Rooney on his way out?

Personally, I'd sell Rooney in January to R. Madrid for 20M plus Benzema

Only 20 mil? Would ask at least 30-40 mil + Benzema. I mean last year he was (I feel) the best player of the world. I really hope that he doesnt stay in England and goes to Real Madrid or Barcelona.

As a untied fan a am more annoyed than angry. After thinking about the issue you cant compare it to the Ronaldo transfer. First of all Ronaldo was from Portugal and his boy hood team was Madrid plus his form (unlike Rooney) was not hit and miss. However Rooney is English, and said in April (i think) that united was his club and he would stay forever. He is doing this purely for money and nothing else. I also wonder if his "off the field problems" have affected his change of heart? Now the question needs to be asked who will replace him?

Howvever he could do a Ronaldo and stay anther year and leave at beginig of next season, althoug due to his contract the senario isn't the same, personally I always thought from when ROoey came to united that he was overrated

also i think if rooney has personal problems he should try to resolve them himself first. as how the club has been besides him when he has trouble in past its unfair if he doesnt give the club a second chance as well. if he wants to leave because he has problems himself i think its a very bad attitude towards the club.

He wont do this a the difference between the situations is that Ronaldo had a longer contract and Ronaldo did not go the press slating Sir Alex. Ronaldo said he wanted to join Real Madrid but he never disrespected Ferguson like Rooney has done.

Are you really serious about Lens and Reis?
I mean, they´re good player but not PL worthy. Reis could have the potential if he lays off the cocaine but they could possibly replace Rooney. Suarez is a good player who deserves to play for big club but I just don´t see him in playing for United.

What's wrong with Benzema? Sir Alex was interested in securing Karim's services a while ago, given that he's probably disillusioned at Santiago Bernabeu, it's not an unthoughtful choice, right?

Benzema is a good player but he has been out of it for a while now. It been a long time since he´s been on the pitch. But with the right playing time and guidance from the staff he´ll become a good player.

Btw, I heard that Rooney was going to anounce why he wants to leave maybe today or tomorrow.

Rooney said that he is not going to sign a new contract because David Gill and Sir Alex cant give him the asurance that they will sign top players.

I too have a problem with the fact that there have been no replacements for Ronaldo but I wasn´t expecting this to be the reason that Rooney wants to leave. But then again, this situation could be solved by Gill and Ferguson by making a big transfer in January. At least in theory...

To be honest on his current form would prob not be the best time to sell him but if rooney wants to leave then so be it, I think he is overated.

Personally I'd think the best choice would be Rooney getting sold as soon as possible. Waiting a year more would only lessen his potential value. Plus players are allowed to buy the value of their remaining contract and if he really wants out then he could do that on the last year of his deal and get the potential transfer fee United earns as his signing on fee. I'm assuming he's a money grabber here though, it could be far from the truth.

I agree with stam though. Rooney to Madrid for Benzema + 20M-30M sounds like a good deal for a number of reasons. It's a striker for striker swap and Benzema is a player Sir Alex wanted back when he was in Lyon. The extra money could be used to bolster the squad in other areas. Also the Glazers might force Sir Alex to hold back on spending the transfer income due to debt. If Rooney's words on the club hierarchy not promising to invest on the squad are true, an all money transfer deal would be a bad option. So getting Benzema would cover the loss of a striker just in case the money can't be spent and if Sir Alex does spend it, 20M isn't pocket change either.

I also think that Benzema + 20M-30M is quite good deal.
