Congrats on a great group stage
Well done mate, glad to see you progress. What are your plans for the last two games, give some other members of the squad a chance?
2017-05-25 22:34#243008 Justice : Brilliantly done! You've all but cemented top spot in the group, but most importantly you've qualified for the next round! Now you can forget about the competition until February, as you can just throw out a second string team in your two remaining fixtures, and put the focus on domestic football for the next few months!

Top spot is almost secure and hopefully against Shakhtar we will go on to do that! Whilst you're right we need to be sensible and try and boost our co efficient so that upon a potential return to the Champions League we can get a kinder draw!

Thanks man, onwards and upwards!

Thanks man! Ideally id like to rest players for the Eredivisie campaign but with a potential champions league return id like to boost our uefa ranking to try and get a better draw if we have to go through the qualifying rounds!

Feyenoord Tie Sven van Beek Down To Five Year Deal

Feyenoord have today confirmed that central defender Sven van Beek has signed a new five year contract at De Kuip, keeping him at the current Eredivisie leaders until June 2021. With rumoured interest from both AC and Inter Milan amongst some of Europe’s other leading clubs, the move to offer van Beek a new deal is believed to have warned off interest, whilst also dramatically increasing the fee that Feyenoord will be able to demand from any potential suitors. The deal is also believed to include a £24.5 million release clause giving van Beek a way out of De Kuip should he show a desire to leave the Eredivisie.

Negotiations are believed to have been handled by manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Director of Football Martin van Geel. van Geel said to Eurosport that Feyenoord were delighted ”This is the club that is well known for producing bright young talents and Sven van Beek is one of the finest players we’ve produced in his position for a little while. He is a very good defender and for him to have committed his future to us for the next five years is a big bonus for this club. It will give us a chance to stop worrying about the stories that float around and really focus on helping Sven develop into the quality of player that we believe he can be.”

The defender also revealed to Feyenoord’s club website that ”I am delighted to have signed a new deal here. It gives both me and the team the chance to focus on the football rather than worrying about anything outside of playing and training. We’ve got a great crop of players here at the minute and we’ve got a real chance to push on and go on to win games of football and silverware this year.”

That's a big move to pen him down for the foreseeable future! A very capable, and young, defender who will certainly be a linchpin in any success you have in the next few seasons!

The big clubs have already been sniffing around and getting him to sign a new contract should at least buy us another season of his services that will hopefully see him play for us in the Champions League! And if we can't keep him we should hopefully get a large fee or his release clause met so we'll have the funds to bring someone in of a similar quality hopefully.

Feyenoord Seal Top Spot Despite Late Eduardo Goal

Feyenoord secured top spot in Group G despite Eduardo da Silva’s late header earning Shakhtar Donetsk a point at De Kuip. Feyenoord had been the better side and probably deserved to take all three points but Paulo Fonseca’s side continued to search for an equaliser and were rewarded for their determination when Eduardo headed home late on. It was a point that meant Feyenoord can no longer be caught at the top of Group G, and that Shakhtar are now only a point above third placed Astra Giurgiu as the race to see who joins Feyenoord in the First Knockout Round will be decided on Matchday 6 after Astra beat BATE Barysaw 2-0.

In a rather slow first half, neither side looked too convincing and likely to open the scoring, but the second half proved to be a much more open affair. In the 57th minute Marko Vejinovic stepped up to curl a beautifully flighted free kick past Andriy Pyatov to put Feyenoord 1-0 ahead and on course for their fifth win in their five games. However Shakhtar refused to give up and in the first minute of stoppage time at the end of the game, Eduardo da Silva proved to be the hero for his side as he sent a bullet header past Brad Jones after a brilliant delivery from Brazilian midfielder Alan Patrick.

Speaking to the press after the game, Feyenoord Head Coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst was quizzed on whether he felt happy with his side’s performance or whether there was a sense of disappointment and not being able to secure another victory. ”For me, I am disappointed somewhat. I felt like we were the better side on the night and at 1-0 I thought we were likely to go on and score another goal that would have made it a bit more comfortable. For them to come back into the game so late on is disappointing although we have to take the positives from the game and be proud of our achievements in topping this group and giving ourselves a fighting chance when the draw is made for the next round.”

It was always going to be a tough game to play - against a Shakhtar side hungry to secure qualification, while your players may have perhaps took the foot off the pedal having already secured passage to the next round. That being said, you've secured top spot and remain unbeaten in the competition, so much to be happy with!
A good result all in all, ensuring a top spot finish. Also tying down Van Beek is a huge plus for the club, could go down a legend at the club with the potential he has.

Yeah they have a lot of players with a lot of creativity and flair and it was always going to be difficult but taking a point is still a good return considering they were supposed to be the highest ranked side in our group. We are through though and like you said still unbeaten so we move forward with a lot of positives behind us!

Should ensure that easier draw in the next round but some of the teams coming down from the Champions League could be very tricky!

Yeah he is a great defender and tying him down will be crucial for us moving forward!

With the Eredivisie campaign starting to heat up, and the Europa League Group Stages beginning to come to a close, Feyenoord began November with a comeback win against Astra Giurgiu, beating the Romanian’s 2-1. It was a win that secured van Bronckhorst’s sides place in the Round of 32 of the competition. Following on from that win, Feyenoord were under pressure for a large percentage of the 90 minutes in Alkmaar but scraped 1-0 win thanks to Tonny Vilhena’s counter attacking goal, before Feyenoord followed up that win with a comfortable 3-0 win over local rivals Excelsior. A return to De Kuip followed as Shakhtar visited, and left with a 1-1 draw thanks to a last minute equaliser before the following weekend, Feyenoord had to come from 2 goals down to draw 2-2 with PEC Zwolle. Despite the setback in the previous game, Feyenoord rallied in their game in hand against Willem II to end the month with a crushing 4-1 win that moved the side 4 points clear at the top of the Eredivisie table.

Great month. Hopefully you can stay in first the remainder of the season.
A very solid month there and most importantly you have a provided a slight cushion for yourselves at the top, albeit only four points. Next month will certainly be very interesting as you should be looking for close to maximum points at the least really, let's hope you can pull it off. :)

A very good month indeed and we're really starting to come together now!

Yeah we're just starting to establish ourselves at the top which is great! It is only 4 points but everyone seems to be taking points off of everybody else which can only be a good thing!

Next month will be great if we can keep this upward curve going, i just hope the winter break doesn't come too soon for us!
Top of the league by a very strong margin! If you can manage to expand this gap by a few points by the turn of the year, the title will certainly be yours to lose!
