League Table
Player of the Month
Federico Piovaccari
Despite the run of three games at the end of the month, Federico Piovaccari put in a string of very good performances scoring three goals before the team went on a three match goalless streak. His performances were very high and he has forced his way into the starting eleven and if he keeps playing as well as he can do then the goals will start flowing again for Parma.
Injuries
Giammario Piscitella. The winger who had started to force his way into the starting XI for Parma unfortunately damanged his foot in the defeat to Lecce, will miss the next four weeks of football through the injury.
Francesco Corapi. Perhaps Parma’s key player this season, Corapi’s injury, a back strain that leaves him out for another 4 weeks, has hindered Paolo Vanoli’s sides form with results slipping after his injury.
Next Month
Just the three fixtures for Parma in January after a short winter break. Games against Perugia and Empoli at the Ennio Tardini will no doubt be difficult, but are now games Parma must win and must score in, if they are to keep their promotion campaign alive and kicking. Paolo Vanoli takes his side to Latina in their final game of January where Parma will be hoping they have returned to good form.
Other News
02.12.2017: Piero Braglia was today sacked by US Lecce, who, as recently as 2012 were in Serie A, drew 1-1 with Latina Calcio to keep the club rooted to the bottom of the Serie B table.
02.12.2017: Pescara Calcio, who finished third in Serie B last season, also removed their manager, Giuseppe Iachini, from his job with the club sitting 11th in Serie B after their 3-1 defeat to Parma.
09.12.2017: The season of sackings continued as Hellas Verona sacked Nenad Bjelica, after a run of five games without a win following on from their 1-0 victory over Parma back in November.
23.12.2017: US Lecce ended their three week wait to appoint a new manager by pinching Giuseppe Zappella from Juventus’ under 20 team, with the hope that the former Old Lady employee could steer the club away from relegation.
28.12.2017: Andrea Camplone, was announced as the new manager of struggling Pescara. The club who sacked Giuseppe Iachini earlier in the month will be hoping that Camplone can steer the club away from the danger of relegation.
Manager’s Thoughts
A good start to the month but a very poor end. The victories against Bari, Pescara and Brescia showed how well we can play going forward, but once again a poor defensive record has really cost us this month and we’ve conceded too many goals. The game against Juventus has put us on a downward spiral by the looks of it and goalless games against Catania and Lecce, the latter of which we lost, perhaps shows the problems we’re having at the minute. January is next and that means the opening of the transfer window, and maybe we need to start to look for some players to help our defence as most of them are not having a good campaign this year.
