Last Match: 3-2 Vs. Livorno
Form:

Fans Prediction: ”We didn’t expect to make the start to the season that we’ve gone and made so this is fantastic so far and we’re all really enjoying it. The squad that Paolo has built looks like its really enjoying playing together and could fire us to the top flight which would be brilliant. Norbert Gyomber said in an interview that the fans are filling them with belief but it is the players that are filling us with belief so there is a real togetherness at this club at the minute and that is what I think will fire us to victory in this game.”

Spezia Calcio
Based In: La Spezia

Manager: Davide Ballardini
Captain: Francesco Migliore
Key Player: Ivan Martic
Injuries & Suspensions: Colin van Eck, Mohamed Fares
Last Match: 1-0 Vs. Chievo Verona

Fans Prediction: ”Considering the media predictions about where we’d finish this year, we’re having a poor start to the season. Meanwhile Parma are flying and Serie B looks like it could be really open this year. To keep this short, I do think we’ll win though, because we have to if we’re going to make a real push for promotion to Serie A this year with the league being as open as it is.”

Player of the Month

Yves Baraye

The Senegalese midfielder come forward has been in scintillating form in October scoring once and earning two man of the match awards. These awards are more than deserved after forcing his way into the starting line up as a result of and at the expense of Francesco Corapi who missed a section of the month through injury.

Injuries

Alioune Fall. The third choice goalkeeper is currently in the treatment room suffering from a strained stomach muscle and will miss another 2 weeks of action.
Yoan Severin. The French defender who started the season as first choice central defender is sidelined with a groin strain and will miss the first two weeks of action in November.

Next Month

November sees the difficulty level of Parma’s fixtures ramp up another level. First up is a tough game against current pace setters Cesena, who are themselves another newly promoted side who are challenging for promotion, before Hellas Verona, relegated from Serie A last year and struggling near the relegation zone in Serie B, visit the Ennio Tardini. Frosinone are the next opponent, who at the moment are third in the table, making for another difficult game, whilst Paolo Vanoli’s men host relegation threatened Casertana in their final league game of the month. For Parma, the final fixture of the month is another big game as Paolo Vanoli’s men travel to Bologna in the TIM Cup Fourth Qualifying Round where they will hope to get another positive result against Serie A opposition as they look to set up a First Round tie against Italian Champions Juventus.

Manager’s Thoughts

Another brilliant month and for us to still be in a promotion spot is fantastic and if it can continue next month then the fans and everyone associated with the club will be amazed and absolutely thrilled with how the season is going. After coming up from Lega Pro and being tipped to finish 16th by the media, and then to sit 2nd after 11 games is brilliant and I cannot fault the lads for their effort and work rate. Promotion would be brilliant but it is by far not in our thoughts at the moment. Next month promises to be difficult with some big games against the likes of Verona and Bologna in the cup but with the team spirit as high as it is, anything is possible.

Still unbeaten in the league!!! Big trips to Cesena and Frosinone ahead, I've got a good feeling about Parma's chances in them!

Position: 1st
Manager: Paolo Vanoli
Captain: Raffaele Di Gennaro
Key Player: Niccolo Belloni
Injuries & Suspensions: Carl Medjani
Last Match: 1-0 Vs. AC Cesena
Form:

Fans Prediction: ”We’ve put ourselves in a really good position after the victory over Cesena and we’re all really impressed by the way the team has started the season. Verona are having a really poor campaign so far and the result of this one should be easy, Parma victory, because we’ll be really letting ourselves down if it’s anything other than that.”

Hellas Verona
Based In: Verona
Position: 15th
Manager: Nenad Bjelica
Captain: Eros Pisano
Key Player: Federico Viviani
Injuries & Suspensions: Vladimir Disjlenkovic, Christopher Samba
Last Match: 2-0 Vs. Virtus Lanciano
Form:

Fans Prediction: ”We’re really not having a good season and we’ve not coped well with dropping down into Serie B. We’re in a worrying position where relegation looks like a serious danger and unless we can pick it up, Bjelica has to go. Maybe not after this game, even if we lose because Parma are having a great season so far but a few more defeats and then yes he needs to go.”

Player of the Month

Francesco Corapi

The ageing midfielder has had another very good month for Parma in which he has once again showed just how important he is to this team. Continually putting in strong performances from the wings, his ability in front of goal is worthy of Serie A sides and he is a massive part of Parma’s success story so far this year.

Next Month

Parma enter the final month of the calendar year hoping to recapture their best form, starting the month against play off chasing Bari before a struggling Pescara side visit the Ennio Tardini. Mid table Brescia are Parma’s next opposition, before the big derby against rivals Juventus takes place in the First Round of the Coppa Italia. More mid table opposition lie in wait when Catania visit the Ennio Tardini before Parma finish 2017 with an away trip to bottom club Lecce in a game Paolo Vanoli will be confident of taking three points from.

Other News

08.11.2017: After two years of fine performances for Parma, and despite his injury plagued start to their Serie B season, Rodrigo Alborno finally made his debut for the Paraguayan national team, playing 45 minutes in the teams 6-2 victory over Kuwait.

Manager’s Thoughts

Not the best month that we’ve ever had, and the two defeats against teams that are struggling in the division at the minute is really disappointing. The defeat to Casertana more so than that defeat to Verona as the latter was just a very good late goal, meanwhile our performance against Casertana was dreadful and our defending was actually atrocious. The victories against Cesena and Frosinone though, showed how well we can play when we really get going and we should be proud of those victories. At the end of the day though, we are still in the top two and still on for automatic promotion which is fantastic and completely unexpected. In the Coppa Italia we were brilliant against Bologna, stubborn if you like and that was brilliant. To have got the result even though they were much better than us shows how resolute this team can be and I am thrilled to have qualified for the first round, where we’ll play Juventus. They are one of our biggest rivals and the game at the Juventus Stadium will be a great game and a real spectacle and I honestly cannot wait.

Your defensive record has been very impressive, and I'm certain it'll help you battle it out for the title as the season progresses! Big month next month against a number of very reputable teams, especially Juve!

Our defensive record has been very solid but the new signings have been a little less than impressive personally but if it aint broke dont fix it!

PAOLO VANOLI: “WE’LL GIVE JUVENTUS EVERYTHING WE’VE GOT!”

07 December 2017

Champions of Italy, Juventus, will host Paolo Vanoli’s Parma in the First Round of the Coppa Italia next week.
________________________________________
- Parma overcame Bologna on penalties in the final qualifying round
- Juventus competing for the first time in this seasons competition
- Paolo Vanoli believes his side can achieve an upset

Next week, on the 13th December, the Coppa Italia really kicks into action as the giants of the Italian game join the competition, with Juventus, Internazionale and AC Milan all joining the competition. For Italian Champions Juventus, who have won the last three TIM Cup titles, they will face a visit from rivals Parma, led by manager Paolo Vanoli. The tie has special significance as it marks the first time Parma have met the Champions since they were relegated to Serie D after extremely poor financial problems at the end of the 2014/2015 season. For Paolo Vanoli, the game presents an opportunity for Parma to knock the current holders out of the competition, especially after Parma eliminated Serie A side Bologna in the final qualifying round a few weeks ago. After finding out that his side were drawn against the current holders of the competition, Vanoli spoke briefly to the media about the tie.

Reporter: ”Paolo, the Coppa Italia has thrown you up a massive game against your rivals Juventus. How does this make you feel? Are you excited or worried about how your team will fare?”
Paolo Vanoli: ”Yeah I can’t wait. It’s going to be a really good game and a really interesting one. Obviously they are the Champions of Italy and the current holders of this competition but we’ve proved ourselves to be a good team and one that is capable of beating Serie A sides.”

Reporter: ”Massimiliano Allegri’s team is one full of world class talent like Paul Pogba, Sami Khedira and Paolo Dybala, and promising youngsters like Domenico Berardi. Do you think your side is capable of dealing with players of this talent?”
Vanoli: ”Yes, more than definitely. Against Bologna in the last round we were playing against players that are probably that little bit better than ours and the lads were terrific. They defender as a unit and then when it came to going forward they did really well and we were really quite eye catching to watch going forward. Against Juventus, we need to make sure that we play with that same kind of defensive stubbornness and if it all comes together we can give causing an upset a really good go.”

Reporter: ”This is the first game against a club of this stature since the club was relegated to Serie D, does it signal the start of a new era for Parma?”
Vanoli: ”Yes, I’d like to think so. We’ve been dying to play teams like this since I took over at the club and hopefully this will be the first of many. We’re doing really well in Serie B at the moment and if we can perhaps keep building on that, then we could well be playing teams of Juventus’ standard and reputation next year.”

The Parma manager would later go on to talk about his teams performances in Serie B this year, in which his side could push for promotion to Serie A. However Vanoli gave the sense that he was confident that his Parma side could surprise Juventus and eliminate the Italian Champions from the competition with the right kind of performance. When asked again if he thought this could happen, Vanoli just laughed and stated ”Yes, if everyone does our jobs!”

COPPA ITALIA FIRST ROUND PREVIEW: JUVENTUS VS. PARMA

Manager: Massimilliano Allegri
Captain: Gianluigi Buffon
Key Player: Paul Pogba
Injuries & Suspensions: Cristian Bunino Stephan Liechsteiner
Last Match: 2-1 Vs. Tottenham Hotspur
Form:

Fans Prediction: ”We’re in amazing forms and nine straight wins should put us in a very good position going into this game. You’d think that this should be an easy win for us and if we go out and play our best football and not allow Parma to play their pressing game then, we’ll take our place in the Quarter Finals without any problems.”

Parma
Based In: Parma
Position: 1st ( Serie B )
Manager: Paolo Vanoli
Captain: Raffaele Di Gennaro
Key Player: Niccolo Belloni
Injuries & Suspensions: Rodrigo Alborno Josh Brillante
Last Match: 2-1 Vs. Brescia Calcio
Form:

Fans Prediction: ”This is the biggest game for this club in the last few years. Three years ago when we were in Serie D, games like this were just a dream or consigned to pre season friendlies, but Paolo Vanoli has done wonders and taken us back into Serie B and into the First Round of the Coppa Italia and to the top of Serie B and now we’re playing Juventus. For us this could be a test of how well we’ll play against the giants of the country and if we can put in a performance then we can be reasonably confident going into a potential Serie A campaign next year. You can’t stop Juventus at the minute though and I do think they’ll win.”

Competing against Juventus is always a huge honour, and I'm certain your players will treat the game with respect, but won't hold back against what is arguably Italy's biggest club!

COPPA ITALIA FIRST ROUND REVIEW: JUVENTUS VS. PARMA

13 December 2017

________________________________________
- Serie A leaders ease into Quarter Finals of the Coppa Italia
- Domenico Berardi hat trick seals place in next round where Internazionale lay in wait
- Parma muster one shot compared to Juventus’ 26

Italian Champions Juventus moved easily into the Quarter Finals of the Coppa Italia with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Serie B side Parma at the Juventus Stadium. With both sides topping their respective leagues, it was billed as a game to watch, especially after Parma overcame Serie A side Bologna on penalties in the final qualifying round. However what could only have been described as a major upset was never likely as Juventus dominated from start to finish and the Old Lady, who have won the last three Coppa Italia titles, cruised through the game, only allowing their opponents to have one shot the entire game. For Parma fans though this game was seen as a test of how far their team had come since their relegation to Serie D at the end of the 2014/2015 season and under Paolo Vanoli, Parma fans can only surely be happy that they are finally playing Juventus again, rather than worrying too much about the manner of the defeat.

After a stubborn defensive performance had formed the basis on which Parma edged their way past Bologna in the final qualifying round, Paolo Vanoli set his team up to defend deep and hope to hit Parma on the counter. However their reluctance to press higher up the pitch and try and catch Juventus out, was Parma’s downfall and in the 37th minute, the Old Lady had their first real prolonged period of dominance as Paolo Dybala forced a good save out of Raffaele Di Gennaro and Martin Caseres earnt a series of corner for Juventus in which Raffaele Di Gennaro did well to handle and show how good a goalkeeper he could be for Paolo Vanoli’s side.

Juventus’ dominance and sheer ability finally shone through in the 39th minute though as Claudio Marchisio stopped a Parma breakaway, forcing the ball into the penalty area, and unfortunately for Parma, Simone Sini gave away a free kick before Carl Medjani fouled Paolo Dybala in the area, with the resulting spot kick powered into the back of the net to find Domenico Berardi.

Juventus’ dominance continued in the second half as Daniele Rugani launched a counter attack with the ball finding Claudio Marchisio. The veteran Italian midfielder found Martin Caseres out wide before the Uruguayan looked for Paolo Dybala who headed wide. The second goal was imminent though and in the 57th minute Yves Baraye had a rare effort for Parma, with his free kick being collected by Geronimo Rulli, who launched the ball up field to find Martin Caseres high in the Parma half, who crossed in to find Domenico Berardi waiting in the area, with the young Italian forward volleying home to make it 2-0. Parma, managed to stem the flow of the game in the final half hour, until in the 82nd minute Norbert Gyomber fouled Paolo Dybala in the area, with Domenico Berardi stepping up again to slot the spot kick home to make it 3-0 and complete his hat trick.

It was a dominant display from Juventus, however Parma fans can be happy that their side held relatively strong, despite the stats not supporting their happiness. For Paolo Vanoli it will no doubt fill him with confidence that perhaps, with a few new faces, Parma could cause a few upsets in Serie A if they achieved their aims for the current season.

League Table

Player of the Month

Federico Piovaccari

Despite the run of three games at the end of the month, Federico Piovaccari put in a string of very good performances scoring three goals before the team went on a three match goalless streak. His performances were very high and he has forced his way into the starting eleven and if he keeps playing as well as he can do then the goals will start flowing again for Parma.

Injuries

Giammario Piscitella. The winger who had started to force his way into the starting XI for Parma unfortunately damanged his foot in the defeat to Lecce, will miss the next four weeks of football through the injury.
Francesco Corapi. Perhaps Parma’s key player this season, Corapi’s injury, a back strain that leaves him out for another 4 weeks, has hindered Paolo Vanoli’s sides form with results slipping after his injury.

Next Month

Just the three fixtures for Parma in January after a short winter break. Games against Perugia and Empoli at the Ennio Tardini will no doubt be difficult, but are now games Parma must win and must score in, if they are to keep their promotion campaign alive and kicking. Paolo Vanoli takes his side to Latina in their final game of January where Parma will be hoping they have returned to good form.

Other News

02.12.2017: Piero Braglia was today sacked by US Lecce, who, as recently as 2012 were in Serie A, drew 1-1 with Latina Calcio to keep the club rooted to the bottom of the Serie B table.
02.12.2017: Pescara Calcio, who finished third in Serie B last season, also removed their manager, Giuseppe Iachini, from his job with the club sitting 11th in Serie B after their 3-1 defeat to Parma.
09.12.2017: The season of sackings continued as Hellas Verona sacked Nenad Bjelica, after a run of five games without a win following on from their 1-0 victory over Parma back in November.
23.12.2017: US Lecce ended their three week wait to appoint a new manager by pinching Giuseppe Zappella from Juventus’ under 20 team, with the hope that the former Old Lady employee could steer the club away from relegation.
28.12.2017: Andrea Camplone, was announced as the new manager of struggling Pescara. The club who sacked Giuseppe Iachini earlier in the month will be hoping that Camplone can steer the club away from the danger of relegation.

Manager’s Thoughts

A good start to the month but a very poor end. The victories against Bari, Pescara and Brescia showed how well we can play going forward, but once again a poor defensive record has really cost us this month and we’ve conceded too many goals. The game against Juventus has put us on a downward spiral by the looks of it and goalless games against Catania and Lecce, the latter of which we lost, perhaps shows the problems we’re having at the minute. January is next and that means the opening of the transfer window, and maybe we need to start to look for some players to help our defence as most of them are not having a good campaign this year.
