jeraldo73 :
badboy23 : just a guess...try disabling firewall, seems to me like your OS is blocking the app for some reason, maybe something to do with baners... again,it's just a guess...latest version works perfectly on my XP SP3

is that XP Home with SP3 or XP Pro with SP3?
it's XP Pro SP3 ... .net framework is 3.5 SP1 ...windows firewall disabled
i cant really think off any reason why it isn't working for you guys ...it must be some OS issue ...i have had the same problems as all of you with v.1.1 ...this latest version works perfectly for me :dontgetit
Mine is windows 7 ultimate x64.

i have this error :

It's not working for me either. I double click the icon and then nothing happens. I am running XP Pro SP 3....any suggestions?

CONFUSED BUT HAPPY:

I initially downloaded 1.1 and it worked on my laptop - so i made a donation to Eugene for the no ads version. :)

It was only then that i discovered 1.1 would not run on my desktop... :O_o

Then 1.11 came out and this did not work on my desktop either...:weep

Today i received the download link from Eugene for the no ads version - the no ads version loads fine and everything works!!! :D

Not sure what the problem has been or how it has been fixed but Genie Scout is back and the world seems a brighter place already.

Cheers Eugene!

jeraldo mate, when you say it didn't work do you mean it would crash on start or it wouldn't load your save game? I'm guessing the first case scenario...
ozzycohen : Mine is windows 7 ultimate x64.

i have this error :

I have the same fail as he has.
I have a Win 7 32bit. I try to run the program in compatibility mode with XP SP3 and Vista SP2 with out any luck. I have try to turn off AF and AV, No go.

Are there any out there there know how to fix this problem?

Thomas
I've downloaded the new version of Genie Scout and it works perfectly with all but one of my save games. I get this error every time I try to open it:

Error Loading Entity Number: 41125
File Position: 18240689
Database Version: 1404
Person Data Seems To Be Corrupt.
Unknown Person Type: 225

Any help would be awesome :)

bl007 : Ditto, doesn't run.
Using XP Pro SP3.
Guess just a few more days and Eugene should have it solved :D

your very positive.. i think he doesn't gave a dam about this...:@
only if he is in a good mood.. then maybe.. he will fix it :weep

just for the protocol i am using XP SP3 and GE is not welling to run..
let's hope for the best :|

Hmmm I use the free version of FM Scout ... meaning Eugene works for free on the FMScout I download ... I dont have a choice but be optimistic D-U-D-E :D
It seems to me that the OS might be blocking genie because of the adverts on the free version.

Any drastic changes to the ads since the last version?

Any chance a few people who are experiencing problems could have access to the no ads version, that would at least clear up if thats the issue and give Eugene something to look at...

Neither really Stam - it didn't crash because it didn't load! Simply nothing happened when double clicking or using run menu command on my desk top.

All previous version of Genie had worked fine (and still do) on the same desktop - either with or without ads.

1.1 and 1.11 worked fine on my lap-top (which is, ahem, a work machine and has windows firewall disabled as default setting) but neither worked on my desk top at home until i got the no ads version direct from Eugene. All my save games load no probs.

Thinking now, when Genie was working on the laptop - the ads seemed broken - sometimes the ad window would be empty and show no ad.

Think BBmac might have something - perhaps it is something to do with the ads and the XP firewall? I tried all the windows and java updates i could get hold of and that had no effect.

Well, im willin' to try it out to donate a few euro's, only asked my Unique ID, so i can get the no ad genie. Where do i find my Unique ID?

EDIT: You can find your Unique ID in the "Donate" menu option in the FM Genie Scout 10.
I can't open my Genie Scout..
I don't understand. Did you find error, why will not load genie scout?
I have problem to load exe file.
Tosti, did it still not work with the no-ads version?
We have 2 computers here and both of them are running win7 64bit.

On my own computer i cant run Genie scout but on the other computer it works fin.
I have now try to run my own computer in Msconfig mode (turn off all non microsoft services) , Compatibility mode with vista SP2 and XP SP3 with out any luck.

Im out of ideas now, the only thing i have´t try yet are the one with out ads.
super_spurs_pete : Tosti, did it still not work with the no-ads version?

Im waitin' till someone tells me where i can find my Unique ID :P If i dont have that, i dont get the no ad genie...
