Absolutely gutting, shame it all fell apart in the first leg however Russia and Spartak are a difficult place to go in fairness. Hopefully you can bounce back and continue your good start to the season.
2017-06-10 13:56#243507 MJK46 : Tough way to go out but a victory in the second leg is a nice little boost. Hopefully next year you can advance farther or get deep in Champions League.

Yeah was tough to take but the win gives us some co efficient points that could help massively next year!

2017-06-11 11:23#243540 Justice : Very unlucky to bow out following a victory, but the win at home will certainly boost some confidence, following that first leg. Perhaps a European exit will give your side a boost to compete domestically, and the extra rest time may prove invaluable!

Yeah was a shame, thought we could squeeze through before the first leg but a win in the second leg is a morale booster! Youre right though it does mean we have more time between matches and a chance to recover more!

Gutting is exactly the word id use! Disappointed but we can still have a great season if we go on to lift the Eredivisie or the Johann Cruijff Schaal!

As the countdown to the end of the season began, Feyenoord maintained their presence at the top of the Eredivisie with a 1-0 win over FC Groningen thanks to Bilal Basacikoglu’s strike just before half time. Then in a huge game at De Kuip against title rivals Ajax, Feyenoord producing a scintillating first half performance to beat Peter Bosz’s side by a 4-1 scoreline to move four points clear at the top. The ecstasy of the 4-1 win over Ajax was soon followed by the lowest of lows though as Spartak Moscow thumped Feyenoord 4-0 in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 32. The defeat didn’t affect Feyenoord’s league form though as Willem II were the next side to pushed to one side in a 2-0 win before Feyenoord at least earnt some respect from their Russian counterparts as they beat Spartak 1-0 in the Second Leg meaning they crashed out of the competition 4-1 on aggregate. League and European form though appeared to be completely separate as Feyenoord ended the month with a thumping 6-1 win over Roda Kerkrade thanks to 4 goals from Eljero Elia, one from Bilal Basacikoglu and an unfortunate own goal.

It's very much a two horse race between yourself and Ajax at the moment. The result against Roda to conclude the month will certainly boost the players confidence going into the penultimate few months, you deserve to go and win it now so don't let it slip!
Two big big big big big games next month, the cup game and then the league fixture against PSV. Win those two, and you'll be setting yourself up very nicely for a strong end to the season!
Thanks for this swell of support guys, glad this stories doing as well as it is!

That 6-1 win was really pleasing, was great to see us amongst the goals, an area perhaps we have lacked a little in this season!

Thanks for the feedback man, glad you're enjoying it as much as you are! Thanks man, hopefully in 9 games time we'll have a trophy to show for our efforts!

Thanks man, takes a lot of work so glad they come out as well as they do! Hopefully, we're getting a lot closer to that first title for such a long time!

Yeah you're right, and it's a shame that Utrecht dropped out of it, and they collapsed within a few games of the return from the mid-season break unfortunately! Definitely, momentum and morale is at a very high level at the minute and the title should be in our hands soon!

Big big big big big big games! Would love the chance at a double, but even just the league title would be fantastic!

ADO den Haag Seal KNVB Beker Final Place

ADO den Haag secured their place in the KNVB Beker Final against Ajax after beating the current holders of the competition Feyenoord 3-2 in a thrilling match at the Kyocera Stadion. The game started at a nervy tense tempo that made it seem that the game was going to go the distance, but once the opening goal of the game had gone in just before half time it opened up and ADO den Haag and Feyenoord served up a spectacle for the two sides as their hopes of picking up silverware and reaching the Final rested on this game.

It wasn’t until Rick Karsdorp had brought down Mike Havenaar in the Feyenoord area that the game did open up though with Aaron Meijers stepping up to open the scoring just three minutes before the break from the penalty spot. It was a goal that spurred the hosts on to go and push for a second and just three minutes later they had found it when Mike Havenaar was found in acres of space in the penalty area before calmly slotting past Brad Jones in the Feyenoord goal. When Aaron Meijers was sent off after the break it seemed that Feyenoord had their lifeline and a way back into the tie and when Nicolai Jorgensen pulled a goal back in the 66th minute with a trademark bullet header, the Feyenoord fans started to make a lot of noise as it dawned on them that they had 24 minutes to scream their team back onto level terms. However as the visitors pushed for an equaliser, Mike Havenaar hit Feyenoord on the break and seemingly sealed a place in the Final for den Haag. Lucas Woudenberg’s 90th minute beauty was only a consolation as Feyenoord were unable to rouse themselves into scoring a miraculous third and it will be ADO den Haag that meet Ajax in the Final at De Kuip on the 30th April.

Speaking to Feyenoord.com after the game Giovanni van Bronckhorst said he was disappointed that his side had been unable to bring themselves level having pulled a goal back, both at 2-0 down and 3-1 down. ”We gave ourselves several opportunities to get back into the tie and really push to bring ourselves back in the tie. Unfortunately we left ourselves vulnerable after making it 2-1 and they hit us on the break but when Lucas scored with only a few minutes left we had them rattled and really should have pulled it back. Unfortunately though we didn’t and I do have to congratulate ADO den Haag on making the final and it should be a very interesting game when they meet Ajax at the end of April.”

must be gutting to miss out on a final :( hopefully you can bounce back from this
Ouch, that's unfortunate! Oh well, you can be proud with a run to the semi final regardless! Now to turn your full attention on the league, and bring the title home!

Was gutting to watch especially at 3-1 down! Hopefully mate, the league title is still on the cards and still very much in our hands!

Yeah is just a shame we weren't able to go all the way to the final! We're very close now, the Eredivisie will be ours if we just stay focused!

Kenneth Vermeer Excited To Make Long Awaited Return

Long term injury victim Kenneth Vermeer is in line to make his first team return at the weekend in a huge game against reigning Champions of Holland, PSV Eindhoven. Having ruptured his achilles tendon during Feyenoord’s pre-season campaign, former Ajax goalkeeper Vermeer has missed the entire season to date, although did return to training at the beginning of the month. With Vermeer’s deputy Brad Jones having kept 15 clean sheets in the Eredivisie campaign this year, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been wary of dropping the Australian in place of the now fit Vermeer but van Bronckhorst believes the time is right to give Vermeer a return to action.

Having joined Feyenoord at the beginning of the 2014/2015 season from Ajax, Vermeer went on to make 64 appearances for the club in his first two seasons at the club. However the injury hampered his pre-season and meant that he has missed the season so far but van Bronckhorst has praised Vermeer’s attitude since his injury. ”Kenneth’s attitude has been top drawer since he was injured and he has been solely focused on making sure that he can return as a bigger and better player for this team. He is a top quality goalkeeper and amongst the best in this league so to have him back is brilliant.”

”His attitude since he came back has been great too. I told Kenneth that the decision had been made to stick with Brad Jones for a short while because of how well he has done in deputising for Kenneth and he was perfectly on board,” added van Bronckhorst. ”Brad has kept a lot of clean sheets for us this year and deserves all the recognition he is getting but I think the PSV game is going to be the right game for Kenneth to come in and start to make his stamp on claiming that number 1 spot as his own again.”

The goalkeeper himself praised his deputy Brad Jones and said that he was going to have to play very well to keep the Australian out of the starting XI come the rest of the season. ”Brad has done really well and is a great guy to have around the club. He has kept 15 clean sheets in the league so far this year and that is a great return and it has helped us to the position we are in. I am thrilled to be getting the chance against PSV but I know I am going to have work extremely hard and play very well to ensure that I keep getting those chances come the rest of the season.”

Will he flourish on his return, or will Super Brad prove to be the undisputed No.1?
