Welcome home! I suspect Warrington won't be languishing in the bottom three for very long under your management. ;)

My first game back as manager of Warrington ends with us beating Cardiff by three goals to two away from home. We made hard work of it, allowing them to score twice to give themselves hope but we held on for a superb three points.

The first time leading the team out in a stadium named after me. The reaction from the crowd was incredible as well and I'm delighted that we were able to reward them with a 4-2 win over QPR.

We may have lost this game but I'm proud of the lads and their performance. Going away to the top of the league side is never easy and we gave them a game for quite a while, and that's with going down to ten just twenty minutes in and down to nine through an injury late on.

26th December

Fraser Stewart out for up to 3 weeks with a pulled calf muscle

Aston Villa are up near the top fighting for promotion so to beat them by four goals to nil is a massive confidence boost for everyone.

League Table

We're already out of the relegation zone and climbing up the table. A good January transfer window next month and anything is possible. Can we mount a push for the playoffs? I'd happily take mid-table right now.

Next Month's Fixtures

The Warrington Way

January 2028

1st January

Midfielder Ian Hudson joins on a free transfer

A goal from Sam Harker puts us safely into the 4th round of the FA Cup. I would have liked us to score more though really.

3rd January

Warrington to travel to Blackburn in the FA Cup 4th Round

4th January

Midfielder Graham Davie joins on loan from Manchester United

Defender Oliver McCool joins on loan from Wolves

GET IN! A late goal from Paul Glatzel gives us a very good win away at Middlesbrough.

7th January

Wing-back/Midfielder Mauro Fiorini joins on loan from Juventus

Nottingham Forest are the form team in the Championship at the moment so I wasn't expecting us to get a result. Credit to the lads though, they battled hard before just coming up short. A lot of positives we can take from that.

12th January

Duane Holmes and John Buckley go out on loan to Port Vale and Crawley respectively

14th January

Cameron Beesley joins Sheffield Wednesday for a fee of 2.4m

Two late goals give us the win against a struggling Brentford side, a win we fully deserved in my opinion.

16th January

Striker Kevin Crepin joins on loan from Bayer Leverkusen

Defender Romario Teja joins on loan from PSG

Winger Osvaldo Deptris joins on loan from Norwich

We love our late goals at the moment. It looked like Wigan would hang on to a point having been down to ten for so long but we scored twice in the last 10 minutes to take all three points.

19th January

Mo Adams joins Wrexham for a fee of 180k

Striker Ruben Vivancos joins from Real Madrid Castilla for a fee of 24k

Sam Robinson join Rotherham for a fee of 16.75k

21st January

Goalkeeper Edoardo Ferrone joins on loan from Napoli

I would have taken a draw before the game but I'm disappointed now. We should have held on for the win but we switched off right at the death.

24th January

Blackburn or Warrington to play away at Chelsea in the FA Cup 5th Round

Another very good performance and three more points. We keep gradually creeping up the table which is fantastic. The lads have turned their form around since my arrival back at the club.

31st January

Riley Edwards joins Barnsley for a fee of 600k

Wing-back Samuel Msagha joins from West Brom for a fee of 31k

Nathan Baxter joins Bristol City for a fee of 1m

Goalkeeper Sergio Galassi signs from River Plate for a fee of 3m

An interesting graphic this one. The gulf in wage budgets in the Championship is huge.

We're up to 17th in the Championship table, ten points clear of the relegation zone!

Steady improvement so far, how high can you climb I wonder.

A massively disappointing result! I like to go as far as possible in the cups and we should have gone further in this yer's FA Cup. We didn't take our chances and Blackburn punished us.

A great way to respond from our disappointing FA Cup exit. We dominated Birmingham and could have scored more than the three goals we did score.

Leeds aren't the team they once were but I'm still chuffed to get the win over them as I don't really like them all that much.

Gutted. On another day, this could have gone the other way but it wasn't to be. I can't fault the lads for their efforts on the day.

We showed our battling qualities once again to grind out a 1-0 win against Cardiff at the John Warrington Stadium. A good win.

If the Cardiff game a grind, this one was a lot simpler as we cruised to a 3-0 win over Swansea. That said, it could have been a lot different had Mitrovic scored his penalty in the 10th minute.

Why are we incapable of beating Blackburn? We missed a load of chances again but drew 0-0 instead of losing as we did in the FA Cup replay.

League Table

Safely in midtable now, I think we can relax. We won't go down and I can't see us catching the playoff chasers with 17 points to gain in 10 matches.

What a result! We went away to the top team in the league and eased to a 3-1 victory. Performance of the season.

4th March

Mauro Fiorini out for 2-3 weeks with a pulled calf muscle

Another great result, this is seriously one hell of a squad, if only I took over sooner. A superb dominant win over the team currently occupying the final playoff place.

A really good away win keeps our slim playoff hopes alive!

It was a close one but we managed to get the win at home against Lincoln. We defended really well and just the one goal was enough for the points.

18th March

HUGE NEWS in our annual youth intake.

My son Daniel Warrington joins our ranks. Having taught him all I know, I know he'll be a great player.

Writers Note: FJFJHFSIGJSIGDHVSI OH MY F***ING GOD! I DON'T BELIEVE IT! This save just became 100x better with one mouse click

22nd March

Will Fish out for 6-7 weeks with a lower back stress fracture

We're 8th with nine points needed to catch up with the last of the playoff places. It's still on mathematically but can we really do it?

Next Month's Fixtures

Would be a great achievement to see you grab a play off spot after where the club was sitting when you took over.

Will also be great to see how your son progresses at the club and will his old da be fast tracking him into the first team to try and break some club records?
This save is the gift that keeps on giving - can't wait to see how your son fairs, the potential is frightening.

Would love to see you make the playoffs, big push needed!
A terrific run of form gives you an opportunity to capture a play-off place, albeit the chances rather slim at this point. The only negative lately seems to be the early exit in the FA Cup!

Your son looks to be have quite a bit of potential. It would have been underwhelming should he have been crap!

A really good performance gave us a crucial win at home against Watford. The lads were superb throughout and deserved all three points.

This was a really close game up until the sending off then it was a case of us just hanging on for the point, which thankfully, we managed to do.

I feared the worst when we went 1-0 down as every point is crucial at this stage. Thankfully, the lads fought back beautifully to win by four goals to one. We're now only three points behind Millwall who are in woeful form!

It wasn't plain sailing but we eventually got the job done. Unfortunately, Millwall also won.

It's going to the final day! We battered QPR but Millwall also won so we're three points behind them still.

We go into the last day with a shout of getting into the playoffs, though we need Leeds to do us a favour. Given Millwall's form over the past few months, that's possible.
To even be in this position is fantastic. Hopefully luck is on your side!
The great escape is almost now the great miracle! One game to go down in history!
