Results

Despite being undefeated throughout the month, it was a disappointing start to September in the Bundesliga by coming away with just three points in three matches. This streak was ended in the final fixture of the month when a Lothar Piller header sealed the first Bundesliga victory of the season for 1860 Munich.

The highlight of the month was 1860 Munich’s 2-0 upset victory over Napoli in the UEFA Europa League in their return to European football. Controlling possession from start to finish, goals from defenders Diogo Dalot and Armel Bella-Kotchap saw Die Löwen complete a famous victory.

-----

Bundesliga

Reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich hold the top spot at the end of September with VfL Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin rounding out the top three. Only two sides remain winless so far this season in Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen.

-----

UEFA Europa League

1860 Munich got off to a terrific start in Group C by upsetting favourites Napoli while a brace from 36-year-old Ryan Babel sealed an opening round victory for Besiktas against FK Partizan.

-----

Player Of The Month

Marco Kana

For the second month in a row, Marco Kana has been named the Player of the Month. Since moving to a defensive midfield role, the Belgian has proved solid in stopping opposition attackers while also providing vital assists with his strong passing game.

Injury Report

Eduardo Camavinga

Camavinga is set to miss between one to two weeks of action after suffering from a hernia. In the interim, former 1860 Munich captain Efkan Bekiroglu will take his place in the midfield.

Svetozar Markovic

After spraining knee ligaments, Markovic will miss two to three weeks. The injury will prevent the Serbian making a return to Partizan Stadium to play his old club FK Partizan at the start of the month.

Fixtures

A month of travel awaits 1860 Munich in October, starting with an away fixture against FK Partizan in the UEFA Europa League, they then travel back to Germany to face Bundesliga runners-up in Borussia Monchengladbach.

After a short break, 1860 Munich play Eintracht Frankfurt away from home followed by another UEFA Europa League away fixture in Turkey against Besiktas before finishing the month against Fortuna Dusseldorf in yet another away fixture.

Comments

Everyone: We should beat Besiktas and Partizan and upsetting Napoli puts us in a great position.
Very convenient for Markovic to have an "injury" that will prevent his return to Serbia. You should have a talk with him, warn him that this just won't do ;) Very slow start to the season from your lads, but the key is that the points are still trickling in at least. A point gained is better than 3 lost.

That being said: the wins need to start coming in soon, or you'll be out of a job!
A nice result in Europe bud but i understand why you'd be disappointed with all those draws in the league.

A great result against Napoli and a good undefeated month as well. I'm sure the wins will start coming but at least its still points in the board

1860 absolutely love a draw don't they?! Without a doubt one of the toughest starts to a season in terms of opposition that I have seen in this story. An incredible win against Napoli that might have already seen you through into the knockout rounds of the Europa League!
Tough schedule, indeed, missed the opportunity to beat Mainz at home. However this means that the second part of the autumn fixures will be a lot easier. Great win in EL and you can qualify for the next phase in just 3 matches which is incredible!
Very frustrating run of results that, but it's a tough run of games, especially given the fact that Hertha always seem to be a great team on FM. Next month I can see you winning 2 or 3 Bundesliga matches though, with some easier games!
you won't be able to draw forever and get away with it, I'm afraid

but very nice win over Napoli
Quite a number of draws but certainly a pleasing start to the Europa League campaign. It's a shame Markovic will be absent for the return to Partizan. Kana continues to impress which is promising for such a young player.
Excellent win over Napoli and despite winning just the once in the league, a point is better than none! Still three points of fifth!

Results

Starting the month with a 2-0 defeat of FC Partizan, 1860 Munich would continue to struggle in the Bundesliga with consecutive defeats to Borussia Monchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Kasper Dolberg would turn around the form of 1860 Munich with a brace in the 2-0 win in the UEFA Europa League against Besiktas and then go on to score the only goal in the victory against Fortuna Dusseldorf in the Bundesliga in the final match of the month.

Bundesliga

Bayern Munich have maintained their position at the top of the table, remaining as the only unbeaten team in the Bundesliga while RB Leipzig and VfL Wolfsburg find themselves behind the leaders by four points.

-----

UEFA Europa League

1860 Munich remain perfect in the UEFA Europa League with three consecutive victories without conceding a goal and will be looking to secure first place within the group while Napoli and Besiktas will compete for the final qualification spot in Group C with three rounds remaining.

-----

Player Of The Month

Efkan Bekiroglu

After being on the outside looking into the starting side for 1860 Munich so far this season, former 1860 Munich captain Efkan Bekiroglu made the most of his opportunity after injuries occurred in the 1860 Munich midfield. Contributing with efficient passing as well as scoring two goals, the 28-year-old has put pressure on the positions of both Eduardo Camavinga and Lothar Piller.

Injury Report

The 1860 Munich squad currently has a clean bill of health.

Fixtures

Three straight home fixtures await 1860 Munich in November including two consecutive fixtures against RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal and Bundesliga. After the international break, Die Löwen face Bayer Leverkusen before travelling to Italy for their return fixture against Napoli to finish the month.

Comments

J_ames & ScottT: As soon as I drew Partizan I was excited for the Markovic return to his home club but it just didn't work out.

walkinshaw, Zed & Tango: My form in the Bundesliga so far has been incredibly frustrating but I believe we can turn it around.

tedbro20, Jack, One More Game & TheLFCFan: The victory over Napoli was incredibly satisfying.
Ouch! It's not been the greatest starts to the league but on the bright side the Europa League is going well. Hopefully that form can be translated into domestic games soon
Making the Europa League look easy on one half yet completely messing up in the league! Focus must be put back on the Bundesliga, especially with the gap that comes between the group stages and the knockout rounds.
Could the additional fixtures in the Europa League be contributing to a tough start to the domestic campaign? A very pleasing run there but not so much in the Bundesliga for the time being.
Now you need maybe just a point in the EL to qualify so all the forces should be in the league, next month is also not with easy fixures even though Bayer are struggling like you. Soon there will be better times at Munich 1860!
