Rafinha hat-trick puts Barcelona on cloud nine..

His second of the evening came on the 37th minute; picking up the ball 40 yards out and driving at the defence, before firing home just inside the 18 yard box. AS Monaco pulled one back through Nacer Chadli just before half time; unmarked at the backpost following a freekick, he was able to fire home unchallenged. Barcelona lacked ruthless touch in narrow away win...

None-surprisingly; Barcelona manager Miguel Rodríguez rung the changes in tonights game; 3 days after facing AS Monaco in the Champions League. In a game in which Barcelona dominated start to finish; leaving Málaga with little respite the entire 90 minutes. Barcelona retained 70% of the ball throughout the match; however, they lacked that clinical element in tonight's game. Arthur scored the only game of the match 48 minutes into the 90; striking home first time from 25 yards out. Barcelona face another of the promoted sides; CD Lugo in their next game.

Arthur (48)

It did take Barcelona until the 61st minute to score the opening goal of the game; Philippe Coutinho curling one to the far corner from just outside the 18 yard box. Abel Ruiz made it 2-0 in the 90th minute; scoring a headed goal from a Coutinho corner. Sociedad did not manage to register a single attempt on goal during the match; the sending off of Asier Illarramendi didn't exactly help their cause. You continue to go from strength-to-strength. This form is more than admirable!
Coutinho seems like he is on a roll right now! Great work man.
ScottT - and Messi has only been involved in 3 games! Picked up a couple of injuries already this season unfortunately. When he returns we should go up another level fingers crossed!

Jack - Cheers mate! Him and Suarez are proving to be the driving force for us this season. Coutinho has already surpassed his goals tally and assists from last season.
Wednesday 30th October - Copa Del Rey 4th Round Leg 1

Rayo Vallecano 1 - 1 Barcelona

Late goal ends Barcelona's 13 game win streak..

An 85th minute goal from on-loan Ethan Ampadu ended Barcelona's 13 game winning run which stretched back to the first game of the 2019/20 season. Barcelona controlled the majority of the game, creting openings but lacking that cutting edge. Rayo looked threatening on the counter, and would have taken the lead if it wasn't for some fine goalkeeping from Iñaki Peña. Luis Suárez scored the opening goal of the game after 60 minutes; being played in by Rafinha; he had all the time he needed to pick his spot and fire past the Rayo goalkeeper. Vallecano found a late equalizer through Chelsea loan signing Ampadu. Rayo countered quickly following a Barcelona shot; Bangoura was able to drive 30 yards with the ball, before squaring to Ampadu who finished first time. Up next for Barcelona, they face Real Valladolid at home in La Liga.

New Contract for Miguel Rodríguez!

Barcelona have extended the contract of first team manager, Miguel Rodríguez. His previous deal had 18 months left to run. His new deal is a 2 year extension, running until June 2023. When asked about his new deal; Mr. Rodríguez had this to say..

Miguel Rodríguez - Barcelona Manager For me, it was a no-brainier really. I have been at this club the vast majority of my life; it is all I have ever known. That's why I am delighted to have extended my stay as first team manager until 2023. It has been a good start to the campaign following on from last years success. Top of La Liga, and into the next round of the Champions League. We can do better though. We need to keep progressing, and moving forward. We have to take last seasons success and build on that. The youngsters that have come into the first team this season have adapted well, they're getting good minutes, but for them this season is a learning curve. They are getting used to the demands that come with representing the first team of Barcelona. Next season will be where they show their true class, because there have been flashes, but you can see that they are still a little inexperienced at this level. They'll get there though, we just have to be patient with them.

Club chairmen Josep Maria Bartomeu released this statement following the announcement..

As a club, we have been really impressed by the way Miguel has gone about leading our club. Many in the media, and many of our fans, had questioned our decision when we first appointed Miguel as our first team manager. We feel as though he has answered those questions in full, and done precisely what we expected of him. He has been at this club since he was 8 years old, and therefore knows the traditions, and the identity of the club. He has brought our famous tiki-taka football back, as well as our philosophy of developing our younger players into first team players. Since his appointment; Peña, Ruiz, Cucurella, Aleñá, Cuenca, Puig, and Miranda have made the step up from La Masia, and into the first team. For these reasons, as well as the success in terms of trophies, we felt that it was vital to secure the services of Miguel Rodríguez for the long term. We hope to have many more years of success under his leadership.
Congratulations on progressing to the knockout phases. A contract extension is greatly appreciated, I'm sure, and highlights the faith the higher-beings have in Rodriguez to continue to succeed.
ScottT - Cheers mate; in terms of the current club philosophies in place, the board confidence stands at 87% These include; developing the clubs youngsters, playing attacking football, and possession football. Rodriguez clearly has something about him.

Real Zaragoza 1 - 2 Barcelona

11 wins from 11 as Barcelona go 10 points clear..

Barcelona already seem to be running away with the league title this year. After only 11 gammes played, they are 10 points ahead of second place Atlético Madrid; granted, they do have a game in hand to play, but even then, the gap can already be 7 points. If Barcelona keep up this pace, they may already be celebrating another title by March. Real Zaragoza did however manage to give the league leaders a scare in today's early kickoff. Going 1-0 up in the 15th minute. Barcelona were sluggish for the majority of the first half, but came out looking a different team in the second. Some choice words must have be spoken by their manager during the half time interval. Barça leveled 5 minutes after the restart through La Liga's top scorer, Luis Suárez. Dembélé secured the 3 points for Barcelona late on in the 88th minute, picking the ball up on the half way line, beating 2 players and rifling home from 20 yards out. Barcelona face a tricky away game in their next fixture, where they take on Sevilla.
