Marcel Schmid - The whole group is disappointed that we couldn't get something from the Lille game considering I told the side that there would be rotations in the final EL match. I have to say we made up for that from the Guingamp game right the way to the Derby de la Côte d'Azur. This group of players are all working at the same goal, we don't have players who want individual praise we are a collective and that makes me very proud as their manager.



Bayern fail to reach the knockout stage again!

In other news, Bielsa's big spending has paid off as Schmid's former side reach the knockout stage for the 3rd consecutive season!

Those final four results show there is the ability to really improve. The squad need to knuckle-down and ensure these results continue as consistency has lacked at times. The Europa League draw has been kind to Marcel and his side, in my view. Rapid present the opportunity of a comfortable passage to the next round if the team can respect their opposition and play to their best.

The previous results for Schmid against Rapid does look for good reading, but you can never underestimate the opposition in Europe.

Marcel Schmid - He was a very big part of the recent history of this club and I'm glad that we were able to bring him back for a few months this season. He hasn't necessarily had a role on the pitch but has off it, he is someone with vast experience who has helped me massively in getting these players to were I want them to be.

Marcel Schmid – This month we let ourselves down at the back end of it! It was a huge win against the strongest team in France where we took our chances well and defended as a unit. We took that into the next 2 league games and didn’t concede, but then it comes to another big game in the semis and we just don’t turn up!

We missed a very big chance this month to reach a final, but we must not let that get to us because we have the Europa league very soon and you have to be up for it away from home or you can easily be eliminated by the first leg.

Marcel Schmid - The plan wasn't to make loads of moves in this window because the squad is settled for this season but we didn't want to pas on the opportunity to get someone with the quality of Gelson Martins in! He can help cover Falcao's position if needed but he is going to play on the right wing.

The deal for Moussa Niakhaté was agreed quite a while ago and he is very happy to get the chance to play for Man City. Like I have said previously we have a lot of players in that position so it was a good move for both parties.

An excellent month until the final couple of results. To knock PSG out and then fall to Lille must be very frustrating. Gelson Martins is a great signing and will be a star, I'm sure.

Martins is a big move that will really help the team out! This month has been almost perfect and the team is really starting to show true promise now!

ScottT and TheLFCFan - Martins was unhappy so we had to bring a player of that quality and of course there is frustration there, but we only have ourselves to blame!

Marcel Schmid - We started with another huge win over Nice, with late goals but we controlled that game and I was always waiting for the goals to go in. It was more of the same against Rennes, we didn't dominate possession but we had the better chances. We let ourselves down defensively again which should have been a wake up call for the Europa League game, it proved not to be!

That early goal really hurt us and then they got the 2nd not long after and we just couldn't cope! luckily Pietro got us back into it just before half time and we had the belief to at least get 1 to take back to Monaco. We did get that late on, but we have a lot of work to do.





Marcel Schmid - PSG are unbeaten, so all we can do is consolidate 2nd! We already have a huge cushion over 3rd, so we are prioritizing the EL and that means we must be up for the next game. It would be a disappointment to go out at this stage of the competition and we are still in the tie if we have the right mindset.

Second place would be fantastic should the squad be able to attain it. A loss in the first leg of that manner is disappointing, but two away goals make Marcel and his team's task slightly easier.

Rather disappointing result in the Europa League but as Scott said the two away goals help. It looks fairly set that you'll come second now, hopefully you can close that gap next season as PSG are flying away with it.

ScottT and TheLFCFan - I think we have to be happy with 2nd considering they haven't finished there since 2018! But it's annoying to be in this situation in the EL when you look at the gap we have from Bordeaux.

Marcel Schmid - We did it and Martins showed why we bought him! Of course I would have liked us to make sure of the result because the final moments where a bit nervy but it is done now and we can look ahead to the next challenge







Marcel Schmid - We have to be happy with that draw to end the month as PSG have not be used to dropping points this season. It was a good warm up ready for our trip to the Emirates next month, it was one of the toughest draws we could have got but we are up for it and excited to test ourselves against one of the best in England!
