Another game, another Barcelona win..

After some neat build-up play, Messi scored a trademark goal, cutting in from the right and striking a curled effort into the far corner. Suárez doubled Barcelona's lead 15 minutes later, scoring from a freekick. Sevilla were much better second half, and really tested Barcelona's defence. After all their pressure they managed to pull one back; a Samuel Umtiti own goal following a wicked cross; hit the defender and rolled past a helpless ter Stegen. Barcelona now turn their attention back to the Champions League; they face Standard Liège at home.

Despite some rotation, a victory to cap off the group stages is ideal, especially when it allows you to top the group. Good work!
ScottT - Allows our key players to have some much needed rest, and gives the younger players more experience.

Barcelona 4 - 0 Atlético Madrid

Barcelona ruthlessly dispatch Los Rojiblancos in dominant victory..

Barcelona maintained their winning start to the La Liga; this time, it was Atlético on the receiving end of a footballing lesson. From the first minute, until the last, they just couldn't get to grips with the fluidity of Barcelona's play. Luis Suárez bagged himself a brace, before Arthur and Piqué added the third and fourth goals. The La Liga table makes for grim reading for the Atlético Madrid fans out there. They already find their team a staggering 13 points behind leaders Barcelona, after 13 games played. Barcelona face Rayo Vallecano next in the return fixture of the Copa Del Rey.

Barcelona 1 - 1 Rayo Vallecano

Rayo pay the penalty in close encounter..

Barcelona survived a scare in the 4th round of this years Copa Del Rey. They took an early lead through Abel Ruiz in the 11th minute; however, Rayo looked threatening on the counter, just like in the previous leg. They finally pulled level in the 89th minute of play; Iñigo Lekue scoring with a powerful header. There was little action to speak of during the half an hour of extra time played; both sets of players looked shattered, and seemingly had settled for the lottery of a penalty shootout. With the shootout tied at 3-3 Iñaki Peña produced two fine saves to win the shootout for his team. The draw for the next round is in two days time. Barcelona are back in La Liga action next; facing Real Betis away from home.

Goalscorer(s):
Abel Ruiz (11) Iñigo Lekue (89)

Sergi Roberto - 7.9 Match Rating
A scare indeed, but thankfully one you have overcome. The resolve of the team has been tested and now, hopefully, the players have been given a bit of a wake-up call when it comes to the cup.
ScottT - a lot of inexperienced players have featured in both games of the cup so far. Going to have to mix it better between the fringe players and key players in order to ensure progression to the later stages of the cup.

After your first loss of the season against Monaco, there seemed to be no dejection and an immediate reaction which is always beneficial. Albeit a narrow victory in the Copa Del Rey, too, it is an improvement on the previous rounds struggles. Ter Stegen making a crucial save from the penalty-spot could prove to be one of the most important saves of the season to maintain your unbeaten record. I have confidence that this could remain intact all season long!
