Taking Control of Madrid

Hello everyone , I have decided to have another go at a story after I lost my Fulham story when my laptop broke. This story will be with Athletico Madrid and the long term aim will be to control Spain and hopefully Europe. I will post the Pre-season results and signings soon and I hope you will enjoy reading it. Any advice on potential signings will great , thanks for reading and wish me luck! :)

Whats your transfer budget?

Originally about 5.5 millions but I've made a couple of signings already.
Ahhh /: was gunna say Mbaye Niang would be a great addition and hes only around 5mil
Pre-season and Transfers

In my eyes pre-season is mainly about getting the squad match fit for the upcoming season. So while I get the transfer deals done I let my assistant take control of the friendlies , here is how the friendlies went:

Athletico Madrid 5-2 Athletico 'B'

Shenua 1-1 Athletico Madrid

Empoli 0-7 Athletico Madrid

Rayo Majadahonda 0-3 Athletico Madrid

We only had 4 friendlies due to us having to qualify for the Europa League , this is how the qualification campaign for that went:

3rd qualification round 1st leg : Athletico Madrid 1-2 Valerenga

3rd qualification round 2nd leg: Valerenga 0-2 Athletico Madrid

4th qualification round 1st leg : Athletico Madrid 0-0 Hearts

4th qualification round 2nd leg : Hearts 0-0 Athletico Madrid - Athletico Madrid win 4-3 on pens

As you can see we got very lucky in both rounds when really we should of eased through , but a win is a win and we are through to the group stages.

Transfers In

As we only got a budget of 5.5 million to spend we couldn't do too much to change the team , I also had a look at the loan list and seen some very good deals.

ST/AML-Mario Balotelli from Manchester City - Loan

CM/DM-Seydou Keita from Barcelona - £2.6 million

ST-Danny Welbeck from Manchester United - Loan

RB-Kyle Walker from Tottenham - Loan

DM/MC/AMC-Kyle Holzhauser from Stuttgart - £2.6 million

I brought in Seydou Keita because I thought we lacked a top quality CM and he brings that aswell as experience and also Kyle Holzhauser is an 18 year old who my scouts say will be as good as Seydou Keita so I thought it would be a good investment. Also I think I may have got Kyle Walker on loan for 2 seasons but im not sure!

There were no transfers out of the club but I did try to get rid of RB Cesar but no clubs were interested.

Tactics

I have set up 2 tactis for this season ; one is a 4-2-3-1 with 2 CM's , An AMC and 2 wingers.
The other is an Attacking 4-4-2 with 2 CM's , 2 advanced wingers and 2 ST's.

I will be doing updates every match for this story with a short match report each time , thanks for reading :)

Liga BBVA: vs Osasuna

Line-Up

Courtois
Walker, Godin , Perea, Filipe(Dominguez 84)

Gabi(Holzhauser 79), Keita

Balotelli(Turan 65), Diego, Pizzi,

Falcao

Athletico Madrid 5-0 Osasuna

Falcao (30,81)
Pizzi(37,52)
Arda Turan (71)

This was a very good win for the team in a match that we dominated. The possession was split 52%-48% in our favour and we had 23 shots to there 2. Man of the match was Pizzi who scored two very good goals , one which Messi would of been proud of as he took it round 2 defenders and slotted it into the bottom corner. Hopefully we can build on this win have a strong season. Thanks for reading.
They are some great signings there! Ok Balotelli isn't a popular pick with me or alot of others but you can't deny he will score ya goals, Danny Welbeck should be a great addition aswell as Walker.

Thanks mate and I've never played with Balotelli before and I thought he'd be good , haha.
Liga BBVA: vs Valencia

Line-Up

Courtois

Walker , Godin , Miranda , Antonio Lopez

Kieta , Tiago

Welbeck , Turan(Diego 62) , Pizzi

Falcao(Balotelli 72)

Valencia 0-2 Athletico Madrid
Pizzi (84)
Balotelli (87)

This was another good win for us but this time one that we scraped instead of deserved. Valencia had the greater share of possession having 53% to our 47% they also had 18 shots when we had only 8. The change of the game was the introduction of Diego who played a great 1-2 with Antonio Lopez and then set Pizzi through who then finished with class. It was also his defence splitting pass which set Balotelli through on goal then he slipped the ball under Valencia keeper Diego Alves. So a game were we didn't play as well as we can but we still came away with the 3 points , they say that's the mark of a champion. Thanks for reading :)
