Unfortunately for us the birth came slightly early, so no holiday this year. But we can now welcome a new member to the family and our full focus for now is making sure she has everything she needs.

To my wife, Helena -

Thank you for giving birth to an amazing princess. She brings out the best in me and she is so beautiful. She means the world to me and I truly love her and will take care of our daughter!

2 years has flown by for the Schmid family. Marcel is now a known prodigy in the world of football management, people recognise him in the street and supermarket and now he is a father! Helena has reconnected with old friends and is back into her journalism work, which now takes her all over the world. She is once again taking time off to look after her daughter, but they both wanted to do different things in life. They enjoy the challenge of trying out new things, not knowing what the future might hold.



They have a house in the centre of Salzburg, with a wonderful view of the Hohensalzburg fortress. Life is good!



As another football season draws closer all eyes are on the transfer window and what managerial changes teams may do to give them a better shot at achieving their aims

Could this be hinting at Marcel's future lying elsewhere?

Red Bull Salzburg are all set for their new season with Marcel Schmid. 3 friendlies played to date against Austrian sides.


Schmid is able to look at returning loan players and see if they fit into the team this time round, and the window is now open and there will be players lined up to come into this squad.

After the morning training session in preparation for Eintracht Frankfurt match on Wednesday, Marcel heads to the office to have a chat with the board members about how things are going in training and any potential transfers in or out.

Rene Holzinger (RBS General Manager) – Hello Marcel. We have had a call today from Dmitry Rybolovlev, AS Monaco Chairman. They have offered you the job as head coach. The club is willing to let you talk with AS Monaco as you committed yourself to us after the first impressive season and we have seen no sign of you losing focus when the media attention has been on you about your future.

This is what I wanted! Something different. A new challenge to tackle.

Marcel Schmid – I gratefully accept your decision. To have the opportunity to test myself at the highest level in one of the top leagues has always been an ambition of mine. I didn’t expect to get an opportunity like this so early in my managerial career, but I think it is the right thing to do to accept the proposal.

Rene Holzinger – Well we are very happy for you; this won’t be the last time we see each other but I would just like to give my thanks to you for the past 2 years. You are an exceptional manager and man and I wish you all the best for the future. This club will remember what you have done for it.

We will let Monaco know your decision and your flights from Munich will be ready whenever you are!

Marcel - Thank you for inviting me here! I am really happy to be signing for this club that is known worldwide for giving youth a chance and then making them into top class players.

Dmitry – That is why you are the perfect fit for this club, you have come from a club that also brings players through and develops them and I was looking for a young exciting manager to carry it on here.

We can get on with the contract details now if you would like and then you can go back to Salzburg tonight, before the announcement tomorrow.

Marcel – That sounds like a good idea.

Dmitry – The contract is €50,000 a week until the summer of 2023. Is there anything you would like to change here?

Marcel – I am happy with the contract, but I would require bringing some staff members with me for me to make this move.

Dmitry – I agree that you should have your own men with you. The paperwork will be ready for everyone to sign tomorrow, so for now that’s everything.

Marcel – Thank you and see you tomorrow.

A team that started brightly with loads of spending under the Russian and while haven't achieved too much because of PSG, still maintain high standards. Excited for where you can take them!

AS Monaco have called a press conference for 13:00.
Reports suggest it will be an announcement of their new manager for the upcoming 2021/22 season.

Dmitry Rybolovlev – Good afternoon everyone! We are pleased to be able to announce today the new man to take us forward in this project. Please welcome Mr Marcel Schmid!

Marcel Schmid – Hello everybody! I can't really express in words how happy I am to be here today. It certainly wasn’t an easy decision to make, leaving my family in Austria and the country I love but this is a move I had to make, and I believe it will prove to be the right decision.

I would like to thank everyone involved in Red Bull Salzburg for such a warm welcome considering it was my first job. I will never forget what I learnt in my time at the club and I will continue to support them along with my family who are now football lovers.

We had an amazing 2 years together including 3 titles and amazing runs in the Champions League! I am certain the fans will give as much love to the next man who takes charge, but for now it’s goodbye.

We are sad that today we have to say goodbye to a brilliant manager and friend in Marcel Schmid. The past 2 years will go down in the club’s history as 2 of the greatest ever! Some memorable results in the Champions League and fantastic displays each week.

This was done very professionally and admirably from Mr Schmid and we wish him the very best for the future.

We are now actively working to bring in the next manager.
