B.

SERIE B

In the second tier of Italian football, it was Carpi who returned to Serie A at the first time of asking, whilst SPAL 2013 made it two successive promotions to secure top flight football, whilst Pro Vercelli were the final team to win promotion after play off success.

However at the bottom, making the dreaded drop to Lega Pro, it was devastation for Avellino, Crotone, Virtus Entella and Mantova who all crashed out of the second tier.

LEGA PRO

In the third tier of Italian football it was four former Serie A sides who were promoted to the second tier as they all continue to push for a return to the top flight as Parma, Vicenza, Cesena and Catania who secured promotion to Serie B.

Meanwhile at the bottom, Venezia, Lumezzane, Olginatese, Pistoeise, Arezzio, AS Gubio, Taranto, Cavese and Ischia Isolaverde were the nine teams whose poor seasons led to them being relegated to amateur football and Serie D.

THE TIM CUP

For the third successive season it was Juventus who took home the TIM Cup as they secured successive League and Cup doubles as Paolo Dybala scored the winning goal in the final.

THE UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

In the Champions League Final at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, it was Real Madrid who won their 11th European Crown, beating rivals Bayern Munich on penalties after a 0-0 draw in normal and extra time.

THE UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE

Meanwhile at the Friends Arena in Stockholm, Manchester United took home the UEFA Europa League title as they beat German side Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 in the final.

Sad news about Lucarelli but we know that there will be a worthy replacement for him!
Sad to see the skipper retire, but the season has been a tremendous one for him to end on. Onwards and upwards for Parma!

2017/2018 SEASON TARGETS

23 June 2017

Holders: Carpi

Holders: Juventus

Initial Budgets

Once again we have been given quite a large budget for the level we are at and some of Serie A’s weaker teams won’t be given as much money. It means that if we can spend it wisely like I think we did last summer, we could have a very good squad again. The squad we have come up with is, for my money a good squad and although there are areas that need the quality touching up, I don’t think we will need a major overhaul to be able to compete at the level of Serie B’s sides this year.

A very generous budget there, you should be able to strengthen the squad sufficiently for the challenges ahead!
2016-08-27 12:21#236664 Justice : A very generous budget there, you should be able to strengthen the squad sufficiently for the challenges ahead!

Yeah there will be one or two faces coming in this summer with that budget :D

PARMA REVEAL KITS FOR SERIE B RETURN

01 July 2017

________________________________________
- Parma reveal the kits to be worn during the 2017/2018 season
- Season is club’s first back in Serie B since they were demoted from Serie A
- General reaction from fans is one of approval

The annual kit reveal has finally arrived in Parma as the recently promoted side have revealed their kits for the upcoming 2017/2018 season in which Parma will compete in the second tier of Italian football, Serie B. The general consensus around the club’s fanbase is one of approval as the kits continue on from last season’s kits as well as adding their own unique touches.

The club will continue to play in their yellow and blue hooped home kit similar in style to the kits home kit from the 1999 UEFA Cup Final. Away from home the club have adopted a kit similar to last year’s away kit only this year Parma will play in grey and black, whilst for their third kit Parma will wear a white and purple strip.

Manager Paolo Vanoli has spoken to the media at the club’s official kit launch stating ”This kit is a throwback to an era that we are trying to get to once again and it is a great kit. The fans are longing for a return to that era and we will try our absolute best this season to try and at least get part of the way back to that time.”
