2016-07-16 20:03#235421 L0rdArt : Nice! Now Bayern will be harder, but I think you can have a good result
Thankyou :) we are at home first so hopefully we can get off to a good start there, but we can't afford to concede many away goals.

To kick April off PSG lost on penalties to Lyon which is great news.

We beat Angers 2-0 away from home which is a good result considering we face Bayern next.

Champions League Semi Final Draw
Marseille will have to beat last seasons winner of this competition if they want to book their place in the Final.

Which means Manchester City will have to beat Juventus if they are going to get to the Final and win their first ever Champions League.

Paris Saint Germain have won the league title with 4 games after Marseille suffered their second loss in a row. Marseille fielded a weakened side which shows that he had already given up on trying to chase PSG before the match had started, we spoke to him after the match.

Reporter: "Mathias you surrendered your crown to PSG today, what is the feeling in the camp considering there are still four match days left?

Mathias Sommer: "Well of course we aren't pleased about it but PSG strengthened a lot in the summer and it was always going to be hard keeping up with them from the start. Also last season our focus was on domestic football and so there wasn't as much traveling and I could play my best team week in week out."

Reporter: "Some pundits are saying you were disrespectful to the fans today for not putting up a fight with a weakened team out, what is your opinion on this?"

Mathias Sommer: "I can see why they think that but PSG have been on top of the pile by about twelve points for a lot of the season so even if we won all of our games we still wouldn't have a chance, we are into the semi finals of the Champions League and Coupe de France so we can't keep up with PSG as well."

Reporter: "Thank you Mathias."

Mathias Sommer: "Thanks, cheers and see you soon."

We then spoke to Unai Emery the PSG manager

Reporter: “Hello Unai and congratulations, what were your feelings when you heard the news of Marseille losing in Nantes and that you had won the league?”

Unai Emery: “I was delighted of course and happy that we have got back the title for the fans and this great club, obviously we are disappointed that we couldn’t make it further in the Champions League but we can strengthen for next season and try our hardest to make that happen, but we can’t celebrate because we have Marseille in a semi final next which is also very important to us.”

Reporter: “Yes I was coming on to that you beat them in the Champions Trophy at the beginning of the season and at the Parc de Princes in the league, can you take anything from those results into this match?”

Unai Emery: “We will take the fact that we won them as a positive but this is completely different now it’s the semi final of a cup and so teams sometimes play differently in these types of game.”

Reporter: “Thanks Unai that’s all, well done! Again and good luck in the next match.”

Unai Emery: “Thankyou.”

Paris Saint Germain beat Marseille to progress into the French Cup Final just days after beating these as their nearest rivals for the league.
Champions League Semi Final First Leg

Manchester City 1-0 Juventus (Aguero, 43')

Marseille 0-1 Barcelona (Messi,1'- Mathias Sommer: "We still have a chance it will be tough to get a win at Camp Nou but we will try our best as we always do."

Champions League Semi Final Second Leg

Juventus 2-1 Manchester City (Mandzukic, 22', Dybala,58', Sterling,87') - Manchester City go through to the final on away goals (2-2a)

Barcelona 0-0 Marseille- Barcelona's first leg victory sends them into the final against Man City, Luis Enrique's first return to his former club.

Mathias Sommer: "We are distraught we had some good chances in that match to get level, but it wasn't meant to be and we have to finish the season strongly."

BREAKING NEWS! BBC Sport

Mathias Sommer to Liverpool

By Phil McNulty
Chief football writer

There are reports in France that Mathias Sommer has left Marseille and is headed to Liverpool for talks with the board about becoming their new manager. Gerardo Martino left his position as Liverpool manager a week ago after a disappointing season which saw them finish 14th in the Premier League. There are Marseille fans on the edge of their seats hoping for these rumours to go away but they won’t know for a while yet until the club gives them more information.
Eddie Howe of Bournemouth and Sinisa Mihajlovic of Torino have also been linked to the vacant managerial position but Sommer is odds on to be the next manager considering his achievements just two years into the job at Marseille. A league title and Champions League semi final may sway the decision of the Liverpool board, but can they offer Sommer enough without European football next season?

Mathias Sommer’s Career
• Born in Vienna
• Played for his childhood team Austria Wien
• Managed the U21’s finishing 6th in his first season
• Offered the Marseille job
• In his first season he finished 1st in Ligue 1 and won the Coupe de la Ligue
• In his second season Marseille finished 2nd in Ligue 1, got to the Coupe de la Ligue Quarter final, French cup semi final and got to the semi final of the Champions League losing to Barcelona.

Would he be the right choice?
Mathias Sommer handles the media pressure well which is needed in England and he has his way of playing, nobody will stop him doing what he thinks is best.
So Liverpool fans I would say he would be an excellent appointment, if these reports are true you should be delighted with the prospect.
Breaking News

Mathias Sommer has been confirmed as the new manager of Liverpool F.C. Here is his first Press Conference after he signed up.

Mathias Sommer: "I am absolutely delighted to be able to say I'm the Liverpool manager, it is a team with such history and the best fans around. As soon as the opportunity arose I had to take the job because the Premier League is the best league in the world and Liverpool are one of the best clubs in the world, it was just too good to turn down. I know the club has struggled recently finishing 14th last season wasn't good enough but I arrived at Marseille who were in a similar situation with no European football, I hope I'm the man who can take Liverpool back to were they belong. Lastly I just wanted to thank Marseille I had a fantastic two years there and I have learn't so much, hopefully they respect my decision and I will still check their results and I wish them all the best in the future and whichever manager comes in is joining a very special club. Thank you."
