England won their first match in Euro 2016 Group D with a 5-2 thrashing of Denmark. Chris Smalling kicked off the goals with a header before Nikolas Bendtner levelled the score. Wayne Rooney, who was making his 130th appearance for England, beating Frank Lampard's 129 caps, broke through the Denamark defense to make it 2-1 but Denamrk immediately equalised. But then Leighton Baines scored an inch-perfect free-kick just before half-time to take the lead. Just after half-time, Baines scored another free-kick to make it 4-2 before Darren Bent put the game to bed with a beautiful chip over Kasper Schmeichel to complete the rout.
England's next game is against Portugal.
