Patrick Viera has got a medical at Eastlands today, and will sign an 18-month contract. I wonder what Arsenal fans will be thinking.
Veloso is a defensive midfielder mate, modric-lennon-bentley are xtremes for the rest the rest are more forward players than defenders!
But I don't like tottenham to have this kind of player, as for Nani he is not a star definitely and of course neither Valencia!
I'd prefer more english players in your teams guys this thing with work permit shit has every foreign star to play in the island!
We are not talking about english football anymore!
And I think the beginner of this parody is Wenger who sucks!
And the next "Wenger" is the goddamn Arab who took City!
Why someone who knows about football will spend about 150m to get a bunch of "stars"
and his team is in 7th position! And how can someone with brains get a player who is 33 yrs old who is "dead meat" to compete with the most hard teams in the planet (Vieira)

I did imply Veloso a DM, I said "Veloso would make a good signing as he's got the defensive skills aswell"

You say "we are not talking about english football anymore". If you look at the current "big four" with the exception of Arsenal they rely on English players. Man Utd have Rio at the back (who is out of form I know but is key to the United defence) in the middle you have a selection of british midfielders: carrick, scholes, giggs, fletcher, hargreaves (when he's back). At the key player in our striker Wayne Rooney who is easily England's best striker. In Chelsea you have got JT at the back who is the heart of the defence. Ashley Cole who is on good form at the moment and Lampard who is the playmaker of the team and dictates their play. Liverpool rely heavily on Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher & Glen Johnson who are part of the top players at the club. Arsenal are an exception becaue Wenger has an obsession with foreign players. Also there are loads of teams will dominant english players. Look at West Ham & Aston Villa.
Also gets your facts right you say "Why someone who knows about football will spend about 150m to get a bunch of "stars"
and his team is in 7th position!" Man City are 5th with a game in hand so potentially 4th. I hate city but there doing well considering a bunch of players have just been thrown together.

You criticise Valencia. Now being a Man Utd fan I disagree with you. He's just joined the club and is doing a lot better recently. The pace he's got but I think he got room to improve on crossing. He takes the ball past player brilliantly and he's the player for Man Utd who has the most first team appearances which shows Sir Alex, the best manager in history, has faith in him. He's scored some key goals as well. Look at the game against Wigan just gone. He was amazing then, got a goal and was involved in all the play for the others.

You say Vieira is "dead meat". Yes, he might be old but sometimes experience cancels out age. Look at Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes. There are games when these two players play in and have such a big impact. Classic Example: Man Utd vs Barcelona Semi-Final Champions Legue 2008. Scholesy comes up with a piece of 30-yard magic and took us to that final. No other player could have taken us through that you need these type of players, that is why Arsenal have struggled in recent seasons. Vieira will bring that experience to City. He's played in the Premier League before and knows how things run. It's a good signing.
I agree with a lot of what FM_MUFC says. Valencia is definitely getting better with his recent performances but you can tell that he sometimes feels quite awkward where he settles in Man U's midfield. I'm not even a Utd fan and I can tell that.

Vieira is definitely not "dead meat". He lacks the pace now, true but City lack the defensive composure in midfield that Vieira will provide. Mancini will probably pay him in a withdrawn role to just close the defensive gaps in the midfield. He doesn't need to participate in offense, he just needs to play the ball to their attackers and he's done his job. You don't need much pace in defense so he'll accomplish what he's expected to do.

As for the game not being too "English", I disagree on a small point. A lot of the foreign players being brought into the prem where brought in young. This means that their game developed to adapt to the english way of playing football, the physical presence and tactical play. Arsenal proves that. They do lack the physicality but they have that tactical cohesion and teamwork that characterizes the EPL.
joannes3000 : Torres and Gerrard possibly available?

Gerrard - never. He'd take a pay cut if he had to. After the 2004/5 season and he decided not to go to Chelsea, hes pretty much commited his career to the club.

Torress - doubt it. If Liverpool keep struggling financially maybe, but not yet. The reason he signed a new contract till 2012 is because he wants to win the Prem with Liverpool. After last season he must have felt is was possible. I think once hes achieved that he'll leave, and bring us a LOT of money. I personally dont see him leaving for a few years yet, maybe to Barca or something in 2 or 3 years.

On more Liverpool news - REJOICE!!! Voronin has gone!!! :clap :beer :clap
wasn't gerrard the one who handed in a transfer request? :yes
Stoke have made a enquiry for Ruud van Nistlerooy. What a signings that would be for Tony Pulis! Dossena's off to Napoli & apparently City are after Kaboul&Ansaldi mind you who aren't Man City after
tottenham interested in ruud van nistelrooy

big risk but could pay off
To be honest I'd take Ruud back right now. United need a goal-hanger machine to fill the gap of ronny. And although he getting on in age, would be a great signings for tottenham, although he may struggle for a first team place with Defoe, Keane and Crouch
ye i would if i was a man u fan aswell

berbatovs operation and owen just being owen isnt good and him and rooney could be a deadly partnership
Yeah, Berba wants to postpone his operation to the end of the season, Owen's can produce some quality at times (Man City4-3 & hattrick against Wolfsburg). We've got some good strikers coming through Macheda, Welbeck, Diouf. Another Striker would be nice, for example in 1999 our key to success was our 4 strikers (Cole, Yorke, Sheringham, Solskjaer). I don't know how much money is available for transfers but one more would complete the 4strikers. I tell you what I'd take Jermaine Beckford. 20 goals in 28 games, but I've heard he's withdrawn his transfer request.
To ne honest, I think Fergie needs to sign someone who going to have impact on the team, I dont know who, but someone.
The more talk there is of Kenwyn Jones moving to Liverpool the happier I become and the dislike I feel towards Rafa subsides slightly...
English footballers would never get their teams to the CL finals mate without foreign players!
You have to admit that, the island is full of foreign players!!!
We see what your national team is about!!!
i wish real would back off from rooney! also im liking the sound of moussa sissoko coming to old trafford!
and canales to the prem, even though that is city!
