Marseille VS Nice Coupe de la Ligue
Marseille are three times champions of this competition they came in successive seasons 2009/10, 2010/11 and 2011/12 they take on Nice who have never won it. That doesn't matter today though, who will be the ones with the bragging writes?

Nice have Hassen in goal the 21 year old has signed a pre-contract with Marseille but he will want to impress Sommer especially with Costil 4th in the league for clean sheets.

This match was so one sided from the kick off in the 5th minute Baysse gave away a penalty and ex FC Red Bull Salzburg striker Jonathan Soriano stepped up and fired it passed Hassen and then got his second just 4 minutes later with a close range header. Nice started to come into the game more in the second half looking the more likely of the two to score but Soriano got his hat-trick in the 83 minute with a lovely finish one on one with the keeper to rap up the match and lift the trophy for Marseille.

Mathias Sommer: "Yes nobody wants to face PSG they are a brilliant side and like you said they have a chance to win the league but they are in the French cup final as well, there is still everything to play for."

Thank you, I chose Marseille because I hated to watching them struggle last season especially the Marseille 2-5 Rennes and all the sales this summer.
The ex Hannover right back Hiroki Sakai has been excellent this season and so Marseille have repayed him with a new 4 year deal and £40,000 a week.

Marseille suffer shock 4-3 loss against Lorient which leaves them just 1 point above Paris Saint Germain with two games remaining against Nice and Dijon.

This defeat comes after Marseille stopped their 4 match run without winning by beating Nice in the Coupe de la Ligue final but their league form hasn't improved with no wins from their last 5 matches just 3 points from a possible 15. The league was pretty much wrapped up when they went on their 20 game unbeaten run before this slump and now PSG have the chance to win their 5th consecutive title.

There are already three teams relegated and so everyone is looking at the title race which involves Marseille and PSG. PSG have the harder test they play against Lille who find themselves in a disappointing 13th place so will want to give their fans something to cheer about. Lille are the only team to have beaten Marseille at the Stade Velodrome this season one of 5 defeats for them. Marseille have one of last seasons promoted sides to go straight back down Dijon who have found the transition hard and will be working to return from Ligue 2 next season.
