Season 2021: May
An Overview Of Peimari United In May 2021
"After an incredibly bright start to the season, we were looking to cement our place among the front runners of the league title. May also brought with it the culmination of the Suomen Cup and we were desperate to get our hands on that particular trophy, with a pathway to UEFA Europa League qualifying football a prize for winning it."
Peimari United Signed Promising Brazilian Youngster Cleiton Vieira
There was just one signing in May as Brazilian teenager Cleiton Vieira was signed on a free transfer, on his eighteenth birthday. Vieira played 25 times in all competitions for Luverdense EC last year, scoring once. He left the club in search of a pathway to European football, and found that at Peimari United. Young, quick and a good finisher, Vieira was highly rated. He went straight into the club's youth side, with a view to loaning him out when a suitable offer comes in.
Peimari United Lifted The Suomen Cup Title In A Strong Month In May
Our first league game of the month was a rather disappointing affair away to SJK. Santanen scored a penalty with less than ten minutes on the clock to give us what looked to be a decisive win. However, Maximio Tolonen found the back of the net two minutes later to earn SJK a share of the spoils. We followed this up with another draw, albeit a more exciting one. In a game full of twists and turns, we drew 4-4 away to HIFK, with them scoring the last goal within the final fifteen minutes.
Our form dipped further with a defeat away to VPS. We went ahead twice, but they equalised after both goals. VPS then scored a late winner to break our hearts and see us leave Vaasa without a single point. We recovered to finish the month strong with a 4-1 win over FC Inter Turku. We scored twice in stoppage time to make the game look like an even more emphatic win than the performances suggested.
RoPS were first up as we played out a tense quarter final. The game went to extra time with the scores level, and we ran riot as our fitness proved to be much better than theirs. We marched through the semi final with a comfortable win over Kakkonen side JäPS. SJK awaited us in the final. After seventy minutes of a very even display, we capitalised on their lesser fitness levels and scored three times to emphatically win the Suomen Cup, earning UEFA Europa League qualifiers football in 2022 in the process.
Player of the Month
Jarno Seppälä Was Peimari United's Star Player During May 2021
Jarno Seppälä was our hero in May. It was a very mixed month of results and performances and I wouldn't have ordinarily picked Seppälä for his performances, but he handled a tough month well and performed well in the cup final too. He scored twice in our 4-4 draw with HIFK, his highlight of the month.

Peimari United Remained On Top Of The League Despite Slump In Form
Despite a very disgusting run of form in the league, we were still top of the league. We led the way on goal difference and had a game in hand to boast. We knew that the competitiveness of the league could benefit us, if we put down a good run of form. However, we needed to start consistently winning games again.
Peimari United Were To Play Just Four Games In June
We had a bit of a break before our next Veikkausliiga fixture, due to an international break. This would allow our players to rest, recover and refocus ahead of a tough remainder to the season. FC Lahti, KuPS and RoPS were all expected to be tough opposition, but it was the away trip to HJK which stood out. They were the giants and they were the team we wanted to beat. After humiliating them in the first Veikkausliiga game of the season, they were sure to want revenge. We wanted to make a statement. It was set to be another thriller.
, we'll have plenty of time to celebrate the cup win once the season is over! We've still got plenty to play for in the league and it would be a mistake to take our foot off the pedal now, even for a split-second.
, Europa League qualification is massive for the football club. It signals the progress made since Kalle's early days, and will surely see a heap of cash reeled in.
, good to see you all caught up
, Ions & Tolonen have proven to be two of the most lethal attackers in the Veikkausliiga in recent seasons. The pair of them have been a thorn in our side for some time. I'm sure Kalle would like to sign them at some stage, though
