We have spent nearly €85m and although we have made lots back, we have to push at the top of the table with that outlay!

2019-08-19 22:46#260553 ScottT : Monaco asserted themselves as one of Europe's hottest prospects after they won the Ligue 1 title, but unfortunately it prompted them to slowly lose their core over the next season or so. This side gives me hope that the future is bright once again and hopefully, Marcel will be able to retain the core of his squad - unlike Jardim who was forced to lose his most valuable assets.

Marcel Schmid - We can accept the draw against Le Havre considering how long it was between the last game and that one. From there we got our EL group off to the best start, especially with an away game we caused them all sorts of problems and we were rewarded for our good work.

You could see how the players have started to understand each other really well, in these 2 league games we played really well and were just so comfortable throughout!

We ended the month with a big home game and just completely controlled the middle of the pitch. That was clear after 10 minutes we just won every ball.

To have a month as good as that so early in the season just shows what the players are made of. They have done everything I have asked to get us underway how we wanted and we just have to keep going.

A strong start under Marcel, long may it continue!

The draw to Le Havre could be considered a disappointing result, but Marcel certainly got a response from his side over the course of the month. Goals galore and a great set of results in both the league and the Europa League!

TheLFC Fan and Scott T - A good start for Schmid but they must keep the consistency going if they stand a chance against PSG!

Marcel Schmid - Well we shot ourselves in the foot a lot this month and we only have ourselves to blame. That Nantes game was just crazy! They did very well and just seemed to keep scoring when we came back in it. I want to move on from that very quickly.

Then just about scrapped past Graz, to continue our good run in the EL. And then came PSG who just played us off the park. I don't believe they are that much better than us but they proved they are well drilled and we just couldn't cope that afternoon.

The month did end on a good note away at Lyon is always a tough place but we performed like we have in previous months, we have hopefully got that out of our system now and we can push on again from here.

The victory against Lyon salvages what looks to be a poor month of football on paper. While those results to Dijon and Nantes are poor, at least the Europa League form continues to look good.

A really poor month in all honesty. Shipping way too many goals with 5 against PSG and 6 against Nantes, hopefully next month we will see much improvement!

ScottT and TheLFCFan - A lot of work for Schmid and his coaching staff to do. There is no way the club can be successful if you concede 15 goals in 5 games!

Marcel Schmid - A very important month for us knowing we are now through the group stage with a match left is a big plus. We have to highlight the Troyes match as the stand out, they had more possession but we were happy to let them, as we created scoring opportunities!

We have all moved on from last month and now we can go into the busy December with confidence in our ability to not concede every time we take to the field.

The defence looked a lot tighter this month. Progression in the Europa League will only improve morale, too. Hopefully this month can lay the foundations of a good run of form going forward.

A better month for sure! Tighter defense, now it needs to be done consistently!
