Results

A brace from Osei Owusu started the month off with a victory for 1860 Munich against FC Erzgebirge Aue, followed by another two goal victory over SSV Jahn Regensburg.

VfL Bochum put in a dominant performance in their 2-1 victory, with the only shot on goal for Die Löwen coming from a Stefan Lex goal in the 90th minute. To finish the month, Efkan Bekiroglu continued his incredible season, scoring two goals in their 3-1 victory over last placed SV Darmstadt 98.

-----

2. Bundesliga

The top four positions find themselves separated by just three points at the end of October while 1860 Munich continue to defy the critics, sitting in fifth position.

At the bottom of the table, 1.FC Kaiserslautern and SV Darmstadt 98 appear to be early favourites to be relegated with both teams only having one win from twelve matches.

-----

Player Of The Month

Phillipp Steinhart

Making his way into the first team after an injury, Steinhart has made the most of his opportunity, producing two assists in four matches.

The 28-year-old led the 3. Liga last season for assists but fell out of favour at 1860 Munich after the club signed Felix Muller. A tough decision awaits Daniel Bierofka with both players now available for the first match of the month against Hamburger SV.

-----

Injury Report

Felix Muller

Suffering his third injury in two months, Muller will be available for the first game of November against Hamburger SV but faces a battle to regain his position in the side from Phillipp Steinhart

Stefan Lex

Injured in the match against SV Darmstadt 98, the 30-year-old winger will miss two to three weeks with a calf complaint.

-----

Fixtures

Mid-table sides Hamburger SV and Dynamo Dresden await 1860 Munich to start November before finishing the month against lowly 1.FC Kaiserslautern

Comments

Jack & Justice: Happy with the start so far, clear of relegation is first priority, then we will see what we can do moving forward

ScottT: It is an incredibly close division no doubt, lucky there is enough time in between games otherwise managing fatigue would be quite difficult

TheLFCFan: In hindsight, I did not appreciate how tough this run of fixtures was, when it occurs the second time this season I will be more aware
Good work. Certainly flying high.
A superb month by 1860s standards! Really defeating all prior expectations this season even if you may have been unlucky not to scrape a point out of the Bochum game. If this form continues then the top four should be quite scared in my opinion.

Hamburger SV had a dominant victory over 1860 Munich at the start of the month, winning 3-1, proving them to be a team with great ability who have lacked consistency throughout the season so far.

Die Löwen would rebound with two consecutive victories with a 3-0 win over Dynamo Dresden and then coming from 1-0 down to defeat 1. FC Kaiserslautern courtesy of a brace from winger Stefan Lex.

-----

2. Bundesliga

Union Berlin have been rewarded for their consistency, sitting on top of the Bundesliga 2 ladder while not much change occurred amongst the other title contenders. Interestingly, 1860 Munich find themselves the only team yet to draw a match so far this season.

By the end of the month, all clubs will have faced each other once, seeing a better understanding of where each team sits amongst the division.

-----

Player Of The Month

Tosin Adarabioyo

On loan for the season from Manchester City, the 23-year-old has been dominant in defence for 1860 Munich. The 196cm defender has won a large percentage of headers while also making crucial interceptions.

1860 Munich will face VFL Osnabruck at the start of the month without Adarabioyo after he picked up his fifth yellow card for the season, leading to a one match suspension.

-----

Injury Report

The 1860 Munich squad currently has a clean bill of health.

-----

Fixtures

The Bundesliga 2 draw sees 1860 Munich play at home for the entire month of December, starting with a match against VFL Osnabruck. Holstein Kiel is next before the second half of the season commences, with Die Löwen looking for retribution against FC St. Pauli, who defeated them in the opening match of the season.

Comments

ScottT & Jack: Incredibly happy with our form, can't say I was expecting it to be honest
Another impressive month from you, keeping up chase with the top three despite a loss to a [I assume] strong Hamburg SV side who will surely be up there at the end of the season!
Tough match against Hamburg but they are a quality side. Hopefully next month you are able to be perfect.
Another six very valuable points to add to the tally. Very tight at the top. A run of home games always presents you with an advantage in aiming to pick up maximum points. Good luck!

Bierofka Signs New Contract

Bierofka continues to impress, guiding 1860 Munich to be in promotion contention this season

• The two-year extension will see the him with the club until June 2023
• Bierofka is known for his attention to detail in all aspects of his managerial role
• The 41-year-old has a 57% win percentage across the past two seasons

After winning the 3. Liga title last season, Daniel Bierofka continues to defy critics, leading 1860 Munich to fifth place at the end of November and being rewarded with new contract at the club. Bierofka had five months remaining on contract prior to the extension and is set to earn €10,000 per week for the next three seasons.

“I have to say I am thrilled at receiving a new contract, to have the security of a deal until the end of the 2022/23 is great for myself and for my family.” said Bierofka. “I will continue to work hard and hopefully we can capitalise on the tremendous start we have had this season.” he added.

“Daniel is great to work with, the faith he has shown in our players from last season who earnt promotion with seven of them still remaining in the starting side has really allowed us to feel comfortable and work hard as a team.” said 1860 Munich captain Felix Weber. “At the start of the season, our goals were set out and Daniel plans out the season meticulously each and every day with everyone understanding their role in the bigger picture.” he added.

Three more fixtures await Bierofka’s 1860 Munich before entering the winter break of the German football season.

Comments

Jack & MJK46: Hamburg on paper are a much strong side than almost all of the competition, they have just proven to be very inconsistent so far

ScottT: I certainly hope the home games gives me an advantage throughout December
Excellent news and certainly merited.
Those results are certainly coming in thick and fast now! Great to see, and the deserved reward of a new contract is brilliant news as well. Good stuff mate!
Thoroughly deserved. I get the sense Bierofka loves playing the underdog just down to his remarkable success against the odds of those in tune with German football.

Starting the month with a poor performance in a 1-0 victory over VFL Osnabruck, 1860 Munich continued in the same vein, finding themselves heading into half time against relegation candidates Holstein Kiel down by one goal. Coming out for the second half, Die Löwen looked like a team possessed, scoring four goals for a decisive victory.

In the last fixture of the year, FC St. Pauli has proved to be a bogey side this season, coming away with a 1-0 victory and defeating 1860 Munich for the second time.

-----

2. Bundesliga

Union Berlin and Arminia Bielefeld find themselves sharing first position while 1860 Munich have continued to climb up the ladder, finding themselves only four point away from the leaders while a number of clubs trail close behind.

At the other end of the table, three relegation candidates have emerged with the bottom two set to be automatically relegated while third last place in Bundesliga 2 will face a playoff against the third placed side in 3. Liga.

-----

Player Of The Month

Phillipp Steinhart

Continuing to defy his critics, Steinhart has continued to put in exceptional performances this season to help his side move into promotion contention. During his four seasons at the club, he has developed a close relationship with 1860 Munich manager Daniel Bierofka.

-----

Injury Report

Marco Hiller

Suffering a groin strain at training, the third choice goalkeeper is unavailable to train for the first week of January but will be fit before the next 1860 Munich fixture.

-----

Fixtures

Only two fixtures await 1860 Munich in January, facing two mid-table sides in SpVgg Greuther Furth and 1. FC Nurnburg.

Comments

ScottT: Glad to have more than one year on my contract

TheLFCFan: Really happy with our form, playing aggressive and chasing those three points above all else is working

Jack: He just looks like an underdog as well haha
Another couple of important victories, just a shame they couldn't be supported by a third against St Paul. Regardless, 1860 are in a fantastic position at this stage of the season.

So close to the top three. Hopefully the new year brings an unbeaten run

The St, Pauli result will have hurt, given your run of form before that game. However, you're in contention for top honours. Keep pushing, you'll get it.
