He was doing quite well in the league so I thought I'd give him a try!!! He was just a replacement as Micah Richards and Glen Johnson were both injured so I had him and Walker in the squad

England Rue Missed Chances

England 0-0 Northern Ireland
Phil Jagielka
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Line-Up:(4-2-2-2) Scott Carson, Glen Johnson, John Terry, Phil Jagielka, Ashley Cole, Steven Gerrard, Michael Carrick, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Stewart Downing, Theo Walcott, Peter Crouch.

As England had a number of injuries- including Joe Hart and Wayne Rooney- they could not find a winning goal to win the match. They hit the woodwork on several occasions but could not get the ball to find the back of the net. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was unfortunately injured in that match and will miss England's next few games.

In other news, England's John Smith has rejected an offer from Osasuna as he wants to fully concentrate on the management of England and guiding them into the World Cup 2014.

England Cruise Past San Marino

England 3-0 San Marino
Lampard (pen)
Stewart Downing (2)
Stewart Downing

Line-Up:(4-2-2)Scott Carson, Glen Johnson, Phil Jagielka, John Terry, Leighton Baines, Michael Carrick, Frank Lampard, Stewart Downing, Steven Gerrard, Grant Holt, Darren Bent.

England cruised past an improved San Marino side to top Group 8. San Marino aren't losing by 8 or 9 goals now but still haven't won a competitive match in their history. Again Joe Hart, Wayne Rooney, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ashley Cole headed the long list of injuries.

England have one more game in the World Cup Qualifiers before the Confederations Cup in June.
how did u wing the english premier league with swansea in your first season.? sounds like a load of rubbish to me

Wigan Hire Smith

England manager John Smith has agreed a contract with Wigan. Smith's job will be to guide Wigan back into the Premier League after being relegated to the Championship. He also said the offer was too hard to refuse and he may be able to find some future England players in his squad.

Smith Wins First Game

Wigan 2-1 West Ham
Beausejour
Di Santo
Barrera
Collison
Di Santo

Line-Up:(4-2-3-1) Ali Al-Habsi, Steven Whittaker, Gary Caldwell, Madjid Bougherra, Dodo, James McArthur, James McCarthy, Brett Holman, Mauro Formica, Jean Beausejour, Franco Di Santo

Jonh Smith's first game in charge was a good one as Wigan overcame a poor West Ham team. Smith can do nothing about Wigan's relegation as he came with only 2 games to go but he did relegate West Ham with this win. Wigan fans will be hoping that Smith can bounce them straight back up the Premier League next season.

Wigan Go Down With Pride

Burnley 1-2 Wigan
McCarthy
Bougherra
Austin
Bougherra

Line-Up:(4-2-3-1) Ali Al-Habsi, Ronnie Stam, Gary Caldwell, Madjid Bougherra, Dodo, James McArthur, James McCarthy, Brett Holman, Mauro Formica, Jean Beausejour, Franco Di Santo

John Smith continued his 100% record as Wigan manager with a great win against a decent Burnley side. Even though they won, they could not stop coming last. Wigan fans will be looking forward to next season as Smith looks like the right person for the job.

England Sweep Moldova Aside

England 3-0 Moldova
Terry
Bent
Baines

Line-Up:(4-2-2)Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, Phil Jagielka, John Terry, Leighton Baines, Scott Parker, Frank Lampard, Stewart Downing, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Darren Bent.

England thrashed Moldova to keep their 100% record in Group 8. England have still not let in a single goal while scoring 16 in this group which looks like a walkover for them. It was John Smith's first game back after being hired by Wigan and England fans feared Smith would have lost focus on England but it does not seem to be the case. England will now be looking to win the Confederations Cup in a week's time.

Pretty interesting story this one, encourage to keep it going. On a general level, England should be kind of hard to play well over an extended stretch as there are so many holes, but who knows what will happen as the game starts creating regens, maybe it will get better. The idea that Glen Johnson is the best option at right back is kind of scary, having to resort to the likes of Bent and Holt up top similarly, and the list goes on. I do applaud the use at times of various players who've had good league seasons, that's exactly as it should be, you may find something that will work against expectations, or put some pressure on a player who's been underperforming and gets dropped. In Real Life we've been observing the death knell (for the moment, everything is cyclical) of the 4-4-2 in international football at least in Europe (Euro 2012). Can't argue with your results, don't mess with it too much, but I'd have to say even before this summer I'd have been looking at how to make a central trio to stifle the other side's playmakers and create something going forward. Woy couldn't do this IRL this tourney because of the absence of Gareth Barry, basically.

Thanks mate. I am going to try out a 4-3-3 in a friendly match and see if it works. I was thinking Gerrard, Lampard, Parker in the middle with Rooney upfront and 2 of either Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Young, Downing or Lennon.
I use Koflok's Goals Galore, the 41221, my team in 2016 is
Hart
Walker Jones Smalling (or Terry) Baines/Bertrand/Gibbs
Rodwell/Huddlestone
Milner Wilshere
Sturridge Young
Rooney

Sturridge led Swansea to 4th place in 2015/16 with 34 league goals, you should give him a tryout

I will definately give Sturridge a try out!! He hasn't been playing much for Chelsea so I can't see how good he is. Your team isn't that different to mine!

England Surprise Favourites Brazil!

Brazil 0-2 England
Romulo
Zamora
Rooney

Line-Up:(4-2-2)Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, Phil Jagielka, John Terry, Leighton Baines, Scott Parker, Frank Lampard, Stewart Downing, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Bobby Zamora.

England shocked favourites Brazil in the opening match of the 2013 Confederations Cup. England really showed why they should be 1st in the World Rankings by coming out of their skin after a quiet first half. Romulo helped England a little by forcing himself to take an early bath but in truth England were by far the better side.

England are now 1st in Group A with Japan and New Zealand left to play respectively.
