I know Podolski was once touted as the next best thing for Germany but his performance post WC 2006 slowly faded away with Bayern. It's good to see him regaining that spark again because he's got the ability to do so. He's underrated in FM 2008 btw...
Arshavin has got to be the star of the tournament! He's stolen the spotlight so far with his impressive performances. He's a late bloomer but I believe he's destined to be in a big club after this tournament.
Joao Moutinho looks like an exciting prospect and he's still really young! He does look a bit lightweight but steaks and gym during the summer camp might do him good.
Arda Turan has been showing some exciting performances for Turkey. I'm not surprised at all if Arsene Wenger shows some interest in him or if he moves to a big club during the summer transfer window.
You have to love Guus Hiddink! the man is a magician! Brought South Korea to semifinal in WC 2002 and OZ in 2006 and now Russia to semifinal Euro 2008 (and still going). He's got this brilliant man-management skill to unite players and gel them as a team. these countries don't really have abundant star players but he managed to build them as a team and play some attractive and attacking football. Why the English FA appointed Capello instead of him is beyond me.
On the other side, I expected before the tournament to see some wonderful performance from Silva. But he hasn't showed any glimpse of brilliance during this tournament (he's got to be the best attacking player according to FM 2008).. Somewhat overrated in FM 2008 IMO.
I know this sounds tad unfair judging players based solely on this tournament BUT this event is a perfect moment to judge whether players can perform on a big stage.
Lastly, I'm not impressed at all with Gomez and Luca Toni! they're supposed to be top scorers in Bundesliga and yet they're one of the biggest disappointments in this tourney. It's a slap on the face for Bundesliga. says a lot about the quality of the league huh?
