2021 Youth Intake

-----

1860 Munich’s Head of Youth Development Manfred Paula has brought another crop of youngsters to the club. Mutlu Yagan being the only standout of the group with the 15-year-old adding more talent to the right wing position at the club which already features 20-year-old Johann Ngounou Djayo and 17-year-old Lisandru Tramoni.

-----

Mutlu Yagan

German born but of Turkish descent, Mutli Yagan has terrific physical attributes while also having great potential technically. Despite his potential, Yagan is has been known for his determined approach which can sometimes see him become confrontational and volatile.

-----

Daniel Deinert

The inside winger has great agility and acceleration but much like his attacking counterpart Mutlu Yagan, he is known to cross the line with his aggression.

-----

Ludwig Kufner

A player of great strengths but large flaws, Kufner may be a project for the coaches at 1860 Munich. His poor crossing ability is of a concern given the tactics Daniel Bierofka likes to employ sees his wing backs come forward and supply crosses.

MJK46: Union are looking to return to the Bundesliga after being relegated last season

Jack: It seems to be a thing doesn't it?

TheLFCFan: I hope we can go on a run and have a decent attempt at the title

ScottT: Finding consistency in defence is going to be the key in any title attempt
Could have been better. At least there is some potential to uncover with the three players highlighted.

Ludwig Kufner will be a club legend
1
Some promising players there. They could be destined for greatness, in your hands.

The battle at the top of the table looks set to break into a brawl, and I'm excited to see the outcome! It'll be tense, it'll be tough, it'll be thrilling. Let's go Munich!

March 2021

-----

Results

A 1-0 defeat against 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 started the month for 1860 Munich with Osei Owusu missing two vital opportunities during the match. A late goal in injury time from substitute Johann Ngonnou Djayo saw Die Löwen steal victory from FC Erzgebirge Aue followed by a dominant 3-0 victory over SSV Jahn Regensburg to finish the month of March.

-----

Ladder

The fight for promotion is on in Bundesliga 2 with any of the top seven teams hoping for a good run of form in the remaining seven fixtures this season to see them promoted into the Bundesliga.

Union Berlin remain as the standout of the whole competition as a side that is capable of dominant performances while 1860 Munich and FC. St Pauli share second place.

-----

Player Of The Month

Phillipp Steinhart

Continuing his incredible form so for this season, Philipp Steinhart was ever present in defence, making eleven interceptions in three fixtures, including an incredible seven in one match against SSV Jahn Regensburg.

The 28-year-old has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet for 1860 Munich which is quite an impressive achievement given that Felix Muller was named the starting left back in his place heading into the start of the season.

-----

Injury Report

Felix Muller

Suffering an incredibly unfortunate injury at training, Felix Muller has fractured his skull and is expected to miss the rest of the Bundesliga 2 season.

Herbert Paul

After damaging his knee cap, Herbert Paul will be out of action for one to two weeks with Aaron Berzel set to fill in at right back.

-----

Fixtures

1860 Munich face two bottom half sides in VfL Bochum 1848 and SV Darmstadt 98 to start the month before heading into two potentially tough fixtures against Hamburger SV and Dynamo Dresden who currently sit in seventh and eighth respectively.

Comments

ScottT: Yagan is an interesting situation, given I have talent in the position I am not sure what I want to do with him moving forward

MJK46: I don't think he will but I like your positive outlook haha

Justice: Always good when I have a talent whisperer at my disposal, right Justice?
If you can cut out the odd stray result that seems to crop up every month as Jack highlighted recently, you'll certainly be doing yourselves a favour. Unfortunately, football isn't that simple. ;) Hopefully the next month with two relatively pleasing fixtures to start the month will set the way for an additional six points to be added to the total.
1
I have a feeling the next month will be make-or-break for your season. Four big teams, by all means. If you can walk away from April with 9+ points, I think you've got promotion in the bag.
1
A strong youth intake on the previous update, that's for sure. I wonder what role they will have to play in the immediate and upcoming future.

As for the divisional performance, you're really pushing for that 2nd spot now and it would be cruel for you to miss out after all this hard work. Just don't pull a Leeds and completely crash out of contention!
1
You don't bring through the strongest of players do you! A decent intake, with Yagan being the most exciting. In terms of results, I am baffled that Osei missed two chances, guess everyone has to have one off day ;) But a good reaction to the result and two wins in a row sets you up nicely for a run at the title!

April 2021

-----

Results

An undefeated month is all 1860 Munich manager Daniel Bierofka could ask for towards the end of the season as 1860 Munich began to fight for promotion to the Bundesliga.

Starting the month with two draws, to take their season tally of draws to three, Die Löwen began to find form at the end of the month with two strong performances in two consecutive fixtures from 1860 Munich winger Stefan Lex sealing victory against Hamburger SV and SG Dynamo Dresden.

-----

Ladder

Union Berlin have sealed promotion to the Bundesliga for next season, bouncing straight back up after being relegated from the division the season prior. 1860 Munich find themselves three points ahead of nearest rivals FC. St Pauli while SV Werder Bremen, DSC Arminia Bielefeld and 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 are all in a position to capitalise should the opportunity present itself.

-----

Player Of The Month

Efkan Bekiroglu

Rising to the occasion when his team needed him most, Efkan Bekiroglu was in scintillating form in the month of April for 1860 Munich. Pulling the strings in the midfield, the 25-year-old created numerous chances for his teammates while also making vital interceptions to assist his defence.

Arriving on a free transfer from FC Augsburg ahead of the 2018/19 season, the German has proven a tremendous acquisition for Daniel Bierofka.

-----

Injury Report

Aaron Berzel

A groin complaint has kept the 28-year-old Berzel off the field, is it unsure how soon he will return and is currently being assessed day to day.

Felix Muller

Still recovering from his traumatic training injury which saw him suffer a fractured skull, Felix Muller is still one to two months away from being able to return to training.

-----

Fixtures

1860 Munich find themselves in the box seat for promotion to the Bundesliga, facing three relegation threatened sides in their final three fixtures of the season.

Their closest rival in FC St. Pauli also has a reasonably easy final three matches, facing two relegation candidates but also having a potentially tough match against eighth placed SG Dynamo Dresden who have won three of their last four fixtures.

Comments

ScottT & Justice: An undefeated month is just what the doctor ordered

Jack: I do remember thinking of Leeds while going through this season haha

TheLFCFan: Owusu certainly had an off day, it was very frustrating
End of season looks cake, you can still win the league, good luck!
1
Finally edged your way in that top two! Looks like you might’ve hit form at just the perfect time in the season, but it’s only worth something if you’re performing just as good or better than St Pauli in those final three fixtures.
1
On paper, an easy finish to the season and exactly the fixtures you would want to have when you're fighting for promotion. However, FCK and Onasbruck will be desperate for any points they can get to avoid relegation/the play-out spot.
1
Fingers crossed that with that run in your able to pull off promotion. Be interesting to see what sort of budget your given to try and stay up though
1
You've got all bottom sides to end the season mate you should seal that auto promotion spot.
